When you are young you don't realize how fantasy it is to imagine a life-long, childhood friendship intimacy that made up who you both are as person. It will constantly play a loss of innocence theme in the back of your mind. How much you yearn the thing. How impossible it is. How you know that it exist somewhere for someone but not you. Not this lifetime.
anyway I can totally understand anyone who think the latter half is garbage. There is two places that is not as neat (sloppy) as other details of the rest of the chapters that kinda make you disillusioned with the realism of the story you are invested in. anyway, maybe those parts are meant to be on other media. it would have been no problem
