Belmont Stakes hard-core handicappers

Video Overview & Insights

Deep analysis of every horse in Belmont Stakes 2026 is ready to hear now from the hard-core handicappers in their latest pop-up episode of the Ron Flatter Racing Pod.

Chief Wallabee is a Wet-Dud
Firecracker of a racehorse.
Chief Wallabee's a Big Coward
A Big Wimp.
He looks good working out in the morning on the track.

Emerging Market the Chad Brown
Wonderbread Horse, the Supposed to be Superstar Racehorse,
What a joke this weak Bastard Turned out to be .
Chief Wallabee at 3-1 and Emerging Market at 9-2 in the Belmont stakes & both of them
Tucked Their Tails in and quit in the Home stretch 😂😂😂
Like the Cowards they truly are

— @kevinjeffries5232

Horse Racing Nation handicappers Mark Midland and Ed DeRosa are joined by FanDuel TV’s Caton Bredar. They go through the entire field, 1 through 9, including morning-line favorite Renegade and Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo.

How will they play the five horses coming out of the Derby and into this last 1 1/4-mile running of the Belmont at Saratoga? How do they see what looms as an iffy pace picture? Most important, what are their opinions about the pretenders amid the contenders? Where is the value? How will the horses take to the track at Saratoga? The panel answers all those questions.

Watching this early am after the Belmont. Wow, how did you all get it so wrong? Golden Tempo beat them all, pulling away at the end. He looked great before the Derby and he looked great the whole week before the Belmont. Relaxed and confident. Ears pricked. Some of the other horses looked awful in the Belmont paddock, kind of listless. Emerging Market looked rather haggard. Again. Chief Wallabee looked depressed in the paddock. He looked okay during his Belmont week workouts, but he looked down in the dumps before the Belmont.

There also is a bonus discussion about the best plays on the Saturday undercard at Saratoga.

The audio version of the Ron Flatter Racing Pod via Horse Racing Nation is available via free subscription from Apple, Firefox, iHeart and Spotify as well as HorseRacingNation.com.

Maybe 3 New Faces Next Year. But I doubt it.

Analysts try to guess at closing odds so often and often are so far off! Emerging Market to be Double or Triple the Odds of Golden Tempo? Wow! Then Tempo runs great and Market still Running. That a Problem with thrse Podcasts. Nobody really knows the closing odds so how can we be sure if the horses selected are really the analysts picks? Useless to try to assume the odds.

great to hear your picks but it was crazy for everyone to throw out the KY derby winner. the 10 cent super was 23 bucks and the 50 cent tri was 51 bucks, exacta was 55 bucks. all payoffs kinda chalky. I didnt want to see the golden tempo win but theidea of throwing out the derby winner of exotics after hes ran some good races. You treated golden tempo like mine that bird, sarava or rich strike. golden tempo is a far superior horse to any of those. he deserved to be in all exotics, obviously he was with the small payouts.

Just remember people.... None of these people have actually any idea who's going to win this race.

The Chief will not be 3-1. Will have better odds. I’m hoping 4-1.

Lot of great analysis here but the takeaway is who Vatruvian Man was! I can win some friendly weird quiz challenges.

Very weak crop of 3 year olds (and I’ve seen a lot)

I don’t like Commandment because he has short legs.

Ed is basing his pick to bet against the favorite. If you follow, good luck with that.

"I hope you four do better this time." Rough first two legs.

I look at form progression/regression, I look at late pace, speed, figures, but most importantly, I want to see how that horse is handling the track. In any race, that’s the most important thing. How does the horse handle the track? What is he looking like? He can’t really tell until race date. What a horse is going to do but when you see them come onto the track, my eyes don’t lie to me most of the time. The last bets I usually place are in the post parade. And I wish that they would give us a better look at the horses longer just before the post parade and in the post parade. I got the Preakness and the Derby the same way because when those horses come onto the track, you just know. I can’t tell you any more than that. If you have a good eye, you just know, but you never know until the post parade and unfortunately they never spend enough time on that.

These pros handicappers like to steer the public towards the horses they are not betting they want there pick at long odds like golden tempo nobody pick him in the Derby,just like Rich strike, who broke his maiden at Churchill .the only horse in that field who had raced and won previously..

I don’t bet a lot of money but will probably have most of it riding on Renegade.

@James-e3m4x
@

Of course it’s horse racing Renegade could come in last but it’s very doubtful,all the negativity about him probably true but I’d be shocked if he didn’t show up at least second or show .

@James-e3m4x

Holy I've never seen a horse have the excuses the Chief does.

@kelticdevil14

Renegade is the class of the field. Any horse that can overcome the trouble that Renegade had and still run a derby winning type of race has Class. I've always thought the pace is over rated in a G1 race. Class wins G1 races.

@byronmarshall3924
@

I think Renegade will be in the money probably first or second,with Irad in the saddle who knows him well he beat 17 horses in the derby he’s not going to let a horse sneak up on him again

@James-e3m4x

Didn't Emerging Market throw a shoe in the Derby?

@OaktownABQ
@

Massavive story line 95 beyer is awful for a derby. Good comparison to sov . Even Sierra leone couldn't win at Saratoga in three trips on a speed faving track. No pace to run into . HE IS A TOSS FORGET THE FEEL GOOD STORY!!!

Always Great stuff this group. If most agree this isn't the most stellar or 3 yr olds in a while and this the last year this race is run at Saratoga at 1.25 miles....I'm surprised some aren't willing to take a stab at some BOMBS...at least play a .50 cent Tri Key - which as you know, can cover a lot of horses. Screw it, it's the Belmont and weird stuff can happen. I'm keying the 1 & 5 and maybe even the #2 in .50 cent Tri Keys. Cause it makes no sense...just like people told me I was crazy playing Dornoch 2 yrs ago. If Dangerous Doug's horse somehow wins and you have the 2, 5, or 6 coming in at least one of the spots in 2nd or 3rd....that's going to pay decent. BUT - my Main Key to win is the #7 - didn't play him at all in the Derby, but history shows horses who have had bad trips in the Derby, have won this race - Dornoch and SO many others in the past.

Nobody knows days before the race which horses will be Overbet. I hear that so often where cappers figure estimated odds and they are not even close. Of course Golden Tempo will be a fan favorite but not enough to offset the takeout and CAW Rebates. If you are not a CAW Bettor you are basically a Degenerate just Giving Your Money to the Track and State!

@frontier1776

I’ve been trying to teach you guys, stop worrying about the odds. Try to figure out who’s gonna win the race. The horse doesn’t know what his odds are 2 to 150 to 1 2001 it don’t matter pick the winner.

I've been handicapping for 55 years. My daughter and I boxed 5 horses in all the Preakness exotics. They ran 1-2-3-4-5. we hit everything. Belmont picks:
7 Commandment
4 Renegade
3 Chief Wallabee
9) Golden Tempo
8) Emerging Market

we are boxing all 5 here again but also betting straight wheels

7-4-all in the triple
4-7-all in the triple

7-4-3-all in super
4-7-3-all in super
7-4-9-all in super
4-7-9-all in super

may the horse be with you

@frankfedi5751
@

lol..Theese guys gotta get real..Renegade gonna crush them. The 2 is in there for a pace. Probably could b 4-7 and 9
