Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Symphonic Suites (Full Performance) feat. The Phantom Of The Opera

Have seen all of these shows multiple times. My favourite here is Sunset Boulevard - it has a dark and haunting quality. I remember seeing the original at the Adelphi so many times. The top price ticket was £35 then (and that was more expensive than the top price tickets for all other shows, which were £32.50 back then).

Id film it with the Americans so it has that old studio feel..
In fact id film like that..sets sets sets..the old way..

Possibly in black and white...AND colour...(same colour palette as the stage show..id add the blues / greens of phantom too)
Sung live/ and pre recorded..idBUT NO PLAYING WITH TEMPOS..as we did in the les mis movie..

If somethings going to be done it should be done properly..

Boulevard has the potential to be a masterpiece musical film..Evita does prove " it can be done"....

I could play Joe brilliantly...hes a tragic anti hero just like Norma is...

If its not " oversung" and acted beautifully there's no reason it cant be incredible....the score is a masterpiece.❤💜

As far as films/movies go EVITA is the hands-down best adaptation of Andrew's beautiful work...

Sometimes its easy not to undetstand the film medium..its a different craft...
And just " handing any piece over" to most " film " people is fatal..
Look at Cats and Phantom..
Totally missed the mark..
Again it's" sticking to source" ...STAYING WITH METAPHOR...and adding to whats already there..
Parker a musical maestro filmmaker was perfect for Evita..
Where Tom Hooper hadnt a clue with cats or les mis..
Incredible really how " to get something so so wrong"..

Stronger contracts needed..
Back to the old studio system ..screening testing scenes before a live audience first..
We've lost our way a bit in our great industry..and I'd like us to find our way home again..

Omg, listening to the Evita part just now I realised that it was in 1981 that I first saw this musical on Broadway. Where did 43 years go ???

ALW should reorchestrate "Phantom of the opera" based on this suite. In the original musical the orchestration is often poor. With a new orchestration he should also review the vocal lines: so that real opera singers e can sing this work and not only actors who pretend to sing.

I was extremely lucky to have attended most of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals at the west end with the original casts ( Phantom twice )
Now after almost fifty years I get the same thrills & admiration that leave me just speechless Bravo to all these musicians one by one & the conductor especially ❤❤

ALW is really a genius when it comes to musicals…I love how the Sunset Blvd is played. And of course the Phantom is something not to ignore…Am listening and watching this in my daughter’s terrace while having a sip of my coffee. What an afternoon…When we grow older we tend to be tender and feel the love of someone who’s gone. Am teary eyed…Bravo the musicians who played their piece…Hands off to them.
