Most of these 2500 vocabulary words appear in the couse of Duolingo German classes. Having these words in mind help you increase the efficiency of your study on Duolingo!

Doing vocabulary without a particular order (nouns then adjectives then phrases etc) or rules (like giving the plural form after the singular) is like a word vomitorium.

Ich bin

In English this is "I am".
Break sentence into subject and predicate. Parts of speech with their accidents analysed later. Subject here is, I, and the predicate, am. Most important parts of speech are the noun and the verb. Noun differs from the verb in that the it signifies without but verbs signify with time. Another character of the verb is tha it is a sign of predication. Accidents of nouns are gender, number, case. What stands for a noun here is, I, and the verb is, am. Those words that stand for a noun are called pronoun. It is a pronoun of the first person. Am, is a verb and is the conjugation of the, to be, according to the first person.

German, Ich", is the pronoun of the first person and, bin, is the first person conjugation of the verb, sein. Thus, Ich bin, is "I am".

Das Mädchen
The girl
Noun, girl, is defined by a definite article "the" that determines which girl it is.
In English there is only one definite article. Gender doesn't agree with articles in English but this is not the same in German. Gender is determined by sex and pronouns indicate this, it is admissible say of a girl that both, it, and, she.

In German there are three definite articles in the nominative case, der, die, das. Mädchen, is of the neuter gender( -chen as suffix make any noun neuter), and the article that agrees with neuter nouns is, das. Thus, das Mädchen.
