San Diego, California - I had the incredible honor and opportunity to spend a day in the life at the World's Best Zoo in San Diego, California.
The San Diego Zoo (@SanDiegoZoo) is located in the vibrant city of San Diego, California, is a world-renowned destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. Spread across 100 acres of lush, meticulously designed landscapes, this iconic zoo is home to over 3,500 animals representing more than 650 species.

I had the opportunity to spend the most of my time in my "day in the life" with the amazing polar bears, elephants, hummingbirds, and giant tortoises. What a day!

Sorry, but for a number of years now the folks who rate such things have declared the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska as the best zoo in the world. I believe the San Diego Zoo comes in somewhere around 7th.

Best and zoo should never go together, did these animals evolve for billions of years to be the circus clown to us humans. We have destroyed their ecosystems, killed their prey, climate change all thanks to our oh so greatness. Take the polar bear for example, this is a natural predator with instincts to kill seal, not be handed a bucket of fish in a warm enviroment. I in no way support zoo's as they disregard basic human rights, why should they be something fun for us to watch. They should be in their natural enviroment so they can thrive, reproduce and kill like their ancestrors, not be told when to do all that. This is a disgrace for all animals in a zoo or aqruarium. Dont think its bad? Look like tilted whale fin, due to sadness and poor feeding a whales fin will flop over and never return. This will stay like this until the day it dies, probably in a tank smaller then 2x its body length. For us to keep these terrestrial and marine life confined to a cage for our happiness is so messed up.

I learned something watching this video and it's very interesting what they do to keep animals cared for and the thing that I learned was that polar bears can eat vegetables and fruit I always thought they were a strict carnivore diet like say dogs or the Tigers and lions but I realized they're like any bear would they omnivores

A lot of these animals have it A LOT better in a Zoo than they would in the wild. Polar bears have to travel miles and miles through desolate tundras to find food and often they end up dying from hunger.

@Lootensansy2308Here on the 9th of January 2026 when San Diego zoo has announced that old grandma turtle unfortunately had to be put down at 141 years old earlier this week. I hope she had a wonderful life and experienced so many things❤.

Sadly Grandma the tortoise has since passed. I remember when we were kids you could go into their exhibit and ride them. They are amazing.
All zoos should be banned permanently animals like these are not meant to he caged. Any zoo establishment is a cruel establishment solely for profit and entertainment of people.
