Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person. For a while I thought Michael's career would be defined by near misses, and epic runner up finishes. Like the all-time classic final he just came up short against Peter Wright in 2022. But his perseverance & commitment paid off. Enjoy watching this match each time I watch it, as much as the 1st. Fairplay to Micheal van Gerwin. Such a top class gentlemen. But this day belonged to the Bully Boy. Congratulations Micheal Smith!!!🏆🎯🙌

My mate was a massive darts fan & went to see live darts regularly, and all he talked about....I enjoyed it but not to his extreme & never really watched it religiously like him since the Jocky Wilson, Bristow, Lowe etc etc days. Sadly he missed this incredible final, the best final in history, as he died a week before in hospital due to bowel cancer. He will have been looking down thinking.....Wow!!!, what an absolute cracker!!!.... Miss you buddy!!
