Bethesda is the perfect example of "suffering from success" - after fallout 4 they felt like it's ok to do anything they want, because their formula is perfect, but it's not and starfield proved it. I'm pretty sure that Elder scrolls 6 will ultimately be a disappointment to fans (not that I want it fail tho)

I think of the remastered POS Oblivion and it's jank buggy mess and just hope and pray that Bethesda Zenimax burns to the ground. Hopeless and irrelevant in 2026

17:33 tbf their newest game of elder scrolls oblivion remake didn't flop... At least not right off the get go. No people came back in massive numbers for that shadow drop the problem never has been that they don't have pull it's that they release half ass shit and then never support it again. And on top of that virtuous did wonders with running their game off of 2 engines simultaneously. While not a new feat, the sheer scale at which they did this for oblivion. Then Bethesda getting it back to do nothing with it post launch when they didn't even have a schedule to meet because no one expected it. To then release it in the state it was is mind bogglingly stupid

Thanks for watching!

On this channel, you’ll find long-form video essays about gaming’s biggest stories from studio collapses and corporate greed to the creative risks that still push the medium forward. I break down industry trends, publisher decisions, and the economics behind how games are made, marketed, and sold.

Starfield was shit at first and now it is amazing! Play it!

— @confusedseth

Whether it’s GTA 6, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, Path of Exile 2, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Pokémon, or the next doomed live-service experiment, I cover how the industry’s biggest names keep shaping and breaking the games we play.

From deep dive analysis on publishers like EA, Bungie, Blizzard, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony, and Microsoft to commentary on indie hits like Palworld and Expedition 33, every video cuts through the marketing to get to what actually matters: how this industry works, who it’s failing, and why players deserve better.

No! Not the jacket. How is he going to stay cool without it? He can't pull off the denim look.

Simplified Shit that make people buy skins are a little to blame for where we are.

Elder Scrolls online was a very good game . Fallout 76 wasnt. I bet its better now, but at the start, i logged in, was shot by a baby with a bb gun, which made me log off that day.
What I mean is, the decline started to feel with FO76. Or actually,vwith the so called character progress system in FO4. Loved the game, hated the simplified system.

@ChuChuLainnStream

If there were any production, leaving the companies alone is a good thing. Fallout 76 now shows, as I said, that the next Fallout SP game will be released after my 50th birthday. Around 2031 ...

Can we PLEASE have a game from Bethesda with some kind of physics. IE, not creation engine. Plz!!!

14 levels of management? In the Army, as a day 1 noob your chain of command is (as I can recall. may have missed 1 or 2, but you get the idea):
(1)Team Leader
Squad Leader
Platoon,
company
(5)battalion
brigade
divison
corp
Army Chief of Staff
(10)Secretary of the Army
SecDef
(12)President

Your comment about kids born at Skyrim's release are getting their learner's permits really puts into perspective how long its been since a proper Elder Scrolls release. They really have lost an entire generation on Skryim Rereleases.

They whored out when they left Sony Playstation, Microsoft is just a really woke company and did few things themself but rather stole companies from Playstation with loads of money. That just creates wrong thinking from the start, it`s like overpaid athletes that have zero connection to their clubs but the money paid to them.

Skyrim is my favorite game, and I've been waiting for ES6 but I've gotta tell you. I do not care about their games anymore. They're changing the whole company, making it lame and gay. Sony has betrayed us, and all of them treat us like cash cows. $40 for a diablo dlc? Come on. I'm sick of getting extorted for crappy games. I don't care about ES6, Fallout 5, even GTA 6. I'm done.

Even 3 and FNV are different. It functions the same way, but FNV actually has unique models for the 'legendary' weapons.

The time it takes for them to put games out wouldn't really be an issue if those games exceeded or even met fan expectations. The problem is that they take forever to release anything and a significant part of their fan base is left wholly disappointed even when they do. They don't seem to make any effort to modernize or improve anything, they've ignored over a decades worth of customer feedback insisting its time to update or change engines, improve what they have and move forward with their IP... But still the difference in game play experience between Oblivion/Fallout 3 compared to Starfield is almost unnoticeable besides its graphics, to the point that they literally have the same bugs despite being 15 years apart and if anything the games have become increasingly less stable. Its embarrassing really.

As a long time fan of Bethesda, Starfield just felt like one too many let downs, one too many reskins of the same bug riddled Bethesda formula. One too many times that it felt like they completely "phoned in" the entire development of their newest release. Unplayable quests that don't see any fixes until 6-12 months after release. An open world that is X amount bigger but infinitely less interesting than the apocalyptic wastelands that they put out on far less powerful consoles. Honestly i'm surprised Microsoft didn't already do this the moment they purchased them. They paid way too much money to take control of a studio that quite literally insists on staying stagnant by design. Truly the laziest "AAA" game studio I can think of over the past 20 years, so bad that they make Ubisoft look almost revolutionary in comparison.

The sad thing is I was genuinely excited for Starfield, I was over the moon when they announced a new IP instead of another Fallout/Elder Scrolls, but I was so naive to think it would actually be anything different. All excitement I had for the game was literally killed off by the game itself. If it wasn't the endless loop of loading screens, it was multiple broken quests that I had to sit around and wait to get fixed. No matter how much I wanted to enjoy it, the game simply wouldn't let me. Spent a few months checking in every so often hoping to continue where I left off, eventually got fed up of waiting and started a whole new game only to encounter the exact same bugs again anyway... Needless to say I haven't launched the game since. It completely killed all interest I had in playing it and even if I was 100% certain those bugs had been fixed - I couldn't be less interested in repeating the slog of gameplay that involves mindlessly exploring so many empty planets and repeated structures. It was boring enough when it was new to me, I'd have to be a literal masochist to put myself through that again. The fact it has a narative driven new game + is laughable to me, I cant think of a worse game to sit and play through multiple times.

The main reason for so many layoffs is mostly Phil's fault lets be honest. He hired way more people then he should have, he was all about buying as many studios as possible and hiring as many people as he could. Well then this happens.

Streamers like this who support the downfall of games. You have to clarify, is Bethesda working on something and just taking a long time? Or are they not working on anything.

What your doing is complaining with a platform and enabling companies to work on a fixed time line only pushing ojt shit

@Jordanmmartinez

They should have just hire some of the best modders and create an old game with New skin and map.

There was no reason why they couldn’t have another branch work on Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield at the same time 15 years and counting is an absolute joke for a sequel + I bet Microsoft have seen the minimal amount of work done an with ES6 still years away they’ve taken Fallout off them 😂

Yeah, well rip fallout.
Obsidians way of making games is the principle of focusing on “comedy”, so if they work on fallout we will have some cringy “comedy” weapons that talk or voiced damage procs like “criiiiitiiicalll hhhhhiit!”, “rrrrradiattttion”, “mmmmega ccccraft!” Like grounded has? Hm dunno, just a thought.

@davidgaming95

Ah yes Obsidian, they released such great games past years.

I’m an SRE and I was at Zenimax for like 4 months in early 2025, and 4 months at Bungie directly before that.

These companies fucking suck. Here’s a real story from my Bungie tenure:

I need to access some system via AD, I submit a ticket to security. I wait, 3 hours pass, nothing. I think: “Hey! I’ll scoop up some other task.” Nothing available. Tell my team lead, but he’s not responding, very busy guy. Like absurdly so; every time someone would bring him up in conversation, it always included “He’s just so busy.”

It goes on and gets fucking baffling, but suffice to say you get about 2 - 3 days of work done per month.

Different teams would fight over various services and cloud resources, like a cloud secret manager. And they’d be in charge of it and write the IAC for it and manage the ACLs and stuff, and if you had a better way to do it, it would always turn into management political drama somehow. The environment was overwhelmingly hostile to getting anything done. Thinking back on it blows me away all over again.

Edit: my boss’ boss (yes the management layers are intense) introduced himself as an autodidact. He was just like “I’m so-and-so and I’m an autodidact”

Um. I don't get it. Obsidian got handed the reins between Fallout 3 and 4 as well. Has it been confirmed to be Fallout 5? Has it been confirmed that Bethesda have lost the license entirely? Is it really the end of the world if so? They have a major IP. Taking time to finish games is a good thing. You rush games you get things release incomplete or in the state No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk were on initial launch. I can't speak too much for Starfield yet as it only recently came to the PS5 and I'm yet to finish it, but outside of that, they haven't released anything all that great since Skyrim and have been riding off that thing's success ever since. Personally, I preferred Fallout 3 to 4. I've yet to finish 4 because I could never get into it quite the same. It doesn't help that they nerfed VATs so you can't live in it if you don't wanna play it as an FPS.

who?

If you had worked in any corporation, you would know that.

@DoDuDL

Bethesda definitely puts out that peaked in high school vibe out. They are just riding the wave because players keep buying 15 editions of the same game. Fallout 76 ruined Bethesda for me and I took a chance on starfield and we all know how that went.......

Well deserved by Beshitsda

I became suspicious of them when they keep repurposing an "antique" game engine that is broken and just left the players to fix it...

@lyannasnark101

Imagine thinking daddy Microsoft is going to take your favorite franchise and not destroy it from the ground up, then sell off whatever husk of a company is left to the highest bidder... its about the same level of blind fath needed to think that starfield is going to be good even tho for 10+ years all beth did was remaster skyrim.... its time to move on, i wish every dragon age game had the level of design origins had but no matter how much I want dragon age 2 to not be the beginning of the end for bioware it was and is... I have to come to peace with that and with the fact that the eldar scrolls I playied isnt the eldar scrolls we are going to receive

@Duransurik

I'm worried we will be seeing the same story play out for rockstar.

@AIMakerJonas
@

Sorry but obsidian did Fallout New Vegas 120x better than Bethesda ever did and Obsidian had an extreme time crunch on that game. Sure they used a lot of assets Bethesda made but I can’t it’s just embarrassing to compare New Vegas to 3 and 4.

Worst ran studio you say... Bungie "hold my beer"

@Diabeat_u

I haven't played a Bethesda game in years and don't intend considering Bethesda's only there to screw over their playerbase and take their money for it, they're one of the most scummy and cowardly companies in the world

@coreymitchell3058

Bungie had a free ride and it finally culminated in them faltering. Bungie was too big to fail. Yet here they are. And I feel Bethesda is in a similar sinking boat, but is more arrogant about it.
