Dad Realizes His 14-Year-Old Daughter Is A Killer

Video Overview & Insights

It was just after midnight in late May of 2023 when a man returned to his apartment in South Florida after a rare night out with friends. A recent immigrant fleeing a war-torn country, he had only recently settled into the home with his teenage daughter and his elderly mother.

If this was a true story it would have their names!

— @kelliebates7643

The apartment was meant to be a refuge — a quiet place far removed from the violence they’d escaped, where three generations could finally begin again in safety and peace.

But the moment he stepped inside that night, it became clear that whatever sense of peace they had hoped for was already gone — and that their new life would never be the one they imagined.

She got away with murder, literally.

I’m just gonna say right now: no, I am not defending her murder. Moving on from that, sociologically, there are significant problems with this case. It’s not a blood thirsty killer, spoiled brat situation like a lot of people are acting like. Her father couldn’t afford the mental health care she needed and he KNEW she needed. There were other incidents and increased after being separated from her mother and evacuating from the war in Ukraine. Another issue is she needs a translator, someone was translating in trial for her. Or a psychiatrist/therapist who knew Ukrainian which is…. Not going to be common, even with remote services. Then there’s the insurance issue of that provider even being covered. There are some city and state services but they don’t have a lot of funding, likely anyone who knows the language, and if they do, the wait times are very long. What I’m saying is: this was going to happen. If it wasn’t the grandmother, it was going to be him, another child, etc.

If there were better, more available resources, there would have been another path. The U.S and many states do not provide these services effectively. It is better to treat the after effects than prevent them and that is stupid. This is a 14 year old girl, in a country she doesn’t know, a language she doesn’t know, without one of her parents, evacuated from her country while her mother remains in danger, isolated and has a history of aggressive meltdowns with nothing to treat that for years. Lastly, Slavic culture around this is not very kind. Her father frequently mentions she ā€œblubbers, complains, cries, get her to focus on her dutiesā€ etc. they are a very hardened culture, putting that very generally but it’s much more complicated than I can get into, her behavior wasn’t acceptable and they expected her to just. Get better. Like they did. Like he did. Like grandma did. Grandma went through WW2, you can do this. Earlier we hear him say that she said she didn’t feel listened to/taken seriously. Yeah. I think no one heard her. Likely she has some kind of disorder that is worse by symptoms of anxiety/stimulation, cptsd but it’s hard to diagnose children. I think the sentence was fair. She did no contest, her father asked for some leniency as well.

That poor man and poor woman and poor child. It was a disastrous recipe of sociological problems.

Hey, does anyone knew what bible verse he's referring to? I looked it up and cannot find any evidence of it, but maybe its just a language problem. All i get is Matthew 18:6 and Psalm 69, which are definitely not right.

oh well everything that is born will die. its a matter of time. in 200 years, no one living today will even be remembered just as if none of us even existed. can you name anyone who lived 200 years ago? I sure cant. so in the year 2226, no one will be able to name any of us who are living today either. thats the way it is.

That girl will get out after ONLY 3 years for killing her grandma and do the same thing to someone else. That girl will be a menace. And the thing is she will have to get out and go live with her father AGAIN because she will only be 17.

I feel for that father. What a position to be in! Watch the signs of family, especially those who bottle up grievances and depression/anxiety over long periods of time. Don't let it reach the stage where they end up snapping and where they could just lose control.

I feel like she murdered the grandmother out of spite because her dad took her phone away and she wanted to punish him somehow for that punishment he gave her. She knew he loved his mom and she knew that would be devastating for him if any harm came to her or his mom and so she killed her grandma out of spite and hate. People using the she’s a child or she has mental health issues are crazy for using that excuse. We’ve all been children before and a lot of us have lived hard lives and have mental illnesses due to varying reasons. Heck, I grew up with a violent abusive alcoholic father until my parents divorced when I was 11. I have severe CPTSD because he beat me every single day since I was very young. He mentally, physically and emotionally. And his younger brother SA’ed me when I was 5 for a whole year, until I got the courage to tell on him. He didn’t believe me. My mom halfway believed me. His family didn’t believe me and called me a liar to my face. Even though he admitted it in court in a written statement. I wasn’t his only victim. All that to say that I have never committed murder or been violent with anyone. Mental health issues and being a child is not an excuse for harming another human or animal. She is old enough to know right or wrong. She made the choice to murder her grandmother. Her family tried to help her. And yes, while system did fail her, however, she could have made a different choice. Instead she chose murder. She deserves the consequences for her actions. 3 years is not enough. I feel for those she will encounter when she moves back to Ukraine. Because her grandmother is her first victim. There will be more. I feel for this father losing his mother and daughter all in one day. I hope he is doing okay for the most part and know that he isn’t the one to blame for his daughters actions. He tried to help her. šŸ’”šŸ„ŗ

I feel so bad for this sweet man who just wanted the best for his daughter and bring his wife to the US when the time came. What a tragedy. I'm sorry but I have nothing at all to say regarding her.

I’d worry about what the daughter might do to her father once she’s out of prison. If her own grandmother isn’t safe, neither is her father

What was this detective on he can’t get anything right keeps saying his grandmother instead of his mother and getting years wrong

@AlyssiaHolt

It seems that the daughter probably had needed support for a long time, both from him and her mother but also professionally, and that the father seemed to have no understanding or clue what was going on with her. Very disturbing to listen to.

The violence and the atrocities that this little girl must've seen in a war worn country at a very young age probably helped the shape her and most definitely played apart in what she did that night😢
