Cole Palmer vs Uruguay | Creative Sub Impact | England Highlights 2026

Video Overview & Insights

Cole Palmer delivered an energetic performance for England against Uruguay in this international friendly at Wembley.

0:38 does he really come back? Why he pass back on 0:38 ? What a wide space for him to dribble and pass but he chose to pass back.
Really missed the old him, now feel like he thinking too much when ball on his feet

β€” @g-raw6810

England drew 1–1 with Uruguay in a tense and physical match. England took the lead through Ben White before Uruguay equalised late from a Federico Valverde penalty.

Cole Palmer entered the match in the second half after Phil Foden was forced off following a heavy challenge.

He holds the ball too longer for me

β€” @kiamapeterfrank9836

From the moment he came on, Palmer brought creativity and attacking quality to England’s midfield. His corner delivery caused chaos in the Uruguay box and helped create England’s opening goal.

This video shows Cole Palmer’s full performance vs Uruguay.

β€’ Link up play with England attackers

Palmer continues to grow into one of England’s most creative attacking players, combining composure, vision, and intelligent movement in the final third.

Just an observation, people are talking about him in the comments, not taking risky passes or taking too long to release the ball. He isn't releasing the ball or taking risky passes because the rest of the team in front of him are static and they aren't looking to attack space. That is why he waits and that is why he can't make the risky killer pass. He is waiting and absorbing pressure from the opponents in order to give his teammates time to do something, he isn't holding onto the ball for no reason. It's his teammates that are too rigidly set in their positions, it's not Palmer's fault nobody around him is thinking... If he had more intelligent players in front of him he would have done exactly what you wanted to see... With him in the team, Watkins actually has a reason to be called up, Bellingham is the kind of player that will run into space as is also Rogers, even Kane would have offered him more than that running into space. Calvert Lewin didn't take his chances, but he is also the kind of player that will make those runs to get on the end of a Palmer pass... If you watch carefully, you'll also see that his teammates don't help him at all with their positioning when he gets into space on the right, they expect him to do magic all by himself rather than offering him the 1-2 he's looking for to be able to cut through the defence... If he plays, the players around him need to understand what he expects because if not he isn't going to be effective

As a Chelsea fan, I saw moments he played safe instead of taking risks, and that is called killer-pass. he can still improve.

Was Cole Palmer England’s most creative player after coming on?

I didn’t see much in this video πŸ˜€

Budak ni ok tapi dia kna kurangkan ego bila sudah cedera..dia boleh req dekat manager tuk fokus latihan insentif perbaiki shooting dan crossing..dia sgt gifted..so season ni dia sgt merrosot dlm pasukan chelsea..boleh dikatakan chelsea sgt bergantung kpd enzo dn pedro tuk mencari gol..player sepwrti gar,giten smua melempem sbb peninjau bakat yg stupid .ketahuilaa peninjau bakat zaman mou yg trbaik..macam mana mou dpt beli plyer mcm malouda,kalou,essien,obi,drogba..some african tapi sgt berbakat..tgk skrg mahal2 d beli tapi ayam..cb pun balik2 tukar ttp ayam..kna mou dijadikan penasihat klub..cari plyer mcm terry ,tak laju tapi sacrifice tu penting..dgn carval pun solid ...plyer mcm david luis ni versi pingpong ..skijap ok skijap ayam..cahill ok dri bolton pun dia da mantap sdia budak ni..
Tuk budak palmer ni dia kna bagi main bebas..baik d atm atau d winger..kna cari plyrr yg pandai bertukar posisi .dia bukan zidane yg solid bdn,atau ortega yg lincah dn tough..dia ni spisis mudah cedera tpi lincah,skilful,bijak dn smart .

I want him to try more through balls when he's playing deeper in midfield. Many wasted opportunities here - England's forwards open up really well.

Hopefully now the club can appreciate what a great player cole is not that they should need convincing he has carried us since he arrived now he plays with a injury and they get on his back if we let him go we will regret it remember Salah and kdb don't let history repeat itself

@Paul.C-g9x

The cole palmer l know is not yet at is best... when palmer is in form... forget

What i saw there from palmer is nothing ive never seen this season with him at chelsea as a chelsea fan, he is still our star boy but that style of avoiding risky passes just to go back to control the game sometimes kills attack and if we being honest, thats not what we been use to from him ,i saw that in the england game just like I've been seeing in chelsea ever since he came back from injury, we need him to take the risk he use to take when he had nicholas jackson in his side

Exciting player to watch. Palmer deserves number 10 shirt.

There were moments he would have passed forward but delayed to pass. Those are things he needs to work on

@MBryn
@

This was hardly peak Palmer, Palmer is 1000x better than this!!

@WD_R
@

if ths low iq roseinior stop them running like headless chickens. Chelsea will win every game.

@vinay33310

He looked brilliant yesterday. Very sharp picking out defence splitting passes. Was the brightest spark on the pitch. Hope he goes to the World Cup.

@TheShaneGuy
@

His technical abilities are higher than the rest of the players at the pitch

@Saadswidiq
@

Rashford / Kane / Palmer
Rice / Bellingham
Anderson
O'Riley / Gahei / Konsa / James
Pickford.

@Stuart-rs3xd
@

He is no where near his best
Still too slow

@Freetechguybro
@

He hold the ball too long. He need to pass the ball when the window of opportunity is available but he hold it too long then try to do too much. Pass the ball quicker.

@ChelseaConagain
@

Honestly Palmer used to be better than this, the injury really took him back like 5 steps

@topenoel1931
@

He is talking too many touches

@ChelseaConagain
@

I agree he looked very good yesterday in the match, sadly many of the others players did not reach his level. Foden was poor I thought. Also as I have noticed with Chelsea Cole is nearly fully match fit but again the other players are off the boil.

@dennisstaines8005
@

Let him take corners instead of Neto

@kavishsree430
@

He needs to be on the plane

@rockmancreations
@

Glad he got the number 10.

@Nixedon
@

Rosenior should just play him No.10 on a floating position

@r.kgorman4698
@

He is good but at times takes too long to release the ball. Some direct killer passes but he chose to keep the ball.

@Eden-k6y
@

I think something is going in the club, besides three players cannot be good while the rest of the players doing rubbish, besides they play with top top players that's why it easy for them to play along

@AbigailLovia
@

The usual easy route and they are no good at that

@andrewgleeson8862
@

Imaging some stupid English fans and Madia wrighting hime off because he was injury palmer is the most natural gifted player England have currently he doesn't force things form is temporary class is permanent

@MustDau
@

I'd have him in my starting 11 every time. A something from nothing player.

@matt9942-g5g
@

He definitely benching Saka, Madueke or Rogers
