Dark New Details Uncovered in Sheriff Mickey Stines Judge Killing

Video Overview & Insights

Shawn "Mickey" Stines faces a murder charge in the death of his former boss and longtime friend, Judge Kevin Mullins, in Letcher County, Kentucky. He's been held without bail. But now Stines is asking a judge to grant him bail and at a recent hearing, his aunt testified about his bizarre behavior in the 24 hours leading up to the shooting. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy goes through Sherry Stines' testimony and talks with Stines' lawyers in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

I can tell you why he did and he did it because he wanted to. He had the opportunity and desire and that’s that this is a simple case. We should not have a trial. He got that man in a position where he could not escape I don’t know why he didn’t scream in Hollow for gun for his sheriffs to come and save him, but he did what he did because he wanted to he had a chance to and The tools. He needed to get the job done and that’s that he is a cop. He knows exactly how to work the system.

What was "secrret" and "hidden" about the judge's chambers? Everyone knew where the judge kept his office. In fact, 'everyone' was gathered in the judge's office, talking casually, before the incident occurred. How can Aaron say that this undermines an insanity defense, when Stines went to see the judge where he usually saw him, and not knowing what words were spoken? Maybe Stines said something like, "I don't believe that you are the real judge. You're an evil impostor. If you are really the judge, prove it to me, by saying our secret password." [Just a fanciful example.] The judge might have said, "What are you talking about? Are you crazy?" Then Stines shot him, thinking that he was eliminating a shapeshifting threat to humanity. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Aaron's shortcut to dismissal of an analysis of Stines' state of mind is unworthy of his mind.

Wonder if he knew the judge had had some one else put down and they covered it up with his help ???
Seems to be a very crooked town like the old west where the judge had all the power to do anything

I get mental health issues and I don't even say I don't believe that he had a psychosis. What's hard for me is the thought "yes but what about the people that get harmed/killed because of it". Do we need to lock people up to protect themselves and others when we see first signs of it? It's so difficult all around how to handle this and while I am ranting... When are we pausing and wonder why humans get so stressed that their brain malfunctions like that all in a sudden?

I think the wife asked the judge to sign a protection order for her and the daughter ( as a Judge) and he felt betrayed by his friend but I feel his behaviour was scary to his family!

Shouldn't someone in Law Enforcement be mentally stable? 🤯🤯🤯

A lot of people have mental health issues (men and women) but that does not excuse killing someone in cold blood. He knew what he was doing before, during and after he killed Judge Mullins. He made sure he was dead before he left and that take a sane person to do that. I am not saying that he does not have something going on with him as far as his mental health but that does not change the fact that LE are held to a higher standard and are not above the law, He lost everything because of his actions, no one else is to blame except for him.

Didn’t these defense attorneys come out right after the crime and say Mickey wasn’t insane and they wouldn’t be using an insanity defense??

Wow so yall in the comments have completely switched up now they claim mental health. It’s so sad to see it’s very obvious this man was in a crisis

I love how y'all keep saying "his friend". If the judge was doing all these things and everyone knew it, why was he friends with him? I've called BS from the beginning. I don't care about your mental health. You do what this sheriff did (take someones life), you belong in prison for the rest of your life.

@adriannabandco

I've been on his side this whole time, especially knowing the corruption in small towns. However, I have to say that this all sounds like meth use. Im judging that on a life time of personal experience with my family members and friends.

for her own safety, Aunt Sherry should not allow someone in his mental state, who is clearly dangerous, in her house.

I don't think people understand how scary those places are. People think these places with crazy people are a get out of jail free card. Just imagine being in prison where EVERYONE is crazy...and violent.

I'm really curious if a judge is gonna give bail to someone who killed another judge.... forgive me, I have been drinking and looking at my security cameras for 4 hours now🫣

Creep!

@storiful
@

Mental breakdown or not these lawyers must be in some kind of denial if they think he's getting bail, we've all seen the video not a chance anyone in their right mind would let this guy out of jail into the care of a frail old lady.

@moomooova
@

I take melatonin gummies and like 4 extra strength Benadryl every day (I work nights at the prison) and I've never decided to just go murder someone. They're acting like he took Ambien.

@TwiggyKeely
@

These lawyers are scumbags going around town putting out rumors paying ppl to say things against the judge if they win this case they will be gaining a lot of fame

@Smurfturds
@

This does not constituent as insanity. And he wpuld.need to get evaluated for it. If he has no history, the jury wont buy it. Hes going to prison for sure. Calling it now.

What's not talked about is the preacher man's involvement & what all he was telling Mickey! Why did Mickey confront the judge after being with preacher man, what was said in that room, to make Mickey think he needed to get rid of the judge, & what did preacher man say to Mickey outside, after the shooting 🤔
If you're going for mental then find out who all was feeding Mickey those threats & why🤔
Truths need to be told !
