Bro I'm not so good at English and now my study level requires listening lectures from sources where lecturers are speaking English very fluently and I'm unable to catch them without turn on the caption button, any advice so I no more feel difficulty to any person talking English how much fast?
Active listening skills, which some people call reflective listening, are critical for professionals, leaders, students, parents, customer service, and counselors. In short, active listening is the foundation of effective listening.
As explained in the video, it involves 1) both verbal and nonverbal cues, 2) asking good questions, and 3) giving an informed response.

...In addition to what I said, (above, or below).
As I do my Best to Listen to her, when I speak with her, she typicalooks up from her iPad, I start to speak, she turns back to whatever is on the iPad and says nothing because she didn't hear a thing I said. I know this is true because I start saying absurd, random, dramatically disconnected weirdness schitt that might make someone whos listening laugh, but she simply does not respond. It's as if I'm not in the room.
All that to say, I see what looks a lot like a Double Standard here.

I like what I'm hearing, however if and when I ask Wife for clarification, it just passes her off because she assumes I'm simply NOT LISTENING.
When she's talking and I give a short phrase, or a word of affirmation to show her that I am IN fact Listening, that too pisses her off because in her mind, I'm "Interrupting her".
So, with any slight, or simple demonstration of my affirming what she's saying, is simply Intolerable.
So, naturally, when I DO shut up and say nothing while she's lecturing me, as not to get my ass chewed for Interrupting her, I'm then accused of NOT Caring Enough TO Listen to her.
Granted, I don't automatically look her in the eye when she's TELLING ME something because I feel like the ever errent child who KNOWS he's gonna get his ass chewed no matter WHAT he does.
Plus, I'm Exceedingly ADHD, and Yes, my ADHD in very Problematic for me, and those who have to deal with me for whatever reasons...
I try and cc it only gets worse...
I don't quite know what to do 🤔
Dude, I've had multiple people tell me, "You're not listening," and I didn't even realize I was doing it. I just keep zoning out while they're talking. One person even got mad before it finally clicked.
Seriously, what do I do? How can I stop zoning out and actually stay present when people are talking?
I usually pay more attention to something else, or while listenig other I just zone out and enter into my mind, dreamy overthinking
@toobanoor-t2gThank you
@fahimehrafiei92443:04 it is really helpful but it doesnt feel right if someone is noticeably doing this utteringness in automation.
@whereizmybookI need to work on listening to the answers of the person responding fully. Usually I have the habit of interrupting in between, which I realised is actually not good.
@SanaHasseja-h7zTnx❤
@DEMONSLAYER-wneeded this reminder tbh — i catch myself planning my reply instead of actually listening all the time 😅
@BoHail-m8jfor me it will be commitment, i easily tend to zone out in the middle of conversations.
@ngangakayange5429I need to work on the opposite persons gestures and their expression
@kaarthickv2125I can't focus on podcasts hence I'm here 😭😭😭
@tanishapaul07Everyone knows that listening is very important especially at school
@SWfan2012How can the integration of theoretical predictions and experimental findings pave the way for novel material designs that address current limitations, and what are the key challenges that need to be overcome to effectively advance the application of hard carbon anodes in next-generation sodium-ion batteries?
@dawiszarins2088I have a hard time asking good questions, I never know what to follow up with, it's like my brain is just broken
@tlemon7001I would say that I need to work on good follow up questions.
@Analog_nomad01I Mean how can we listen to other language speaker accurately ,it takes time to process know ?
@SanjaysreeVathsanI need to improve my response. I usually just listen to what other people say, not because I'm not interested in the conversation, I just don't know what to reply.
@7btsluv150I'm 55 years old and learning to practice the correct formula all over again. Now my journey begins.
@Toney-TygurI'm by far the worst at not jumping in and talking when someone is in middle of talking non stop to someone else and get excited and end up cutting off person because I'm afraid of losing the insight and amazing new wise thoughts or story I just got FROM LISTENING! very frustrating and very ADHD actions
@tylerbohne9650It really helped me realize how much of a passive listener i am. I got distracted watching this video. 🤦🏽♂️ I need to get better.
@alexdelacruz4677I really enjoyed your video and these two points of verbal and nonverbal listening are more exciting to me.
@Santiagoedits8my bomboclart BEST friend needs to improve on all 4
@fearnotjasNo, those little utterances don't tell another person that you're engaged, but instead tell them that you are an american that has recently followed some cheap online course on how to improve your imaginary skills. Just stop shaking your head and repeating "i hear you", "yeehaw" all the time, and people will take you more seriously
@barmaliniThose stock videos are really distracting, I would appreciate just looking and listening to you, instead of having to guess what those models in an office environment represent
@barmaliniI have good listening skills, I just dont want to listen to a lie..
@mrs.becomes1234Great listening skills, one half of the conversation dedicate to other and to listen her complete story was the amazing part.Thank you for the tips
@kirantraveldiaries1:30 Um, yes. Yes it is mysterious.
@JustWriterThanks
@JacquelineRosanneChemyThis is my biggest struggle with ADHD...because even as I was listening. I had to ACTIVELY keep myself from scrolling into the comments, checking alerts...and when we got to the end of the video I just REALLY needed him to talk faster because my brain kept jumping to an autoconclusion of the video XD
@HouseDeRosaResponding to what somebody just said
@naveenddlll8717I need to listen better lol 🤣🤣🤣...
@JacobDover-s4mI need to work on active listening without thinking anything and distraction.
@shashih.k3215Alex lying 😂
@GoldenStatzGod loves you and has a plan Jeremiah 29:11.
@Samuel-t8c5nI need to work on the last part. I wanna deep dive so fast before listening the other side and I am now planning to decrease the amount of that action very slowly and naturally.
@emrecan_entertainsI wasn’t always a talker now I can’t stfu and not interrupt with excitement and stories tha correlates 😢 y can’t I shut up! I speak really well and ask great questions.. I though I was a great listener but not the best
@Earlybird4thewormThis is an interesting video. What made you decide to make it? 😉
@Vis_zzzActive Listening - 1. Commit, make the concious decision of making the conversation a priority. Relax, breath, slow down, and take your time. 2.
Practice - keep making the attempt whenever engaging in conversations. 1. Non-Verbal Communication, show non-verbally you're listening no distractions. Pay attention to what Non-Verbal cues they're giving you while talking. 2. Verbal communication, ask a good question, after, stop and listen to their response. Using Small utterances - shows and keeps you engaged. Saying a word or two - "yeah" or "I hear you". Doesn't have to be full words, "mm", "ahh". 3. Responding to what someone said - A. You ask a Question, B. They Respond (don't interrupt), C. Informed responds. Show them they've been heard. This can be by asking another question and/or reflecting back what you heard. 4. Keep the focus on them & Let them Talk - make the decision it is about them talking, resist the temptation to jump in. Keep your comments or questions concise. Stick to whatever topic they're interested in. Keep half of the conversation about them.
Explain in hindi
@RajYadav007nsnsI have good listening skills that I've developed over the years, and have the elderly population to thank for that...
@mrs.becomes1234IM LISTENING
@MarilyKroh-r5zIt would be really interesting if you went on a killing rampage so Netflix could make a movie about it and star Jason Bateman as you.
