Review of the New Calman Home
I have been using Calman Home for a long time, and I would like to share some observations about the latest version.
1. Interface and Usability
The large button at the top of the interface feels unnecessary and adds clutter.
The previous version was cleaner, more intuitive, and easier to navigate.
2. Continuous Verification Option
The app currently enforces continuous verification of settings, which can be cumbersome for users who only want to check their calibration occasionally.
This feature should be optional, allowing users to choose when to perform tests rather than forcing constant verification.
3. OLED Calibration
During OLED tests, the panel seems to overheat or remain stressed at around 10% window size, which is noticeable.
The current OLED settings feel unusual compared to previous guidance (e.g., earlier recommendations were 5/5/30%).
There should be a recommended OLED option, providing a safe and practical configuration for home users.avoiding panel stress.
4. Recommended Settings Description
There should be a clear description of recommended settings, including options such as 10-bit or 8-bit color modes, to guide home users on how to configure Calman Home for optimal results.
Providing this guidance would make the software more user-friendly and reduce trial-and-error, especially for users less experienced with display calibration.

Hello. Could you please tell me how you managed to accurately follow the EOTF brightness in HDR at the 27 level (slightly below the brightness target)?
Did I understand correctly that this is an OLED TV, where a brightness of “0” was measured at level 16? I have an LG OLED G3. I wrote to support, and yesterday I received a response from support with a dismissive reply that they suggested changing the device without trying to understand the issue.
My EOTF does not start with zero brightness; it begins with several candelas. I cannot figure out why this is happening. I am using a spectrophotometer measurement device, the i1 Pro 2, which has a Newton prism inside. The prism splits the spectrum into wavelengths in 3.5 nm steps — there are 101 sensors in total that read the incident spectrum and transmit the data to CalMan. The program should determine the measured chromaticity and brightness by calculating the weighted average value based on the spectra and their brightness. I don’t understand why it doesn’t start the EOTF graph from 0.
