I would like to add that the scene at the table is supposed to be representative of how Clark is literally surviving solely off of his memories of the past. Both of these people are “time travelers” in a sense.

Some parts of this were really creative. The writing seems a little half-baked though, ala JJ Abrams. I dont like the whole past psych issue that imposes itself on your current situation. Its been done to death....Event Horizon anyone? The "you can eat them" was great. But there doesnt seem to be much more explanation of them.

Clark is awfully young to have off'ed his wife and served his time in jail. Was he deemed incompetent to stand trial, have therapy and released to own a store? Or did he get away with a rage induced, possibly alcohol induced crime and just move on with life? None of these scenarios make sense unless there is a time travel element to the story.

0:00 Intro - What is the movie BACKROOMS (2026) about?

I love/hated this movie. The interesting symbolism tickles my brain, but the glacial pacing and lack of much actual story was rough. Also, this is supposed to be about trauma, but typical failed career and marriage issues don't seem nearly enough to warrant being central to a 'horror' movie. Clarke's rage feel more like his substantial annoyance. Is this what trauma and rage look like in 2026?? Yawn.

1:40 An Important Message

It's funny. I went with my daughter. She was raving about how it was so great, the best film ever. I was bored off my ass, trying not to fall asleep.

26:00 BACKROOMS ENDING EXPLAINED

26:30 What is BACKROOMS really about?

Most people who didn’t like the backrooms movie just never watched any of Kane pixels’ series on YouTube and all they know is from TikTok and roblox games which are completely unconnected to the film, regardless of quality

— @ANormalBlockOfTNT

29:00 Why does the BACKROOMS make things wrong?

31:00 Our Memories are UNRELIABLE

I rarely see horror movies, it’s a difficult experience for me. This one was very much worth the discomfort. I also had a visceral reaction to the “heights” scene, I was squirming in my seat over that whole section of the movie.

— @Crows_before_bros

31:38 Who made the first BACKROOMS? Who is PHIL?

32:57 What happens to Mary? Does she live?

I hated it.
I love the backrooms. All the games and videos are amazing.
But this interpretation was absolute trash.
People cannot clip back and forth from the backrooms.

I wanted the eerie feeling. The scared lost feeling. The no way out.
The suspense of it.
Or even the exploration of it.
The actual backrooms exploration was not the movie.
My kids liked the odd interpretation however.

I think this may have been good had I not had a deep love for the original backrooms.
I was not expecting this odd interpretation.

And I happen to love psychological horrors. I love more suspenseful horror. I love more hidden scary types of tension.

I hate normal scary movies. They stink, so this is not why I hated it.
I happen to take a different view, the horror was very...typical as far as too much monster. True some backrooms have monsters but not this weird type..

There simply was not enough
anticipation, buildup, and suspense.
I was looking for suspense.

34:10 PIRATE CLARK EXPLAINED (Why did he eat him?)

37:40 Backrooms Theory: DID CLARK MURDER HIS WIFE?

The time travel idea is interesting, one of the things I noticed was that in the found-footage style first scene, the hazmat guy we're seeing the POV from passes by a banner that says "NO CREDIT N-", which is a clipped version of Clark's catchphrase for the store "No Credit, No Problem". I thought it was weird that that existed prior to Clark entering the Backrooms, and maybe the time travel idea supports this

42:00 My review of BACKROOMS

43:00 Why are people hating the BACKROOMS movie?

I can explain Backrooms in 1 sentence: Backrooms is nobody's reality, it is the doctor's mind.

Kane pixels himself said async isn't evil. If anything they will keep her there to keep her from letting the secret out but they wouldn't kill her.

@MySOAP12

The fact the movie doesn't have any sudden jump scares made me enjoy the movie even more

@MySOAP12

This is an amalgam of Robert Matheson's Little Girl Lost + Jeff VanderMeer's Annihilation with bits of other short stories, movies and TV shows like Scanners, The X Files, the Canadian movie Paper House, John Erick Dowdle's As Above, So Below, time dislocation from James Ward Byrkit's Coherence + many, many others. The funny thing is, he copied people who copied these earlier sources so he doesn't even realize who he's copying. This is 'originality' in the digital age, when knowlage is as as deep as a tweet.

My mantra: I'm not saying if you don't like Backrooms it means you're a dummy. But, I dont recommend Backrooms IF you're a dummy lol.
I fucking LOVE this movie and haven't stopped thinking about it since. Long live Kane.

@melissaann7172

The reason people call backrooms boring is because they have the attention span of a literal 3 y/o 🫩✌️

@urmom100yago3
@

I remember there was the theory that time travel is connected to the heights in the backrooms. so if you change your level even by a fee inch you move through time

@clippy_0815
@

My theory is that pirate clark is actually a partygoer. Partygoers transform humans to themselves. Pirate Clark is similar to the dolls. So the dolls are made into the same entity as pirate clark.

I think the images And scenes of Phil, the inventor, are just different lighting and angles. We all know the magic angles can do 😹. Also to the ones hating on the movie, you never deserved the chance to watch it in the first place! This is for true horror fanatics. How can you watch this and not be terrified? Such good quality and so realistic, that that's where the hate comes from. BECAUSE ITS REALISTIC! Others are just closed minded with an immature mindset. If you want jump scare watch the insideious/conjuring/Annabelle movies. If you want gore and torture, watch a Rob Zombie movie. Kane nailed this! Nothing else like it!. If you don't appreciate this film then you never deserved the chance to watch it!

man, I loved this movie. dope video!

@christhewiz420
@

But pirate clark had already killed (and maybe ate) bobby before we saw clark eating at the dinner table scene, if we continue your theory that pirate clarks actions resembles clark, that just means he broke into his ex wife's home, did the dirty and possibly already committed cannibalism before ever discovering the backrooms (only true if he ate bobby after killing him but we never saw that

@druhgggggg

This sounds like a stupid movie. I will definitely be watching.

I think what may divide people about this movie isn’t a difference in understanding…but perhaps appreciation for the “liminal space” genre. I went to watch it by myself in theaters (thankfully it was packed lol) and I was so relaxed at some of the slower parts that it scared me more feeling like I was also in that dreamy state…Solid, solid movie 12/10.

I was really hoping that Mary would escape.. it's just a personal preference, but I really don't like it when movies have people who work their ass off to survive, just to be captured by the shitty ass corporation™ that just so happen to find the survivor valuable and exploit them for the rest of their life.
