Your nation is heavilly overtaxed, evenin rural areas you have to pay a bazilion taxes

Compared to germany (where I live) the cost of living sound suprisingly low! A few examples for germany: My monthly rent for my apartment is 1500 € (280000 yen), monthly health insurance (for me and my wife) is around 800 € (150000 yen), anual income tax is 3000 € (560000 yen), VAT is in most cases 19% on all goods and services, gasoline is 370 € per liter, car tax and insurance are 600 € (110000 yen) per year. Statistics say, you need for two persons 3300 € (600000 yen) per month to live in germany. Keep in mind, a big portion of your expenses in germany are taxes and public duties.

for lunch per person it's about $16.00 plus a drink would be an extra $3.00 U.S.

Wow.. only 971$ roughly.. thats way less than I need right now inside a rented flat in southwest Germany 🥲 Here i need roughly 1.160$ to get by somewhat comfortably with everything..
And since I don't like nor being made for 'big city life' either rural Japan it would be for me if I'd ever had the chance to move there and not only plan holidays there in the future.

Hmm. My property tax including school taxes are about $13,000 per year which is about two million (2,000,000) yen per year. We paid off the mortgage ten years ago.

It has probably been over fifteen (15) years since we ate at a restaurant.

We are a retired couple, in Hungary, Europe. I used to be a well paid electric engineer, my wife used to be teacher.
We live a humble life, in a village, family home. We eat in restaurant one time a month, my hobby is cheap, slingshot shooting, my wife's hobby is the garden. The biggest leisure cost is watering our 700 sq.m. garden. That's around 500 USD a year. We love hiking is slovakian mountains, one double room with breakfast is around 80 USD. And leisure cost is our dog too. We spend suprisingly high sum on her medicine and vaccination.

78 USD a week on food for the whole family is INSANELY cheap. In America, eating all organic food, I spend 300 a week for a family of 3.

in rural japan you can earn as less as 25k yen a month and still can live a healthy, fit, youthful and long life lifestyle.
the problem is probably tech stuffs as they are ridiculously expensive.
house can be obtained for free, car is affordable, vegetables and protein are also affordable.
the expensive stuffs would be fruits (unless you want to grow them yourselves), electricity (air con, heater, refrigerator, washing machine, etc3 that requires large amount of electricity to run), internet speed connection (expensive, very little quota and slow).

Please, where in Japan are you? I am thinking of relocating with my family to Japan.

I lived in Yokosuka for Eight years, and the Countryside was my favor destination, fishing and camping.

In some areas, the support to the community can be quite expensive, 100000 a year to support renovate shrines etc, support for matsuri etc… depends on place but you can have a big surprise…

These prices seem similar to Canada before inflation basically doubled the cost of everything over the past 5 years due to government misuse of expenditures mostly on failed environmental projects. They certainly made government insiders rich while doubling our expenses. Has this happened in Japan?

Gas: 11,000 to 22,000 yen/month

I'm confused and perhaps I missed it but why not use a foriegn currency denomination for costs. Or is there a summation in dollars and pounds at the conclusion? Very nice video.
