@godzilaboysilasIn 1950 there was no final. The World Cup was decided in a final group stage with Brazil, Uruguay, Sweden and Spain in it.
Brazil smashed Sweden 7:1 and Spain 6:1, Uruguay drew Spain 2:2 and won 3:2 over Sweden. On the last matchday Brazil faced Uruguay and you can imagine after these results it was pretty obvious who was the favorite. Brazil only needed a draw in this game but lost unbelievably 1:2 and Uruguay became champion and so people think about this game as the final back then
USA being third in 1930 was gifted years after since there was no third place game in 1930. FIFA simply closed that gap and named USA third over Yugoslavia because they played a better group stage, but Yugoslavia and USA never actually faced each other back then. Both lost their semis 1:6. USA vs Argentina and Yugoslavia vs the host and later winner Uruguay. Yugoslavia even beat Brazil in the group stage on South American soil and was responsible for their elimination after the group stage. But USA managed to score one goal more in their much easier group, so FIFA decided to let them be third
