Clark Stinks & Why Property Taxes Are Soaring and How To Fight Back
Video Overview & Insights
It’s time for "Clark Stinks!" Christa reads the latest "Clark Stinks!" submissions and Clark responds. Also, with real estate values skyrocketing past the rate of inflation, homeowners across the country are facing massive property tax hikes—and in some cases, people are literally being priced out of their homes. The core idea should be simple: no one should be forced out of their home due to runaway tax bills. You can appeal on your own, hire a specialized company, or bring in an attorney for larger commercial properties. The key is to act fast: pay close attention to your assessment, check the math, and fight for your money!
After CVS almost gave me a heart attack wanting $444 for one on my wife's Alzheimer's 90 day supply good Rx only wanted $76 at a Shop rite in the getto and around $120 in a nice Shop Rite area. CVS will not allow me to use Gold RX because we are paying over $240 A month for a Medicare Prescription plan.

Clark, you should investigate homestead and school tax exemption fraud and abuse. Counties and school districts lose countless and vast amount amounts of revenue due to this. Then the honest taxpayers have to make up for it because a County wont do the rollback millage rate. Commissioner's that want it get out voted. There is a true abuse and fraud of homestead exemptions. I asked WSB to look into this, specifically you.

The sad truth is that no one has a clue, we all react to what happens as it happens and try to analyse it but can’t predict an iota of what is going to unfold in the markets… content creators are like amplifiers, when times are good they affirm it and try to tell you why it’s good and that it’s looking bullish but then all of a sudden the market turns bearish and everyone affirms it again and try to analyse why… it’s so sad that many are so powerless and it's not about guessing the market's next move; it's about playing it smart and steady during trading...managed to grow a nest egg of around 2.3Bitcoin to a decent 19Bitcoin in the space of a few months.Thanks once again, Seren Wintersun., for your consistent updates and continued support.

Real estate property taxes were frozen for citizens 62 and older here in Missouri recently. So what does our super woke Democrat Socialist mayor in our city propose? A 12.5% increase in our sales tax rate! She says that she needs more money to support fire and police service, but it is really for her woke agenda.

I think the property taxes shouldn't be based on the property value, but on what it costs to the city to provide services for that property. That is the purpose of the property tax in the first place.

I am not naive, I realize community services must be funded. My beef with property taxes is that in the same neighborhood, just because my neighbor doesn't have the same property value as me, we are charged a different rate for the same exact services.

Property taxes are soaring because the home values have gone way up.
Bought my house in 1990 for $150k. Small raised ranch, 1/2 acre. It’s now valued at $375k. Property taxes are $6,713 annually. I live in Connecticut.
My daughter, who lives an hour away, has a home 3x the size of mine, on 7 acres. Her property tax is $2500 more than mine. The differences are crazy.
I think it all depends on what the makeup of the town’s base is. For instance, my town has no big retail stores, no fast food chains, except for 2 Dunkin’ Donuts. Not a lot of businesses. It relies mostly on property taxes. A lot of that money goes to the upkeep of our schools (three middle schools and one high school), and one large baseball field. We also have a large recreation area with a lake, basketball court, and picnic areas with a pavilion on one side of town, and on the other side, we have another recreation area with a pavilion and hiking trails. Our town has 2 large lakes, 4 farms, and an equestrian center.
I’m not sure what comprises my daughter’s town base. But they do have a lot more businesses.

Newsom and Sacramento have been trying to repeal Prop. 13, which for years has always been the 3rd rail of California politics. They want to tax us out to get free housing for illegals, or as they're better known "future Democrat Socialists."

Schools are the ones driving property taxes up. Fifty‑six percent of my bill goes to school projects that don’t make kids any smarter. We keep getting new auditoriums, football fields, and other administrator pet projects instead of real academic improvement.

Checks. I am very careful with my my monthly check. Yes, only 1. For my rent. I live in Seattle. I live in Hud housing. Over a decade ago, Seattle Housing thought they could save money by going to an out-of-state processor. However, what happened was a double whammy to those who tried using their bank's bill pay. This caused their PAPER CHECKS sent through their eastern centralized banks to be payed after the management's late fee went into effect. They had to travel from the residents' eastern city to the eastern processor for management. After about about a year SHA changed their processor back to one in SEATTLE and lengthened the period before rent is considered late to account for mail times from out-of-state bill paying banks. I just went back to mailing my check from within Seattle. It is the only check i write every month. In 30 years it has never been stolen.
I write it on the first of the month and mail it via my apartment building's outgoing mail slot in our secure mailboxes setup. If the first business day, Monday-Friday, minus holidays, is after the first business day is after a weekend, i put it in the mailbox that day (usually Monday). That way there much less time for someone to try to break into the outgoing mailbox slot.
By the way, i monitor my
Checking account daily until until the check comes in. I have also tried to arrange other electronical payments to leave my account AFTER the rent is received so the money is there to pay the rent.
I only have SSI, so my money is deposited on the first of the month, or the last business day of the previous month if the first is on a holiday or the weekend. bills are on the forth or later.
⭐️Oh, the banks are supposed to be processing electronic payments immediately by law now, but Chase still waits until the evening to do this as in the past. This change is in recognition of electronic instantaneous payment transaction times that are being used by banks.
Other countries, such as those in the EU, already do this. This means that we can not depend on USA traditional lag times in check cashing.

Our Promise to You:
Hello Clark. Great Content. Our property taxes are evaluated just as you stated. Sales of similar properties. We have lucked out with discounts on Homestead, over 65, and solar panels. Look for discounts and apply for them.
Why are schools asking for more than inflation when the number of kids are shrinking? I have seen one case where the state reduced their contribution, and schools are asking for increases in property tax. My understanding is schools are primarily funded by property tax.
Have a Blessed day.

I have been stuck with a late fee on my credit card by being just a day late. I now pay my credit card off every 2 weeks, thus never late.
@verasearle7570This is what’s happening to us. Real estate taxes in NJ are out of control! We got a forever home and taxes are forcing us to move! The Democrats really did a number on us. How the hell do they justify inviting non citizens to this country and paying their bills while the rest of us can’t make ends meet!
@Caroline-rt7qxGooderx!!
@OhyeahImFineWe are in our late 70s, and a few years ago here in Missouri, we as seniors were allowed to LOCK our property tax at that date and it will never increase as long as we live in the home. No worry here.
@dmjh932It’s not just property taxes; nearly every cost of living expense is surging. From cell phones, smartwatches, and home services to essentials like groceries, gasoline, medical insurance, and vehicle maintenance, inflation is hitting everywhere. With companies like Roku raising prices by 60% following recent acquisitions, it’s becoming a difficult financial landscape to navigate. Hang on to your wallet—this is a crazy ride.
@pointreyes4272I just love these two!!
@jeannet1059Feel bad for the staff who have to deal with the uber drivers- some of them are aggressive and not nice (not all of course but you started recognizing the ones that were). They come immediately after picking up a job and sometimes they need 20-30 minutes because of preparation or orders ahead of them and are frustrated about it.
@MB-km5hhFlorida is doing away with property taxes.
@tincanboatDrugs are much cheaper in Mexico and Canada and may be worth the drive. Trump still says he lowered RX costs by 800%. 😅😂
@DroolingFoolI'm a Canadian Living in USA. I started investing a week ago. I started with 3k, now I am over $11,991 It's a great start with stock market. Thank😘🎉
State and Local governments are a big part of the problem of making things unaffordable. No more property taxes, archaic system open to so many issues. Base on income is the fairest way. You should not pay for Government evaluating property value wrong. Why should people be forced to hire/pay for a lawyer to correct their mistake.
@X-jw8jfIMO, property taxes should be eliminated. It is almost like a time share, you really never know how much it is going to cost you in the future. Last year when I went to pay my property taxes, there was two women in line ahead of me and I could tell by the conversations they had that they were going to have a hard time paying their property taxes. Foreclosures, for property taxes, in the county I live in have gone up double digits year over year. If they are not going to eliminate them, then at least increase the exemption to $400K, depending on where you live it could be more or less, so that families will not lose their homes.
@ReclaimingMyTime-rz5bzParents putting money into a 529 - you need to check with assets are counted and which are NOT counted for student financial aid (which can include elements that do not need to be paid back such as grants, scholarships, and work study.) Financial aid is based on the student's and parents' financial situation TWO YEARS before a student enters college, i.e. December of the student's SOPHOMORE year in high school. Generally for a state college what is in retirement accounts and equity in a primary resident is NOT counted in the asset column on the FAFSA - so is it better for you to save in a 529 OR pump up your retirement accounts and pay down your mortgage? Also, a 529 in a grandparent's name is not counted as an asset for the student or parent.
@Carpediemx365Good Rx can save a lot of money BUT you cannot use what you pay against your drug deductible if you are on Medicare Part D - so choose what works best. Yes, the system stinks.
@Carpediemx365Pension schemes and government unions, banking monopolies are behind this.
Americans have been dumbed down into a worship of government workers which allows the government to redistribute your wealth.
Tar & Feathers used to keep greedy government workers in check, but America is such a weak country now.
Best is not to serve any government workers- don't sell them food, fuel, or services, shun them in public.
Government workers are filthy creatures who eat only from the plates of others using violence.
In Vermont, if your income is below a certain amount ($115K), your property taxes on your homestead (primary home and 2 acres) are capped at a certain percentage of your income.
@B.H.56We sold our home in 2022 because the property taxes had doubled in six years, and the HOA fees increased 60%. The coming financial reset of these bloated, wasteful city and county governments and school districts will be epic to watch.
@TimAZ-ih7ybI'm not completely clear on the proposal here in FL, but I don't trust the government here so I'm voting no. My property tax went up 64% this year but was not because of valuation, rather because of special assessments. I don't think it waives school taxes, either. I won't save much of anything, but I am sure I'll get even fewer services in my low-income, old neighborhood of manufactured and mobile homes, some dating back to the 1960s.
@Nemo-yn1spMost pharmacies,if not all, reject the good rx discount when I tried to use it
@MrUpierI love Clark stinks

@lilinurio8348When a politician votes for a tax increase, that should be the end of their political career. That politician is not worthy of another vote ever!
@pjj5840I look forward to the Clark stink song but Crista started in with questions too fast this morning.
@kdani11956I'm sure this will be declared heresy in the Clark Community, but at what point in one's life does chasing after an ever-larger amount of money become simply a "waste of life"? I mean, this is the lifestyle that has "created" Clark and become a brand for him, so I'm not speaking about Clark personally, he gets a pass on this. But for the rest of us, who have a limited bandwidth of mental capacity, chasing credit card points and airline miles and clipping coupons and chasing rewards and switching cards and finding the absolute best deal on bananas and eggs this week simply becomes exhausting, and is not something I want occupying my thoughts for most hours of the day. My old man repeated a limerick once to me that stuck, it went,
There was an old hermit named Dave
Who spent his whole life in a cave
He said I'll admit
I'm a bit of a shit
But look at all the money I save!
Bottom line, if you're past the point of being "secure" and are considering giving significant amounts of money away eventually, at what point does saving a buck here and a buck there simply become self-indulgent and petty? I'm reminded of the 1930's film with our old friend Scrooge, where he's eating in a tavern at the end of a very long workday, and he asks the table boy for more bread. The kid sheepishly replies that it will cost extra (likely pennies), and Scrooge, one of the richest men in town, thinks about it, shakes his head and mutters, "No bread", denying himself even that simple but necessary staple of life. For those who find it a challenge and chasing the best deal is still "fun" for them, then knock your socks off. But for the rest of us? I still enjoy listening to Clark and do comparison shop for big-ticket items. But on bananas, it's simply "deminimus" at this point in my life. As a "Clarkie", do I need to feel guilty about that?
Clark you have mentioned you pay your credit card bills twice a month, what does that do?
@donaldrhyne9417Christa you are better than ever!!!😀
@steveg1927One problem with taxes, is people and politicians have added services to government, that really government should not be involved in.
Yes, we like some of these services since they are “free “ not really though. So either you pay for theses increases or expect services to be cut. Each government segment should be required to review their services, the financial payments of that segment to see if the services are really needed or was it just a political decision or how much “ fraud “ in the payment system exists as we have seen in Federal programs and several state programs.
Some people must be paid by Zelle. They could also just be super trusting of tech. Those safety measures aren't that reassuring
@hockeyhalod
