Writing for the album began in 2015. Derelicts returns to the sound of Hydroponic Garden, World of Sleepers, and Interloper, after their experiment into drone on the album Twentythree.

So, it was 2020 when i lost my mother and found this album. From that day, the emotions that it carried left a lot in me. I found as freedom from grief that time. Came back to listen now in June 2026. How nostalgia can bring back the sense of loss, and apparently CBL is the only band that can bring back the smell of the past as well. Gratitude from Bangladesh. Loss aversion from Carbon Based Lifeforms.💌

Saw them live for the first time recently. Fantastic gig. Chilled, but built into a very danceable set, the place was jumping by the end. Loved every minute.

@omvendtslevI finally gave this album a listen while knitting and I loved it. It made me feel like I'm in a post-apocalyptic/alien world exploring a derelict alien ship.
It was so therapeutic for me and it helped me cope with depression and feelings of failure after I got fired from a job at a supermarket (I'm 23 y/o autistic and I struggled to keep up with the fast workplace and I made several mistakes on completing tasks just three days into the job after a year of job searching). So, I needed that when I was at my lowest.
Thank you CBL for the amazing ambient music experience ❤
