Bombshell Evidence Explodes in Track Meet Murder Trial
Video Overview & Insights
The murder trial of 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony began with intense public interest, as hundreds lined up outside the Collin County courthouse for a limited number of seats. Prosecutors argued Anthony provoked and fatally stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet, claiming the killing was unjustified and not an act of self-defense. Defense attorneys countered that Anthony, an honor student and athlete, acted in a split second out of fear after Metcalf made physical contact with him, while jurors viewed surveillance footage capturing the entire incident and heard emotional testimony. Law&Crime’s Chris Stewart, alongside Court TV’s Cody Thomas, are On the Case.

Bottom line, this could also have been fatal if he had been punched at just the right spot at his temple or Adams apple. 🙄Stop emphasizing as to WHY 'he brought a knife to a track meet' ... seems more like he always carries it with him and it was simply in his backpack while he was at a track meet.

5:36 Metcalf decided to be the 'big man on campus' and take matters into his own hands. Could have (should have) gone to get an adult official to handle the situation. PERIOD Everybody would be saying this exact same thing if the players were reversed!!

Yall seem to forget that Austin was bullying the kid. Austin is much bigger than that kid. Austin was acting big and bad, even pushing and hitting the kid and got put in the dirt due to self defense. Yall need to teach your kids the disadvantages of bullying people. Most kids have guns at school and y'all worried about why he had a knife. If Austin would've not bullied and physically assaulted that kid then he would still be alive. A valid point that y'all biased people seem to forget.

But it’s okay for a grown man to chase down and shoot a 14yr old in the back…. I’m tired of this. If it was reversed, everyone would be defending the kid for standing his ground. I don’t wish that anyone dies ever, but teach your kids to keep their hands to themselves. Leave us tf alone.

The incident itself isn't alleged.
@ldybg51THIS PAGE IS LYING!!! WHERES THE FIGHT!!! WHY DID THE BULLY HIM!!!...I SEE WHAT YOURE DOING!!!
@chitown3622I'm not hearing "starkly different" in any of the reports of testimony. Simply worded different with pretty similar meanings
@ldybg51Can we stop calling it "the biggest mistake of his life"... Karmelo made a choice the minute he brought that weapon with him to the track meet.
@viviennebryant3602Force has to meet the same force given. The only way Carmelo could use the knife is if he is getting beaten to death. You cant just pull a weapon because someone says something you don't like.
@johnray3927Never bring a knife to a fist fight. Even if Karmelo was afraid for his life, the first option he had was to reach out to a teacher.
Bringing the knife to school denotes premeditation towards murder; which can't be perceived as self-defence.
This is a wake up call to anyone choosing to use deadly force that isn’t proportionate to the threat faced...just don't. Seek help, or suffer the consequences of your actions.
Just imagine what might not have happened if the team had welcomed him under the tent to get out of the rain instead of aggressively telling him to leave. What authority did Metcalf have to tell anyone to leave? Isn't that the job of the coaches or some other authority figure? Just imagine what might not have happened if there wasn't a push or shove, which is assault and battery? This entire incident wouldn't have happened at all, or at least not the same way with the same tragic result.
The next question to ask ourselves is why anyone would have a knife at a track event, and why it was in an open position? Just imagine what might not have happened if Anthony didn't have a deadly weapon in his possession that day. Just imagine what might not have happened if his ego had allowed him to just walk away. Obviously, he knew where to find his coach. Why was he anywhere near the other team and not with his own team and coach? Why weren't they given some kind of tent or canopy to go under as the other team had? These are important questions that only the school or the team coaches themselves can answer and should. This tragic incident could have been completely avoided if there had been more responsible administrators in the first place. They created the opportunity for this to happen by providing more for one team than the other and not interfering in this confrontation before it became violent, but I guess nobody really considers those questions and facts. There are more people to be held accountable than Karmelo Anthony alone. Or am I wrong about that?
I'm 7 mins into this report and this will be my last time listening to this source. There is SO MUCH DETAIL that you've ALREADY left out of your report thus far. Details about who was and WASN'T even suppose to be there, details about what led and the REASONING the suspect walking under the canopy. Details about what was said between the suspect and deceased who so far according to info appeared to be THE AGGRESSOR, the 6'1 200+ lbs aggressor bullying the 5'6 100 and some pound suspect. If the defense does a gender role swap from the suspect to being a woman his size, touched and fearful because of size then it will be a wrap for the prosecutors who have gone for a max penalty. Also, you are correct there are no cameras allowed into the courtroom, you are incorrect that this is the best place for information. There are MANY independent journalist and citizen journalist on the ground AND IN THE COURT room taking notes and reporting back. There was A LOT of information that was revealed today via enhanced footage of the event that corroborate so far what the suspect said led to him going to the tent.
@LPAFilmTo violently stab someone to death is especially heinous. There is no rehabilitation. Life without parole is the only proper sentence.
@ninob411The Metlcalf family and the Anthony camp????
It be your own ppl
No one deserves to die. But Austin also could have went and got his s coach an had karmelo removed. But no he just had to be a tuff guy.
@moneyman0703Such an open and shut case, why is this even an political issue. Don't bring weapons to prohibited events... walk away
@blakesmith6829There was NOT a rain delay!
@jnmorris1ifyAnthony SHOULD BE SENT to Prison!
@amandahugandkiss636You never bring a knife to a cross meet 🤷♀️
@amandahugandkiss636Wait, yesterday, you said that people have individual tents and each school's team, have their tents, and you weren't sure why camello was in anthony's tent? 😳
@MissGodsChildGuilty! Put his @$$ in prison.
@Ih8nineWhy is this even a trial? SMH. He deserves the death penalty.
@AgustinRodriguezIIILet’s see him play a game of chess..
@dustinb-dtownAgonal breathing.
@nordicbastard7If he could leave after the stabbing, why could he not leave before then? Guilty!
@jamngamnWait why no one is mentioning that 4 guys jumped Carmelo Anthony? The fella was in fear of his life being bullied and beat by 4 kids!!
@WalterSandiferIIIAnyone with a brain knows what happened here. First degree murder. Case closed.
@nordicbastard7So glad they struck those women from the jury because they absolutely would of voted not guilty regardless of the evidence
@jaquantraySomeone else should have been doing this interview like the guy who normally does them
@tyrann1667Not sure why they went for 1st degree murder instead of 2nd degree which seems like it'd be easier to prove. Pre-meditation can be subjective at times.
@theginjaninja6885Segregate..stay away from them as much as possible.
@avidimprover1286I’ve been in many fights, confrontations, and arguments in a civilian capacity, and not one ended in a death. Why? No weapons.
Dude brought a knife and killed someone, it’s pretty simple.
Juror color is inconsequential in this; we are all peers in the justice system.
@SaladSlapsDidn’t his family buy a new house and 100,000$ Cadillac and that was supposed to go to attorneys. 😂 dudes gonna fry in prison.
@RiverBankRay>fighting for his future
his future is forfeit by his own hand
Very many men carry pocket-knives on a daily basis, particularly in Texas. I recall two young ROTC students in VA stabbing a murderous gunman to his death in a classroom just a few months ago with knives. What is concerning is that 17 year old child being tried as an adult for a tragically ended fight and being given a jury that is clearly not his peers. What are they so afraid of? Charge the child accordingly and allow him a truly fair trial by a jury of his peers.
@TomBacoteHe was only sad when the coach said your life will change if he dies. He cried for himself not what he did
@smithjw1980ifyImagine if every little High school shoving match ended with someone stabbed to death and the murderer claiming self defense.
