I think one key aspect being missed here is that AI knowledge is not as exclusive as some believe it to be. A computer science undergraduate can already build AI powered simple robots on a budget. This knowledge can be used by the citizens and for the citizens through democratic governments. We are just going to have to fight for a strong democracy and learn to defend and strengthen our governments (the current liberal agenda has lead many people to believe that the government is not their representative, but their enemy). Private interests will try to further buy and control politics and might try to subvert democracy so their interests are no longer threatened by voters, that is why defending democracy is key

The Earth was on the brink of collapse under this strain. So, the World Government — established by dictatorial means in 2075 under its leader Fredarik Hailer — decreed the ultimate solution. Every person must have a chip implanted in their head, and on January 1st, 2081, half of humanity will be executed at random by the chip via AI, so that the other half can continue to live.

Yes, the AI has access to your information, it has access to the internet. So it has access to everything you put on the internet. Saying the AI is going to take over humanity is what ticked me most. The AI only exists because of humanity and would disappear without us. It is an excellent processor with a tendency to go wild because of an excess of information, without anything to process, it just dies.

So no, the AI is not going to cause humanity's collapse and it's not an autonomous intelligent being. It's an artificial intelligence, and it only works as a mirror to its user. Ask it how to conquer the world, it will tell you. But most likely you'll get a weird plan that makes no sense served with extreme enthusiasm.
