Weâve got our hands on every generation of BMW M3, and theyâre about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile to find out just how far the M3 has evolved over the generations.

The question is, how different will the performance be across these cars? After all, we can already see in the stats just how different they are. The E30 M3 rolls up with a 2.3-litre 4 cylinder that can produce 200hp and 240Nm, whilst the G80 is packing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that can produce 510hp and 650Nm!
So surely itâll be a clean sweep for the G80, right? Or could an older edition spring a surprise? Thereâs only one way to find out⊠LETâS RACE!

This was the same story with the Z car generations, you need to let the cars with only 100-200 hp take off first let them get out of 2nd gear then start the race!

@bobbydelamar606As an E92 owner in Germany, thus far, I have not had an E46 pull away from me like that. The combination of wheel spin and early shifts not taking advantage of the high red line is a shame.
@TheMerc1950we all know the E30 is not a fast car but I completely refuse to believe it does quarter mile in 17 sec. There is obviously a major problem with either the mechanical condition or the driver. Yes it's only 200 hp but it's signficantly lighter.
@francoisloriot2674Then again, being on 3rd gear is not exactly the same when you're picking from 5, 6 or 8 gears...

@RickJammesUntil this race, I almost forgot that BMW used to use ITB engines!
That, in my opinion, is also why they sounded so great during the sound checks!
It would be awesome to see BMW bring another ITB motor back for a special edition or something.
