There are a lot of interpretations in regards to the Nephilim not just the Canaanite and Sephite interpretation. I think you guys should watch Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World episode 386 on the Nephilim since it goes far more in depth in regards on who the Nephilim were. Regardless, what Fr. Mike said is true. Pray for those people whose spouses are not Catholic❤

In these early readfings, stories that we all know and have read and reread and are so comfortable with, Father Mike has a way of putting them into a fresh context that makes these stories hit differently for me. At 51, it's like I'm hearing them for the first time. Thank you!

Thanks for spending the time to review the Bible after reading the word! I’m excited to further explore the written word of our Lord from another devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

I am surprised that the Nephalim were not mentioned as the result of fallen angels and humans. I don’t think the Bible would highlight human daughter’s, their beauty, and other beings that are also Gods creations (which was interpreted as Seth’s line here) in the same sentence for no reason.


Peter even said…
"And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion."

Jude 1:6-7

There’s more evidence of this is mentioned in the book of Enoch and the Dead Sea scrolls. It’s sprinkled throughout the Bible.

They were completely wiped from the battles mentioned from the book of Joshua and 1 & 2 Samuel.

In Hebrew, "Nephilim" translates to "The Fallen Ones". To me, it refers to their origin as the offspring of fallen angels who fell from their holy status in heaven. This translation does not fit into “giants” in any way.

I am sharing, for those who are interested in understanding the world unseen. I assume this was glossed over to prevent the reader from having to explain the supernatural (angels and demons) part of the Bible. I believe it’s a conversation we need to start having to have informed followers.

I had a supernatural encounter with God that saved me. I’ve been curious to understand what I experienced through the Bible. It has led me to become a devoted follower of Christ and I along with many young men are so hungry for the truth.

Learning these truths of the supernatural helped saved me. So, I felt encouraged to share.

- In Genesis chapters 4–6, we see the genealogical lines from Adam to Noah. According to Saint Augustine, these genealogies reveal two distinct lineages: the descendants of Cain and the descendants of Seth
- The descendants of Cain represent the earthly city—those who live primarily for themselves and for the things of this world, apart from God. The descendants of Seth represent the City of God—those who seek to live in communion with God and remain faithful to Him.
- This distinction does not mean that every descendant of Cain was evil or that every descendant of Seth was righteous. Rather, the two lines symbolize two ways of life: one centered on self and the world, and the other centered on God.
- Throughout Genesis 5, death dominates the human story, but Enoch breaks the pattern. While others are remembered primarily for how long they lived and that they eventually died, Enoch is remembered because he walked with God. The chapter teaches that a life truly worth remembering is not measured by its length, achievements, or possessions, but by the depth of one’s communion with God. Walking with God is the biblical image of a life lived in friendship, trust, and obedience to Him.

And ironically, I saw an anomaly rainbow in the sky after church today amongst my sinful and very wicked community. God was reminding me of his mercy, but yet warning me to not fall into sinful nature of those godless people around me.

The "fallen" have always been understood to be angels ("sons of heaven")that were taken by the beauty of human women and left heaven to mate with them. They are the nephilim whose offspring were giants and had powers and explain the Greek and Roman myths of "gods"- "They were the heroes of old, the men of renown." This is not a discussion of the two lines of Adam, Cain and Seth, but is about the two lines of morality. One line is fleshly and one spiritual. Only the descendants of Enoch remained faithful which led to Noah being the only line preserved. God removed even the "sons of heaven" through the flood.

I discovered something new about myself. I am too methodical and somewhat of a perfectionist. I wanted to make sure everyday I listen, I jot down and highlight my bible with certain colours for certain places so that it's easy for me to go back to read but this has been impossible for me. I am a working mom. So I would just start where I stopped commenting. And start all over from Day 7. But attempt to listen to two podcasts a day, on the go. Writing the status. Done. So help me GOD. If i listen to 8 podcasts in a day i should finish the Bible in 40days. Hopefully i finish it this Lent!

The Nephilim are the offspring of "the fallen": The angels who followed "L" in rebelling against God aka "the Watchers". They "mated" with (R word) the daughters of man who birthed the Nephilim, which were giants. They - the fallen & the nephilim also used some kind of technology(?) to create human/animal hybrids; an abomination in the eyes of the Lord, our God. The account of Saint Christopher is the only one of these animal/human crossbreeds to have a positive outcome. I do not believe these accounts to be allegorical.

the names don't represent people. The years represent civilizations before they died, and the civilizations that grew out of it are called the sons. All the years add up to 6k years which polar shift Noah event happens every 6k years.
