Basics of Investing for Beginners and Gamers

Video Overview & Insights

Here we go. Today we discuss the basics of investing, some math and principles and strategy, as well as how to open an account and buy stocks. This is a lot of info and there’s so much to talk about, I did my best to describe accurately, using math and history. I’ve used this strategy to create a small level of financial freedom for myself.

I know it's a long video, but I tried my best to bring as much info as possible. Please let me know if anything is inaccurate or misleading. Good luck, start young, stay disciplined, and do your own research!

0:00 Intro - Broke Americans Detected - Initiate Investment Protocol

“ I lived with my parents” I can’t do that and I can’t live with room mates. My parents live in a retirement area. No money. Being in construction I started up there a “good” wage is $18 an hour. But it doesn’t get you anywhere other than stuck living with them. I make $40/hr now doing construction and it seems like it still doesn’t get you far but at least I can scrape by living by myself.

9:57 Key Mindset and Principles

The most useless information ever.
There is no investment that can beat the inflation rate of dying debt society.
In 2020 the prices increased by 20%
The inflation rate from 2021 to 2025 was a media of 6%.
There is no investment that gives you 10% a year.
If you are lucky you get 7% a year,
Which mean if you invested 100k in 2020, you are today down 3% by doing 7% on your investment.
Oh, and you don't know the best part, every 4 years, since the debt is so big, they will print trillions, which mean, you need to make even more % gain to keep up with inflation, if you do only 7% (yea only), you will be down just by inflation rate, yea your money is rotting by inflation, there is no amount of energy you can put to beat inflation.
By the time you become a millionaire, you will need 1000$ for a frappucino.

Hey mrlearn, idk if you will read it or if any viewer reads it and have any advice related to it. Feel free to share!

I'm from Pakistan, you have recently inspired me to invest rather than trading my lucks in forex and crypto and I would rather go for long terms pros.

I just want to know if I should rather purchase local stocks for long terms or should prefer international stocks.

I did some research and some stock companies pay dividends quarterly i.e every 3 months of 4-8%.

I don't mind long terms investments but just want an advice if there are any better opportunities!

If you are young and just starting don't listen this guy his advice would be solid up until 2015 but not anymore you dont have a decade left to invest and get rich.

you have exactly 4 and a half years invest aggressively dont ever buy stocks only things you can hold and see dont care If Its gold, silver, copper, underpriced land, guns just stack them to mount olympus.
Normally Its said that less than 25% of your wage should be invested per month scratch that make that 50% or more live in your parents house or trailerpark.

Thank you for the great informational video. I’m 18 going into my freshman year of college and I want to start investing as early as possible. I can invest $400 a month but I just don’t know how too or even where to start and what to buy. If you could make a deep guide to investing for beginners that would be amazing.

It’s funny how you find the right advice when you need it most. For me, it was Caren Janelle Jacobs. I came across her work online and it really resonated with me.

I am 21, from South Africa, and this is going to be about my 6th time starting my account fresh after experiencing the many mentioned mistakes from betting on earnings calls and just watching my account grow smaller and smaller, to gambling on day-to-day news articles, videos, and sometimes tweets. Although you may hit blackjack every now and again, it is seldom worth continuing as impulse and anxiety only increase, leading to poor choices and self-loathing. I watched so many videos prior to these experiences, about long-term conservative investing (e.g. S&P500 and index funds), etc., and always told myself that I had the discipline, but that obviously wasn't what happened. Although I have heard everything in this video countless times, the way you phrased things really put it into perspective. I have devised a plan, and plan to stick to it. Thank you, YT, for recommending this, and thank you, WhyLearn, for the wake-up call. Best wishes to all current and future investors.

Unfortunately ive only just started investing at 28. Luckily my accommodation is dirt cheap so i can put away 1500 a month. So hopefully that will help me catch up on ~10 years of lost income from investing

@santino4561
@

From 1965 to 1982, prices rose 200% and the S&P500 fell 50%. If you held bonds or the S&P500 during that time, you would have been totally wiped out.

I cannot stress this enough: You cannot rely on consistent returns from the stock market and bonds. You must learn about macro super cycles to understand what’s coming next. Do not drive your car using the rear view mirror to see what’s in front of you.

Yo this is one of the best beginner guides to investing. Really glad I found your channel because I resonate with you being a Software Engineer myself. Except I'm in some corporate BS where my managers aren't seeing my hard work and it's impossible to get a good performance review and promotions. Thinking about brushing up my interview & interview coding skills and looking for another SE job with slightly higher pay.

Hey I just wanted to say thank you, I have been binging content like this for the past week and your break down made so much click for me. I could honestly listen to you explain this stuff in detail if you made the videos like you were saying at the end. I for one would watch the crap out of that.

Coming from a 27 year old dude that is just getting started, (nobody taught me this stuff) thank you. I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with my friends and family to help them get up in life too. Also just so you know I went back and took notes and pictures of what you said too. The break downs are just what I needed!
