good luck getting car insurance. You can get it, but can you afford it? Make sure you have uninsured motortist because guaranteed if you get hit, it will be by 1. someone without insurance, 2. someone that runs due to warrants or illegality. Property insurance is also high and getting higher. Property taxes are an issue and the fact that they continue to go up each year makes sure your mortgage will never bee the same from month to month. Utilities.....OMG!!!!! a slight wind will take out the electricity. If you have any kind of significant weather you could and probably will be without electricity for weeks. No kidding. You shouldn't have to buy a house with a generator included but here you do. Utilities are not guaranteed and when they flux on and off, then off, then come on and now your furnace mother board is blown, your modem is blown your garage door opener is blown, you AC is blown., that's on YOU not the utility company. It is blazing hot, so hot you have to fun the AC 24/7. If you don't and put up with the heat, everything will rot. All your food commodities will rot in a day or so. Traffic is real. And there's no law against cell phone use. So eveyrone is on their phones and no ne moves when the light turns greenn because they are all on their ph0nes. Plus Texans drive to their own tune, since there is little to no policing they use the curb, they run red lights, they cross in frnt of you, no blinkers. Driving here is the wild wild west. I have gone through an entire set of new tires living here 4 years. Just can't keep them inflated. Nails and pot holes. I have lived in at least 14 differeent states in this nation. There is nothing like TExas and I'm sure you have to be born here to appreciate it. Because it's crazy. It's crazy expensive with a lot of hidden costs. Weather is unforgivable.

This was a great video! I been living in Houston for 4 years and I was shocked by most of these. I do not mind the heat but it gets very humid. Stealing tires is real. I have seen tires left on blocks. Even in “good” neighborhoods.

— @Nnena_Ngozi

01:09 1. houston is not walkable

01:54 2. lack of public transporation options

it’s 2026 now— everything in this video is 100% truth! and in many ways it’s worse now! It’s hard to decide which of these is the worst, but i will say having to drive 45 minutes one way to go to see a friend— in rough traffic over potholes while it’s 1000 degrees and 1000 per cent humidity— this really sucks. you end up having to g long distance friends even though you live in the same city. it. is. awful.

— @marybeth9397

04:19 3. car theft and break-ins

05:31 4. no scenery

I needed this video. I live in south florida but we been thinking about moving to Houston to be closer to in-laws. I just can’t see myself living there…. There’s no trees!!

— @ELCifi

07:45 6. hurricanes and power outages

09:30 7. potholes and bumpy roads

PLEASE TELL PEOPLE TO STOP MOVING HERE TOO CROWDED HERE I WANT MY CITY BACK

— @htownfinest7365

10:25 8. expensive property taxes

11:03 9. extremely hot

I believe Houston has the most trees than any other major city. If not, it's up there. Maybe I'm wrong, I heard this like 10yrs ago

— @patrickbrewer8189

12:19 10. no zoning

13:20 outro

So we have to ask Mexicans to start planting trees in Houston to get more shade in the summer.

Worst 28 years of my life spent in Houston. 5 to 6 months of summer weather. Traffic 24/7. Most known for strip clubs. We had 3 cars stolen. Never again.

Go back to Florida. October is warm for us. You have crime in Florida, car theft, etc. Thousands of people move to our city DAILY. We are an inviting people, though we never invited you. When others move here we never gave anyone reasons to move here, but ya came. You are from Florida, I am a realtor and an insurance adjuster...Florida is sinking and the cost of living is very high and there is a major exodus. We Houstonians get along with everyone, if you are feeling uncomfortable, please go back or get to a place/space where you feel better. Crime? Dude, you are in AMERICA! We have always been a city that thrives of people from all over the world and many have loved it over the years. The more people - the greater the crime. We are the 3rd largest city in the United States coupled with a large land mass. Chicago is loosing their top 10% as we are gain. During the sub-prime crisis Houston was the Only city in the entire country continuing to thrive building major infrastructures. If you are not part of a solution....well, nvm. Study Texas - Study Houston. Our industries: Import/Export, Medical #1 in the country, Oil/Energy which feeds the medical industry. As of late, Houston is building a top tech industry. We are a Friendly people. The amount of well educated black and brown people is huge due to the amount of competitive colleges and universities. Houston holds more Africans than any other city in the US. This is our home.

I can do 10!
I hate it here!

1. No fitness culture-at all
2. Food is BAD. BBQ is awesome. How often am I going to eat it???
3. People are weird-Houstonians are awkward and WEIRD in basic interaction.
4. Worst vehicle operating in the country- I blame the exits you mentioned.
5. BoringAF. News flash, the rodeo is overpriced and lame. These people LOVE IT 😅😂😅
6. Brag about your diversity while being RACISTAF.
7. No art scene or creative pursuits...you can hurt yourself to look and find something mediocre.
8. Ridiculous "Texas #1" mentality is annoying. People that live in cool places don't have to remind you all day LOL.
9. Government screws the people and doesn't want to fund schools or public works...pot hole repair for example.
10. Cant get a contractor worth a sh*t. Good luck finding a pool man.

DOWNTOWN IS SOOOOO DEAD. Austin is cool and Dallas looks fun.
Your points are super lagit. Nice list.

I miss LA.

You can sell my house 😅😂😅😂

Public transportation is great. You obviously don't know what you are talking about. If you live in the city. You are good. If you are in the suburbs it may be a little challenging, but it is manageable. There are people who live here who don't own a car. Do your research.

The trees in the southeast is so beautiful and lush. I lived in California and Texas and I got home sick because I messed seeing all the lush Trees everywhere. Coming from Georgia we have a abundance of trees 😅

The main reason for the adult entertainment clubs near a residential area. Is because at the time a lot of those adult entertainment places were built in the areas of Houston, where there was no development. It goes back way beyond the 2000’s some of these places were built in early 1990’s.

I am not from Houston, and I have lived all over the U.S. I moved to Houston 6 years ago, and I have lived near downtown as well as in the suburbs. There are some things I like about it, especially lower home prices compared with big coastal cities, and the diversity and food options. However, there are three things I absolutely HATE about living here:

1) Horrible weather--blazing heat and sticky humidity from May through September, heavy rain and major flooding problems. Did I mention the mosquitoes?

2) Horrible infrastructure--slow and inaccessible public transit, busted up streets and sidewalks, not at all walkable, and for the most part not bikeable aside from the bayous and a few bike lanes that don't even connect, plus a power grid that keeps crashing every time there is a major storm or even a little bit of snow. It is a joke to be without electricity in a city that calls itself the energy capital of the U.S., but that has happened to me more than 3 times since I moved here.

3) Horrible political leadership--we are governed by reactionaries who are deeply hostile to progressive ideas of any kind. While this is particularly true of our state government, our local government under the current mayor honestly isn't much better.

While there are many wonderful people here in Houston and the state of Texas in general, after six years here I am absolutely sick of the weather, the infrastructure and the right-wing politics. I was much happier in other cities I've lived in, and I can't wait to get out.

If you don't like the heat, WTF did you move here for 😅. Sensationalism at it's finest, and I will be glad when all y'all whining and complaining babies get outta' here so things can get back to normal.

As someone who helps families and investors relocate to Houston, I can confirm these are real things to consider. But if you're prepared, Houston’s growth, affordability, and opportunity often outweigh the downsides.

1. Houston isn't walkable but id honestly say no US city truly is unless you live in tge tourist part of NY and Chicago. If you live in Midtown, Downtown, Heights, Medical Center, Rice Village, 3rd Ward..then it's pretty walkable in those areas.
