@DorothyKhalil-e8t7:30 rewatching this and had an epiphany - he was known to get "bored" and check out of conversations, right? I'll bet his mom had told him about his grandpa and he just didn't listen. Then when the body was sent home, she asked Dennis if he wanted to see his grandpa like you'd ask anyone if they'd want to attend a viewing before the burial.
