there are other brands with links to nazi Germany in addition to Chanel :Volkswagen & BMW (Bavarian Motor Works)… probably others. Here in USA, during WWII , Henry Ford pressured Washington not to allow Jewish refugees into America.

I think she was a British spy hence Churchill’s support.

I acknowledge Coco's great talent and creation of timeless designs. However, she clearly collaborated with the Nazis. When France was liberated, her head should have been shaved just like the other female collaborators. She should have gone to prison too. Her name was forever stained.

When allegations of Chanel's collaberation came out both my maternal and paternal families boycotted her label. I did as well to this day (I'm 66). Also my father who was senior coroporate mgmt (oil) for 45 years (Latin America) boycotted Castro's Cuban cigars. My brother at 67 boycotts them too !

I have heard many times that Chanel was a Nazi collaborator, but have yet to read any definitive proof or evidence. What if Chanel was working with the French Resistance and passing false information to the Nazi's or giving the Resist information she had obtained from the Nazi's? None of us know how we would act if a friend or family member was about to be thrown into a truck and driven to a camp to be gassed, beaten , starved or shot. People wanting to shave her head is so typical of human beings wanting to punish others acting in a judgemental and self righteous way. We all think we know how we would respond in part situations but really we don't know until we are in that situation.

Great documentary.. Very well done.. Stuck to the facts none of this FemiNazi nonsense.. As a man it is very difficult to watch documentaries on great females in history because of the FemiNazi lecturing.. Great Documentary..

This awful little woman was a willing Nazi collaborator and spy and was complicit in the betrayal and deportation of many French Jews, some of whom she had been close friends with before the war. I marvel at how people like you all glorify and laud this treasonously despicable antisemite and unrepentant Nazi sympathizer. She is the epitome and personification of what Hannah Arendt said about Adolf Eichmann (and countless people like him), Adolf Hitler's willing henchman of the Holocaust, who systematically planned and zealously orchestrated the deportation and slaughter of millions of Jews during his infamous 1962 trial in Jerusalem in her famous work, Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil, which I posted below. Anyone who celebrates and praises this woman is no better than she was, and each of you should be utterly ashamed. SMDH

"The trouble with Eichmann was precisely that so many were like him, and that the many were neither perverted nor sadistic, that they were, and still are, terribly and terrifyingly normal. From the viewpoint of our legal institutions and of our moral standards of judgment, this normality was much more terrifying than all the atrocities put together."
— Hannah Arendt (1906-1975), Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report of the Banality of Evil (1963)

Collaboration/Delation exist since the beginning of time. All it takes is someone treathening you and your family well being in a situation of unrest. It's easy, reprehensible and is the base of Project 25 if one is elected on Nov 25.

What a foul woman. She never had a good word for any of her fellow designers. Using Nazi laws to fleece investors.

And when it’s all said and done, I disliked the perfume and the clothes bored me. The woman hedged her bets, both sides but ultimately the Jewish family maintained and grew the business. But, I still don’t like the designs or the purses. Too matronly for me. Great documentary, enjoyed it.

this is why I'm super careful when I purchase designer, (the reason I'm here is that I wanted to get a Channel item, and I thought I better check to see where this history comes from) usually designer houses come with a dark past and I refuse to support what they stand for.

This highly revered woman who designed hats, clothing appears to have lived different lives in order to get to reach her material goals. Lost respect of an individual whom I thought earned her way to fame.
