Blade Runner Original RECAP - Everything You Need to Know Before Blade Runner 2049
Video Overview & Insights
Before you watch Blade Runner 2049, you might want to know some info about the Original Blade Runner movie from 1982. BLADE RUNNER PRIMER: Why are there multiple versions of the film, and which version of Blade Runner should you watch -- the 1982 theatrical release, the 1992 director's cut, or the 2007 final cut? Erik Voss offers his Blade Runner recap and explains everything you need to know about both movies, including the mystery at the end of the film (is Deckard a replicant?), why the ending was changed in later versions, and what influence the film has had on things like The Matrix, Westworld, Ex Machina, Ghost in the Shell, and Battlestar Galactica.
It must be late in the day for pygmies to catch such long shadows

Edward Laau
TJ Smith
I would also recommend people to watch the Blade Runner 2022: Blackout. It's just 19 mins of animation linking the event of 2019 with 2049
Stephen Bratcher
Lori Denning
04:54 Ref. Westworld TV series - The Westworld film (1973, with Yul Brynner) is precedent of the Blade Runner movie, but the book Electric Sheep is from 1968 (influenced by Theodore Sturgeon's work).

Just watched the Final Cut as my first time. It was somewhat confusing but it played into the noire of the film. I was expecting a sci-fi action thriller but was pleasantly surprised by a thoughtfully existential drama. There’s a lot to be desired with the characters but the blank spaces are the interesting aspects of Blade Runner. Stoked to see the sequel now

You are as cute as a button.
@KevinOnEarth_I need the story of Blade runner 1 so that I can watch 2049, wtf is this video for ???
so bad
Algo crackup: Positive, very helpful, super good content, thanks for the video, subscribed!
While the "Final Cut" is widley considered to be the best, the movie is great enough that each and every version works. Regardless of what cut you watch, you will get the message and everything that makes the movie so brilliant.
@ehstudiosSo dogshit get to the point wtf
@JessiecoonjamesI didn't learn a single thing
@SuperFartymanthe 2007 ending is sort of dark and mostly understood by movie buffs and existentialism and nihilism suffering people
but the previous ending make the whole film look like shit so yes the previous one btw we found the inspiration of spiderman.
and there should be little more dialogues to make it watchable and to translate the vibe.
Everything everywhere all at once is a visual spectacle and did it better.

@redlyred1372thanks I didn't watched Blade runner in 80's cause I didn't like it's starting, ( that time we use to send money on rental vedio cassette) and 4 movies back to back on rental vcr for night.
didn't watched BR:2049 too, but today after seeing your review, I am watching it. now.
thank you for your review
by the way I am 52 now
I’m watching this in 2022 and Erick lookin different
@FredyHernandezProductionsReplicants, Synths, Clones etc etc been here since before 1968. That’s scary
@WillFyeTVIn all honesty, after watching the 2049 by accident first, then watching this video in the middle of watching 2049 to figure out what the hell I was watching, I'm completely OK with never going back and watching the earlier movies of this "cult movie series".
I don't get any of it and don't really care to follow this movie any further than the first hour of 2049. I won't say it's a thumbs down, but it was an extreme waste of my time.
Very thorough recap, thank you.
@spendingtimetogether8428Damn he didn't age well
@bubu_heheThis was so helpful and informative. Can't wait to watch both now.
@bigmarika19Ryan Gosling ruined the film
@jsavak99amazing
@momofofomemeThe nod in Loki e1 where Loki was asked if he was an android, to which he responded hesitantly, is a callback to films like Blade Runner.
@ssotkowחנון
@InivGaming2049 was so much better. It was shot better, looked better, and felt more realistic. It also wasn’t as confusing as to what’s going on
@nicholasn.2883first one is waaaaaaaaay better
@marslugoI don’t even remember which version of blade runner I’ve watched
@zeex4904Honestly I thought 2049 did a way better job of capturing what the world sounded like in the books. The bright orange desert sections in particular were exactly what I imagined when reading certain passages in PKD's original novel
@apictureoffunction2049 is waaaay better
@sergeroldofhousehightower3766So how is dekard a replicant
@KAL_Brachtvogeli watched this movie just when it hit the theater’s but i was high and totally forgot that i watched it😅😂
@haronstarrOk I saw the video till 1:28 Good bye!
@atharvashukla90112049 is awful. The 4 teaser shorts are great, but the movie itself is shit. The original is one of the greatest films ever made, it's everything 2049 is not.
@terrypussypowerDetroit : Become Human too
@Kipas_MaspoinBlade Runner is one of those very meticulously detailed film where you will miss something if you blink, i.e. Rachel puffing the cigarette before striking the lighter. Even the soundtrack itself played into the motif of Blade Runner, one of my favorite track is called Memories of Green, a haunting song that evokes feeling of longing for something lost.
@EEVOLinformative . liked both version, each give different insights .
@ericv5358So it’s better to watch the 2007 version first?
@tommyboybrWatched this and still confuse. So i decided not to watch any Blade runner movies anymore :)
