CBS Radio Mystery Theater ~ Bottom of the World 647
Video Overview & Insights
Arctic scientists must escape when threatened by a planetary catastrophe.
The closer you listen, the worse it gets.
Air Dates: First Run - May 6, 1977
Repeat - September 24, 1977
These could be great but if you’ll notice how the stories end you’ll hear the problem. Instead but allowing the stories to end naturally, instead of allowing us to hear the ending the host steps in and explains how it ends. The play runs up towards the end but then we get an explanation of how it ends instead of an ending. For some reason it’s how CBS Radio Theater does it.
Actors:
Griffis, William

@TheRocker27I remember hearing one of these shows on an old radio in my great aunt's house in Pittsburgh. The 1970s was the last decade of the real America.
@chrisikaris5891prolly not ai
thank goodness
I live in the south Florida area, Many of us have cut the cable because their prices are outrageous and they offer nothing interesting and FM radio is atrocious, I'm hearing all the same music that I did growing up in the 80s which I'm fond of but it's the same 2 or 3 songs from the same artists as if they made nothing else, thankfully I find these old throwback stories that used to be on the radio long ago when I was very little, happy to hear them again
@philipsoton92622026 and gotta be honest I was rooting for the current World Leaders ship to be shot into the sun before it even came up.
@rossr10052 years ago, back in 1974. I have my first job. My first girlfriend. My first car. I was working for a Pre--Big Box, retail store. With my first girlfriend who was the manager.
We would close at 10 PM. We would get a bite to eat. Then we would head to the loch Raven reservoir and lovers Lane.
At midnight, the CBS Radio chemistry Theater with EG Marshall. Would come on the air. And me and my girlfriend would sit there. In my 1974 Pinto. Transfixed on the CBS Radio Mystery Theater. It was great!
Here we were in the early 1970.. Getting to experience. What our parents only had themselves. Not that terribly many years ago. Before the age of television. It was incredible! It was like being in the middle of the story. It was fabulous! As I had become a Young Broadcaster myself. And I would spend the next 50 years, broadcasting at the Top. Working for NBC News in Washington DC.
And I will always love and cherish. Those nights in the car. Really enjoying the CBS Radio Mystery Theater with EG Marshall. It was like taking a step back in time. It was awesome!
This was so much part of our American history. This is where it all happened. In the USA. This is where the world began in the 20th century.
Those were the days my friend. We thought they'd never end? Until all my friends started, dropping like flies and dying. Now life isn't as fun anymore at 70. Everyone's dead? Except for me and my monkey.
No monkeys were hurt in the posting of this, comment.

@michaelAndrews-t8q7oI pulled in WBBM Newsradio 78 from Wisconsin back in 1977
@kenfrievalt7826How effin wrong were they on the energy prediction? Sounding like Al Gore with those sea level comments.
@dalereher8714Suppose there was oil in the moon . Just Suppose.

@sarge4455Ice station zebra.
@danocableIn my childhood bedroom I used to dx with my cheap am cube radio. Listening to otr ( old time radio) was like time travel back to the olden days of my father's childhood.
I think I ruined my normal sleep patterns as the nighttime has always been associated with travel, wonder and imagination.
I didn’t expect much at first, but this video turned out to be really engaging.
@GoldenAgeThrillerTheater01The shadow knows
@dsanders5142Bad audio.
@MegaLokidogAre you still listening ?
@BenderFlinstoneI had to yell, DUN DUN DUUUUN!!!!a few times. This is great, thank you 😊
@susanday3478My wife had a stroke last year, so she took up knitting as physical therapy. I figured I'd learn to knit right along with her, so our evenings are usually spent listening to these great old radio programs while we knit scarves and hats for our grandkids.
@teptimeНу что же,спасибо за рассказ,хотя я ни хрена не понял😂

@David-i6v1r🌐
@David-i6v1rSeems like the futuristic portrait in drama is becoming a reality! The fond memories of 1977!
@daonfpeWhen I was young my grandfather used to put this on at his hunting cabin . We would stay at the cabin for 4 days and nights then we would listen to these before sleep
@Joshuinha2016Growing up in the 70s we had one of those big stereo consoles with huge speakers on each end and you lifted the top up where the record player and radio were. My brother and I would come down to the living room in our pajamas sit by the speakers and listen to these old timey mystery radio shows. The one I remember the most was where the killer tomato plants would grow on you while you slept 😲
@ruralhappy2835R.I.P. E G Marshall
thank you for uploading, this is great
this back in the day at night, on a windy day, maybe with a dim light around the radio would have been so awesome, especially as a kid
@CheapSushiHa! A day away from 2026 and trying to escape the news of Poland, Estonia, and Lithuania protecting their borders vs Russia; China firing missiles over Taiwan; US falling apart. Too ironic

Good guess
@billkingston4402Oh my god EG Marshal, mystery theater. Look it was different in the early seventies , right after the tumultuous sixty’s. Unless you were a young person then you would not understand how different things were, but by listening to this you might get an idea. People would be in there vw bug or at home listening to mystery theater. Priceless.
