America’s Ten Best Cities, Ranked

Video Overview & Insights

The United States is a massive country, one of the largest, most populous, and most culturally diverse in the world. With a lifetime of places to visit in just one country, I thought it could be fun to put together a list of ten major US cities that stand out above the rest of the pack - whether for their culture, attractions, or the experience they provide visitors and residents. Today - America’s ten best cities, ranked.

Which cities do you think should've made the cut?

I agree that Baltimore and Pittsburgh both deserve sports. Both are great places to visit with lots to do. New York vs San Francisco is an interesting question. New York has a vibe that is unique, but it is true that San Francisco is more scenic. I have lived in both metro areas, New York will always be my favorite city.

San Francisco came under a lot of fire by conservative media. It's great to see someone really appreciating how amazing it really is! Awesome video vy the way.

Baltimore is here because it murdered the rest of the list, I guess. That place is ROUGH. Culture-rich, sure, but also a complete shithole lol

Been to SF twice and I think it's highly overrated. But..props for leaving off Houston, Dallas, and Miami

Can you link that travel time map from 3:51? I'd love to play around with something like that!! I love looking at physical atlases, but the drive time is super different between areas with mountains, or rivers that only have certain crossings, or other unknown variables. That looks so cool!!

I know it's fine to make content just about the US and not all of North America but damn it would be nice if there were more of these kind of lists that included Canada and Mexico. It feels like only about 1 in 10 do

New Orleans is top 5. No contest

Placing Baltimore and Pittsburgh over cities like Seattle and Denver is a….choice

@bishoptatum8737
@

Immediately had to get off video as soon as I saw Murdermore and that you never been there. There is a reason its so cheap even with everything that should be going for it (walkability and history)

I tend to rank cities by their universities. Chicago, Pittsburgh and Baltimore are excellent choices! San Fran not so much 😄

Check out UW in Seattle.

Thanks for not including any southern cities and Texas cities; they all suck.

Bro really put LA, Baltimore, NOLA, and Pittsburgh above Austin, Seattle, Portland and Nashville. I refuse to stand for this New England propaganda

I ranked my 19 favorite US cities. I ranked Pittsburgh in 4th, because I really think it's just such a cool city. I love it's buildings, hills, rivers, bridges and especially it's history. I am from the Wasatch Front, in Utah so I am a bit biased about my home population, as well. For this, I put Salt Lake City as the 3rd. The best thing about Salt Lake is it's rocky mountain covered skyline, especially with the Salt Lake Temple in it. It's beats any amount of man made buildings, in my opinion.

Philadelphia
Washington
Salt Lake City
Pittsburgh
Anchorage
Honolulu
St Louis
Boston
Cleveland
Charleston
New York
Seattle
San Francisco
Kansas City
Nashville
Little Rock
Denver
Dallas
Cincinnati

Despite San Francisco being #1, clearly you are an East of the Mississippi River person. Seattle, Denver and Portland have it all over a few on this list. And if you want to talk culture, Miami. As for up-and-comers, I'd put both Salt Lake City and Charlotte on

Nice overview! BTW, the Pittsburgh Metro is 2.4 million. The CSA is 2.6.

I agree with Philly 100% It is very special, and its positives transcend its serious challenges.

Pittsburgh.

@whitewine101

Seattle and Bellevue (basically a satellite city next to Seattle) 100% deserve to be in the top 5.

Crime is interesting, because it’s often overblown in my opinion. A huge percentage of crime is between people who know each other. So, if you hang out with bad dudes, expect bad stuff to happen. If you’re involved in drug dealing, gangs, etc., then expect bad things. Also, crime tends to be clustered into certain neighborhoods. Look, I’m not undermining that crime and saying that you shouldn’t want it gone from your city; it’s terrible. However, when considering your own personal safety, it’s de-weighted quite a bit. Also, driving kills 40,000 Americans per year. I know people in rural areas who drive 70,000 miles a year. They’re at a lot more risk than someone who can hop on transit - which is extremely safe. I’ve been to all 50 states (I’m on the road a lot for my job), and my favorite U.S. cities are Seattle, Minneapolis, Philly, Phoenix, and San Francisco. I like Philly because it’s beautiful. That’s the only east coast city I’d include. Phoenix is a car infested wasteland, but I love nature, and it’s so close to amazing places such as the Superstitions. I love cities because I like nature more, and dense/walkable cities that don’t sprawl (and require hundreds of square miles of surface parking lots) best protect nature. So, i like cities where you can live without a car but then rent one for the weekend and be camping up in the mountains a couple hours later. SF, Minneapolis, and Seattle accomplish that. The east coast just isn’t quite as good for that (although upstate New York has some nice areas, it’s quite far from NYC).

Chicago: Sears Tower? ...How old is this video?😅

Technically, Baltimore is a southern city, since it's in Maryland. But everyone knows it's Northeastern, like DC also.

@bmjv77

Man fuck the south u been only to Cbus ( great city btw ) in OH, come visit the Land and Cincy man both vastly underrated

@henrytalmadgewooteniv3692

Milwaukee is always disregarded due to crime (justified) or not having much to do (not justified). It’s a surprisingly distinct culture and it’s close to Chicago, Madison and beautiful nature further north, such as Door County peninsula.

When you mentioned the Brooklyn Bridge - the image that you showed wasn't that bridge but the Manhattan Bridge with the picture taken from a spot in Brooklyn that became Instagram famous or TikTok famous

Guess - 3. Boston, 2. San Francisco, 1. New York

I’d probably replace San Juan with Seattle but I don’t know that much about San Juan

@GoldenRam31

I’m so glad Baltimore made your list. It’s an underrated city imo due to the bad parts getting all the attention and the wire and other bad publicity, but it’s very fun and great food. I live in DC but Baltimore is more fun and has more character so I always go on the weekends.

@GoldenRam31
@

Pittsburgh is an amazing city and that's coming from someone with a west coast bias. Haha! I visited once for a graduation and was blown away by the wealth of museums, art and culture, historic sites and nautical beauty. I would say it's my favorite east coast city.

Great video, was surprised not to see Seattle

@Datch18

Boston , New York , and San Francisco
Are the current top 3.
However the governments and voters predict that a future list will eliminate them as obviously they have for Seattle that has a location so overflowing with natural beauty it should be a top world city
I’m very biased but my number 1 would be Boston.
The city is the only truly safe city because of a very active church culture there is little violence.
It also does not have a chain of poverty ,crime and violence wrapped around its neck like New York City and San Francisco. With Oakland.
Study after study rate the region as the safest and best place to raise children without the need for private primary education .
Both New York and San Francisco are way to risky places to set down economic roots right now because of their voters . If capital out flow continues the flood gates could bust open and it’s the end.
Sorry it’s true. San Francisco and New York can be busted for a weekend or a vacation without living there and realizing some politician just emptied a lifetime of work into the public coffers leaving your kids destitute. If I’m going to pay European socialist levels of business and inheritance tax , I’d rather have a place in Paris or Barcelona to call home
