That’s a great Play List. Thanks for posting it. Your Apple lessons are just what I need. As an old guy I need the training on Apple devices so I can keep up with my kids.

Though I was a high school band director for 30+ years, my real passion is music for men’s chorus. Two suggestions to start, both available on Apple Classical: Quatre petites prieres de saint francois d’assise (Four Prayers for St. Francis de Assisi) by Francis Poulenc sung by the Harvard Glee Club and Nearer My God to Thee sung by BYU Vocal Point and the BYU Men’s Chorus.

My Gear:
Are they using ai portraits for composers in their profiles?

🛒 Sony A7 IV Camera: https://geni.us/PA1Qd (Amazon)
🛒 Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 for Sony E-Mount: https://geni.us/lkuYqbH (Amazon)
🛒 Earthworks Icon Microphone: https://geni.us/oMc8Xl (Amazon)
Couldn't they have implemented that on the Apple Music app itself?
The app could detect when a search for a classical work is being done, and therefore act accordingly.
It will certainly be a while for this new app to be available to other platforms, unfortunately.

They should do a jazz version of this

appreciate the the shout outs at the end, too, actually - well done! My junior high, high school, and music college profs were amazing and those hard classes were something I'm still thankful for to this day as well! (and next time I will watch the whole thing before commenting! - though maybe it helps your algorithm a bit lol)

... and challenge accepted. I DID try to listen to Philomel. Had to go back and listen to Glass's 4'33" to cleanse my brain of that racket.

Apple is off to a great start with the app - eager to see how they continue to refine it but just being able to search for a work and see all the various recordings of it labeled clearly is such a breath of fresh air.
More User Perspectives
I’ll be much happier when they bring this app to TVOS. My tastes in “classical” music run from plainchant to 1826 (the year Beethoven died), then they tend to become VERY selective.
@mencken8Great, practical review of the classical music app. Enjoyed the tribute to your teachers.
@brachiator1I hope they add a video game section. They often have incredible scores, and it's a great way to introduce a younger audience to classical music.
@munkycoolgamingLate 20thC: Lucieno Berio was a brilliant composer…… try some of his pieces….
@johnwade7430Does it run on the iPad? You seem to say yes, but I've also seen claims that it doesn't or it runs badly. I'm not buying an iPhone just to get Apple Classical.
@garydmcgathI didn't understand most of the "classical" terms you were going on about other than tuba and know zero about classical music overall. With that said, I have been enjoying the Apple Music Classical App for the past week. A settler review and walkthrough did help. Just been browsing Artist Essentials playlist. You have given me a second reason to come to Lakeland. First, Detroit Tigers' Spring training and second the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra.
@melodyof1974Love the SEU shoutouts!!! ❤🔥
@carlosgsantiagoNo cover flow back yet? Then it is rubbish. When will it be ready for Mac?
@bastiatintheandes4958Lacrimosa. Everyone does it too fast except Bernstein!
@nicksyrettThis app sucks. They still don't have folders. Everything is play list based. No good. I prefer Spotify because you can use folders AND/OR playlists. This is another "Apple knows best" app. In Spotify I can have a folder called Mozart and in it I can have trios, operas, concertos, symphonies, in something like the Concertos folder I can have another folder called Piano Concertos and one called Clarinet Concertos and so on. I can also have folders with performers or recording years, conductors and on and on it goes. I can go as deep as I want. With Apple classical everything is just one level deep and it's all just playlists.
@gtrmusic69"great pictures"?? - they're horrible paintjob... probably by AI? many composers even don't look like themselves.. look at wagner! 🤬🤦and we have multiple portraits of the guy, even photos
@MichaelKilesaGreat review. Most of my experience with classical music comes from job at Camelot Music as a teen, but I’ve been digging the new app and look forward to learning more about the genre.
@brand3241smithThank you for this review, and thank you for the shoutout to the teachers. This might be the first real time that Apple has acknowledged how influential classical music continues to be throughout the world. My all time favorite works are definitely Passacaglia (BWV 582) by Bach, and Bohuslav Martinu's Toccata e due Canzoni (especially the first movement). And a bonus, Karl Jenkins's Palladio: I Allegretto.
@iggy.cygnusVery disappointed and surprised that Apple do not offer PDF’s of liner notes, Qobuz do!
@simonlloyd100Thanks for this Video! I am a bit confused, because you can’t really use Apple Music Classical on HomePods, just if you transfer the Audio from your Phone to the HomePods which seems weird..
Towards the Western Horizon from Philip Sparke is one of my favourites! I also love the “Fliegermarsch” and “Where Eagles Soar”. You have to listen to them!
Great review and I look forward to listening to your playlist
@marksuter1983This is a really nice playlist. Thank you. Somehow it kept playing in transition to my car (Car Play), back to my iPhone, then tapped my HomePod to transfer there. It all worked but I don't think it was supposed to!
@elmnoiseGreat review! May I know if Apple Classical includes wind band recordings? I’ve been using IDAGIO, and wind band recordings are rare there.
@442KlarinetteI have a automation that runs every morning at 6am that starts playing classical music on my HomePods in the living room. It would have been cool if you were able to use the New Apple Music Classical app in your HomeKit Automations. Maybe Apple will make this available later….
@johnvanzyl4420Great review. Happy that the app if finally available. Great review. Looking forward to the iPad and CarPlay versions, so far IPhone version is great. I have lots of classical favourites. Did a lot of music when I was a kid, choir, piano, keyboard, band, home studio…also thanks to the passionate music teachers. If I have to pick one top piece, 2nd movement Beethoven symphony #7.
Great job also on your weekly podcast Appleinsider with your collaborators.
The tuba never gets respect!
@mediacafeonlinellc8728Can you tell us which headphones can we use to get the best quality from Apple Music classical?
@GunslinGerardoLove your playlist- thank you for sharing. ❤ Amazing that Apple are not promoting this new app from the Rooftops. As a retired Teacher your beautiful acknowledgements to many who inspired the younger Stephen are touching ❤ But William will be sad that you didn’t sing 😂
@patcostello3882Most insightful review I found, I can tell you actually used the app for a few hours 😊 just suscribed
@obscuracamaria2931I can’t stop listening to this new app! Love it!
@drumcirclerdo you play wind instruments? I enjoyed navigating the app with you thank you. 00:58
@RubensMateusPadovezeArquimagoLove the Thumb Nail 😄👍
@iGageitProps! Your videos are so smooth
@atrejuhoodreviewsThe link opened in my Music app not in the Classical app
@atrejuhoodreviewsExcellent video! Listening to your playlist now
