He practically begs for it without overtly saying it. Every line can be followed up with "okay, and?" Except, unironically, the part where he says "I'm obsessed."
A lot of music that makes it big tends to take you on a "journey" of self-expression or self-growth. This is more like a stroll down memory lane. Which is weird when you consider how long before the crime this song came out.
