If you walk from Union Square to the China Town gate and walk up the hill through China Town you will eventually start downhill and end up in North Beach, the Italian district. That first intersection on Broadway is a five cornered intersection. Across the street is the oldest bar in San Francisco, called the Saloon. It is a small dive bar and has live music nightly. The bar predates the San Francisco earthquake and fire in 1906.

Having been to San Francisco so many times between 1980-2008, you mentioned many things that are a must see. My actual favorite is Point Bonita Lighthouse, which you didn’t mention, that is in the Golden Gate Recreation area, still accessible but limited these days from when I first went.

The fentanyl drug crisis, particularly in the Tenderloin and SoMa districts, has driven OVERDOSE deaths, with around 800 recorded just in 2023. Drug cartels from Sinaloa and Jalisco supply the deadly drugs, and enforcement struggles to stop the flow!
SF residents report feeling unsafe due to visible drug use and encampments, contributing to the exodus. Absolutely not recommended to move into a drug and homeless infested town like this. Not any longer. People can't be naive and believe this zombie-city is safe and beautiful. It was probably years and years ago, maybe when Janis Joplin was still alive. But not any more, it's over. What a huge loss for the country.

@MohamedlamineDramé-c7tWas in SF back in 2013 when the America's Cup yacht race was going on. Been to many of the places you showed here. Didn't see Japan Town mentioned. Not nearly as big as China Town, but it was fun to hang around in for a day.

@russellb4510Thanks, you did great a job, of showing so many parts of this Beautiful Northern Californian city. There so much to see, hè BARTi s great and MUNI also , the street and cable cars. I never found "the homeless to be trouble" I used 3 to live about a 3 hr. drive North 25 yrs. ago ,and enjoyed many trips. I would it's expensive but so much Entertaiment. The food is great, I had a huge Burrito, and some Pizza, Chinese, and seafood. the architecture.

You'll see neighborhoods and priceless views the tourists never see. It's the best kind of guidebook a city could have.

@ownSystemSF used to be a fabulous place to go to all the time. Since 2018 it’s turned into an unsafe $hithole. Save your money and go somewhere else. You won’t regret it.
