My mother always confuses Hank and Joe. On her defense I'll say that she's almost 90 years old and has poor eyesight, so confusing two tall, blond-ish guys wearing glasses, both of them hosting a Youtube show about science is not so bad.

— @andressigalat602

Is it possibly that someone who looks like you, might actually be related to you? Welcome to the science of doppelgängers. In this fun episode of SciShow, two bespectacled science YouTubers enter, one bespectacled science YouTuber leaves ... because while they may look suspiciously alike, Joe Hanson has his own channels while Hank’s gonna stick around here. The only question is who will return to their home territory with a well-earned sense of victory? Hang out with these fun guys and our host, Michael Aranda, in this unique episode of SciShow!

OMG Joe Hanson and Hank Green are different people. How could this be!
PS: The fish that used the mimic octopus as a taxi definitely has some intelligence. Fish aren't dumb, clearly.
PPS: 16:08 One day we're going to be able to play with genes, not just eggs and sperms, and when we can do that we will be creating tailormade children from a bunch of eggs from each parent, making an actual pool of genetic material and combining them as needed. That would probably be the last step before tailormaking children by mixing genes from multiple mothers and multiple fathers to produce ideal offspring. There will be Godawful messes in this process and I predict there will be a few interesting inheritance and maternity / paternity lawsuits depending on how courts (mis)interpret the situation.

Myself and my mother had gone to the market and one of the ladies behind the deli counter greeted me, "Hiiii, Kim, how are you!!?? I informed her I wasn't Kim. She didn't believe me! She told me I worked with her for six months. I have never worked at a market, let alone that one. 😂 Also myself and my mother have been mistaken for two other ladies and they seem to be mother and daughter too. 😂

Also, all three of them are weirdly attractive, in completely different ways.

The jawfish thing is kind of crazy to me. If this were a long standing instance of coevolution that would be one thing but the fact that it is pure opportunism makes it so much weirder. Coevolution doesn't imply intentionality. Jawfish could just have had a habitat that overlapped with mimic octopi at some point and the ones that swam next to octopi made more babies than the ones that stayed put or swam next to something else so now they have this behavior of swimming next to octopi. But it's different when this is just an opportunistic behavior involving species that have little overlap. How does the jawfish "know" it looks like a mimic octopus? What made it think this octopus would be something it could hide next to? I don't imagine jawfish just swim next to anything that happens by so there had to be some intentional selection going on here on the part of the jawfish and that is sooo much crazier to me than the mimic aspect of it.

If you used the doppelganger criteria for a match within a few millimeters, many "identical" twins would not pass. If you know them you can tell the subtle differences, and it's not just hairstyle or makeup.

Always interesting, thanks.

@Articulate99

there are quite number of people who have found doppelgängers - sometimes even to how they dress. no, they don’t match in many details, but they still look quite a bit alike. i’ve seen photos of people who are living now, where they have found look-alikes in old photos or even good portraits before cameras. amazing!! 🌹🌱

Friends beyond sci show, you just died to me. If a show about science doesnt teach and uphold simple science as truth and opposes the nonsense thats going on, it isnt a sci show its a objektiv reality show. And something like an objektiv reality just doesnt exist. There is 1 reality. If sci show opposes these easy, long time accepted as indisputeable, concept.... it doesnt deserve the scy nor to to be a show.
