Arcane after the hype is WAY Worse Than You Think
Video Overview & Insights
Its bad. Really bad.
people say it's a pacing problem. but it's not. it is a writing direction problem. they chose to focus on every other wrong things and create new unrelated problems, and ignore things that have been established in season 1 which now needs some resolutions. they are heading to a completely different goal from the 1st season, and no amount of editing can fix that.
I decided to take another look at Arcane season 2. Even though arcane season 1 is a masterpiece, I cannot say the same for season 2. When I first watched season 2, I thought it was simply ‘good’. However, after re-analysing it, there is so much wrong with it. Arcane season 2 sucks. And I don’t care for any type of league of legends multiverse or cinematic universe when they have ruined the characters in this show.

If anyone actually payed attention, the issues where already there in season one. Why did Jinx suddenly become evil? She literally hugged the guy that is responsible for her family being in the situation that she accidentally killed them in the first place. She became bad over a single slap???? If anything she should be extremely guilty for what she did. Even if she becomes evil why would she join Silco of all people. And then the show gaslit y'all into thinking Vi is on this redemption arc because she uh, slapped her sister??? Vi did nothing wrong. Her sister disobeyed her and ended up killing everyone. Why did the show pretend and make it seem like Vi needed to redeem herself or something? The music video "Enemy" did a better job at story telling than the actual show. Showing Vi being abusive to her sister. This would have been much better if the show had gone this route. It would have strengthened the plot and would have made Vi's redemption and Powder's descent in villainhood and the need for Vi to save her more impactful. But Vi was actually a very supportive sister to Powder throughout the beginning of the show.
Then we have Caitlins cool plot of uncovering the conspiracy in piltover and theeen she becomes a love interest to Vi and her story became a subplot to Vi's needing to reconcile with her bratty sister story urghhh🙄
0:00- Intro
0:58- Point 1, Side characters
3:26 she is being idolised because people "idolise" her in real life. Sacrificing the plot for fan service. I honestly DO NOT like Jinx AT ALL
2:19- Point 2, Gang warfare
2;50-Point 3, Caitlyn’s dictatorship
So much of the characterization of characters is completely ripped off from marvel and dc comics
3:23- Point 4, Jinx idolised??
4:27- Point 5, Public dumb meeting
i agree. s2 was so goddamn horrible.
it genuinely felt like infinite stacking of unresolved plots. completely disregarding what s1 spent the entire season and finale setting up for season 2. introducing new characters just to make them basically irrelevant, but forcing them in anyways, then giving them plot armor instead of a cool scene where they die and actually fuel the main characters or plot in some meaningful way. like genuinely, just do something with them. there were so many side-plots that either got cut off prematurely, rushed through, or left unresolved. contradictions, illogical decisions, stupid levels of plot armor, characters getting dumber, and a forced plot/narrative with 0 regard for actual base human intellect and common sense.
i hate how they handled the underground council / chem-baron side of zaun. they were very present as entities in s1, not really characters yet, which was fine because season 1 was setting the board. then in season 2, instead of giving them actual depth and exploring these people who have been around for a long time, they just get executed one by one. no meaningful politics, no actual power struggle with depth, no payoff. just “look, these figures exist” then “okay, now they’re dead.”
season 1 was more grounded because everything was working towards the same plot goal. even when characters were on different paths, those paths were inevitably going to cross. everything had pressure, direction, consequence. in season 2, all the characters are scattered, the story is in shambles, and the new characters take screen-time just to end up being irrelevant. the main characters that were actually important in season 1 get sidelined or practically replaced by new meaningless characters who barely earn their place in the story.
like wtf was season 2 even about really? season 1 ends with the stalemate breaking, the council attack, piltover and zaun being pushed into an unavoidable conflict, and mel’s mother being introduced as a major new threat. caitlyn was clearly meant to have her role elevated after everything that happened, but then she still spends so much of the season just walking around solo or being used weirdly by the plot. realistically speaking, if any kind of leader figure is roaming contested areas like that, they’re getting immediately taken out, kidnapped, used as leverage, or surrounded by security. the show just bends around her because the plot needs her there.
viktor and jayce were also handled so badly. viktor evolves and tries to create a utopia, but we’re shown that it becomes poison in the future / alternate reality. jayce also pursued quality of life for human beings through tech, so they’re both chasing the same core goal, just through different paths. one of them has proof that the “solution” becomes poison, but the reasoning ends up feeling like “you’re bad, you die” “no i’m good, we fight now” and then they both just disappear/die together. like what? viktor should definitely have survived in some form, and jayce should have survived too. they’re the exact kind of characters who should reappear later or at least have their names mentioned during other league of legends shows. that would actually show continuity and make the world feel like every story affects the others. instead, every major figure either dies, disappears, or gets removed from relevance despite being massive names in their own country/kingdom, with huge achievements and reputations.
that’s one of the biggest problems. season 1 made the world feel connected and alive. season 2 makes it feel like pieces are being thrown away so the writers can move on to the next thing.
it genuinely felt like s1’s team got thanos snapped and replaced with people who skimmed through season 1 and just did whatever they wanted. such a disappointment. why does everything good have to get destroyed? this is why nothing good ever lasts. whether it was investors, executives, rushed planning, writers overestimating themselves, or just terrible structural decisions, the result is the same: the audience gets treated like a wallet, not like people who invested in a story. let the people who actually know how to build the thing they’re making, build it properly. season 1 took years to craft into what it was, and season 2 feels like they forgot the entire structure, patience, and discipline that made season 1 work.
and honestly, how do you spend that many years making something as good as season 1, then let the ending get rushed like this? how do the artists, writers, directors, or whoever was involved not fight harder for the story they spent so long building? maybe they did and got overruled, who knows. but from the outside, it feels pathetic to watch something with that much potential get compressed, scattered, and thrown away.
i’m dead set on the idea that some corporate-level decision-making had a massive impact here. whether it was investors, executives, producers, or whoever, it feels like someone looked at arcane’s success and went “okay, now turn this into a larger league universe as fast as possible” instead of letting this specific story breathe and finish properly. they saw profit, saw that people loved it, assumed it could be mass-produced across multiple different stories, and probably pushed for “just end it with season 2 and move on.”
either way, i completely agree with everything said in this video. can’t wait for the next project to pop off, then have its ending rushed too for no actual valid reason.
5:04- Point 6, Silco forgotten
6:09- Point 7, Caitlyn where’s Jayce?
the gang warfare point doesn't make sense at all, they were infighting because they no longer had a leader. Silco died as well in that capitol attack, and they were struggling for control over the lanes until savika brought everything into perspective.
7:06- Point 8, Heimerdinger done dirty
7:30- Point 9, Doctor’s intentions??
season two destroyed much of the promise and greatness of season one. It is a shame.
8:05- Point 10, Ambessa vs Warwick…
8:36- Point 11, Zaun accepts Vi, why?
8:54- Point 12, Ekko & Vi, bye bye
9:39- Point 13, Who are the Black rose?
Idolizing Jinx is not weird to me.
It's a mater of Princip.
10:17- Point 14, Salo, Hello?
10:23-Point 15, Vander is ruined
Thank you. You literally summed up everything I felt while watching the second season. I felt crazy when I saw so much positive feedback online.
11:14- Point 16, Isha…
12:12- Point 17, Jinx and Isha
season 2 was shit
13:03- Point 18, Smeech knew the truth
13:16- Point 19, Jinx vs Vi
Woke slop with good animation
14:16- Point 20, Vi and Jinx
15:48- Point 21, Isha’s death
me when everything isnt told to me directly and the fiction has people acting erratically like humans.
18:48- Point 22, Episode 7 is disgusting…
20:01- Point 23, How does jayce survive?
s1 was cool s2 is eh i dont like that ww or plot with victor
20:35- Point 24, Episode 7 part 2…
22:23- Point 25, Vi doing Caitlyn is weird
It's so hard cause the second season looks gorgeous and everyone was so excited about it.... but I agree that it's kinda meh
22:54- Point 26, Ekko & Vander
23:11- Point 27, Vi is stupid
It's not as bad as you described it. Certainly is worse than season one and it's because story narrative changed in season 2. Writers gone completely to another story. It's like season 1 happens then we fast forward to paralog so yeah it wasn't good and it wasn't in the right direction but bruh it's not DISGUSTING, they just lost the main plot and I think it's because they didn't have enough time and budget to make a season 3 so writers couldn't add all of their ideas in the show but instead of removing unnecessary ideas and stick to the main story they decided to tuck their ideas in anyway.
24:03- Conclusion
24:49- Outro
I'm sure this guy would have an aneurysm trying to dissect The Boys season 5 if he watched said show, LMAO. Arcane S2 was an absolute timeless masterpiece by comparison.😆
#arcane #arcaneseason2 #jinx #leagueoflegends
My biggest problem is the "inventor" trope being so dumb. It's like hackers in Hollywood movies. Somehow Jayce the inventor of Hextech is just a superhero? Heimerdinger is a musician?
Viktor is literally the person who manages to stabilize Hextech through metal runes yet he can't make himself a metal armor with the runes you know... like his original lore? Piltover and Zaun as regions seem massively disrespected by the second season. Went from the two cities we know to scenarios were weird shit happens no thought behind it
More User Perspectives
as a fan of both lol & star wars arcane s2 had a prequel problem basically
@lubbaby2083:40 Because it's too obvious why they love her, Jinx has become a symbol of resistance. Because Zaun spent years hating a city that grew rich at their expense, and no one dared challenge Piltover's authorities until she did. It's true that she put them in a dangerous situation, but for them, violence is normal because it happened before, and the peace that followed was false.
5:40 Okay, but stop and think about this:
If you were a citizen of Zaun who resents Piltover, and you adore Jinx, but then the damned daughter of the police chief who oppressed your city for so many years comes along and says that the adopted daughter killed Silco after years of being his best ally... Would you believe her? Would you believe someone who clearly wants you to live under her regime to say something as crazy as that?
7:56 You'll see the original purpose, if that was indeed it, only everything took a turn when Warwick came face to face with Powder.
And when Warwick said "POWDEE," Jinx knew without a doubt that it was Vander, or at least felt that it was him. So he decided to hide Vander in an area with difficult navigation, like those mines, and sought to bring his sister back to see her adoptive father.
It's true that everything happens off-screen, but it's not far-fetched that this is what happened.
And as for Singued, well, what we already saw happened: he was still captured, but his strong intellectual collaboration with Noxus helped him evade the Piltover prison walls.
11:14 Vander wasn't a father from the beginning, but he was a father when Vi was a preteen and Powder was a child; it makes sense that he appears in her memories.
12:10 Isha's background is very simple: she's a girl who grew up in the suburbs and survived by stealing from people. These men were after her because she had stolen from them before, and they were tired of her.
Jinx takes care of her because she sees herself reflected in her as that little girl who was left alone but was taken in by someone.
Basically, she's a Powder 2.0, but without the darkness in her heart. Their relationship was based on Jinx loving her because hugging her is like hugging that Powder before she became Jinx, and perhaps she could become Powder again.
I disagree with just about everything in this video
@AngirusYou know, it actually took a lot to hear someone criticise something I enjoyed so much but then the critisecim is actually valid, plus there was so much I learned. Great video man❤️❤️❤️
@Syed.MuhammadAli-t2ton Point 15, hell no you are wrong there, since season 1 SCENE 1 Vander was implied he knew the girls and their parents and he felt horrible when his revolution let his friends to death and their daughters orphans so he took on himself to raise them after, where did you got that they didn't knew each other?......yes they got scare when they saw him killing an enforcer after all their where just children, but they recognize him and with sign ask where their parents where and that's when Vander point to their bodies and see Vi devastated was what made Vander realize how wrong he was....bottom line, they knew each other and this point is wrong sorry.........so far besides that one, agree will continue watching to see if disagree on another point....okay finish, pretty much agree on everything else, is a shame,I wont say Arcane season 2 is the worst season of a tv show I have seem, (Devil May Cry and Nocturne alone will take that spot, and many other worst shows), but is a huge let down, like they took 6 years on season 1 to craft a perfect first season and we all assume the same was been doing to season 2, but no...they rush to close all stories and in a way that made no sense, is very disappointing
@Kusanagikaiser99918:20 Its implied that ekko is the mentally unstable one in that universe. Powder even calls them "genius and madness." This parallels the original universe where Jinx is "madness" while Ekko is "genius."
@ItzAsh3rrYou don't have to agree with them to appreciate their work. If there were no critics our media would all be dogshit, if you keep room for improvement you can only go up
@meozy4365this guy cant pronounce the name of a league character, talks about a show meant for league of legends players who know the tinniest bit of lore at least, and then complains that he does not understand the show. Good ragebait material tho
@ukoneserPeople tend to forget that this show is about the game.
The game where story is of 3rd importance.
The story which set all the origin stories, all the conflicts, but set 0 resolutions.
Because its that type of game - endless PvP live-service about conflict.
23:30 “wowic”
@reviolnoss335012:35 jinx isnt an innately evil person- yes she has trauma but she also knows right from wrong- she just chooses wrong on purpose. Jinx was sort of closed off to isha because of her trauma and she was afraid of that. Then gradually she got closer with her an saw her as she saw herself when she was younger.
@-I-Love-Metal-Isha is not supposed to be really a character. But more of a symbol in the story. She is jinx- but jinx as powder. If you watch a video deepdiving on isha then you’ll understand what im trying to say. But shes not just a bland character. Shes a much deeper part of the story than most look into
@-I-Love-Metal-This video was published in December? Im pretty sure thats a different month from April.
@kenji4330Bro dont get so many points
@heinrichfahrenbruch5948Yes. Yes, yes. I will say this, though: Season 2 tugged harder on those damn heartstrings than anything I've ever seen. Season 2 wasn't nearly what Season 1 was, and failed to deliver on almost everything except... the feeling
@tiendaweiiNone of season 2 makes any sense from a cause & effect perspective - Things just HAPPEN for no established reason other than "the writers said so", which *IS* bad writing; no amount of emotional manipulation or cool character pairing or musical accompaniment can change that. Aesthetics are NOT substance. I've gotten into so many fights with people over this exact topic, and I'm so glad to see I'm not alone in my assessment that season 2 is WOEFULLY incompetent compared to season 1.
If you ARE someone who enjoys season 2 - you owe it to yourself to interrogate WHY you enjoy it; do the flashing lights & cool character moments make you feel good? do the music video portions visually please you? If so; GREAT! But you CANNOT, in good faith, say that the story is good or that the writing was done well. It isn't, and it never was - no amount of cope changes that... And you'll have to forgive the rest of us discounting your opinion on what is considered "good" writing, for all works in the future; Clearly peak cinema to you is jangling a bunch of pretty keys.
Idk why this showed up 1 year later but I want @necrit pov
@Srikrishna-0714:19 That’s typical siblings, especially sister, behaviour. We try to kill each other in one minute and in other minute we chatting like nothing happened 😭
@BlackpinkPtowBestGgSoportenhonestly focusing it on a viktor rework was the mistake, now not only is vi/jinx basically secondary but also we see jayce more without getting heimerdinger, mel and that kinda sucks, and the league lore is in pieces and makes no sense
@APTori04other then ekko season 2 was a steaming pile of doo doo and jayce was the worse of it. so was fkn caitlyn x vi dude that shit was painful. so many things were so forced
also caitlyn and ambessa defo fked that WHORE
I feel like I can only really watch season 2 from an emotional point and have to turn my brain off which is not really what should happen with a show like this 😅
@ashastewart6091Okay man, I do not quite agree with the stuff about Jinx not being idolised. Like even if in the end it caused more harm people idolise these kind of people. Yes it's technically their fault people have a worse life but I wouldn't underestimate the power of making a statement against the oppressor even if it has consequences. In history causing the issues afterwards doesn't outweigh the sheer revolutionary tendencies of the opressed
@filasablack4195I'm not gonna lie, i came for Jinx, and her lil deaf sister, thats all i needed kinda just ignored that Vi and Caitlyn existed, they were cute and slightly annoying in the first season but then they just became baggage. Mel, was useless, honestly. Ekko wa ok, same with Hammerdinger. Jace and Viktor were ok, Sky was cool. Out of the three side characters, i liked the big guy, liked him more than Vi. But like i said, Arcane for me lives and dies with Jinx, and somwhow they managed to make her adopted deaf lil sis the second most importatnt character to me. Oh almost forgot even Ambessa was cool she's tied with Sevika for number 3.
@Epic-Clipz294Genuinely smiling ear to ear, all giddy and shi cuz why is everything so accurate LMFAOOOOOO
@alyannalepaopao7170Even as LoL hater, the first season was kinda good. The second season is almost joke
@ex-mentalistWait wait wait lets roll back on 6:40 cuz I PROMISE you that was NOT the wind 😭😭😭
@LenixDude17:35 terrible example because most sharks actually ARE friendly
@MariaTheGhost-x3uAll Im ever gonna say...
What could've been...
I’m not saying season 2 was perfect or as good as season 1 but I think you grossly misunderstood the character arcs of the main cast in season 2 and you didn’t understand the purpose of the supporting characters in the season as well as well as the social and political environment.
@dadudeman3165Ekko didn’t get hit because Vi or Jinx had taken out the light stream I believe.
@otakusamsay1953You were right the first time, season 1 sucked too
@LingrIcenArcane season 2 is the kind of show that relies on obsessed fans' headcanon to create engaging characters and emotional tension rather than just putting it in the story themselves.
@pikastudios2850
