Why are you comparing the real world?

Duotin allows you to go beyond the physical world into an ultra-reality where you can see other realities and move between them—which is quite simple, considering that Duotin can reveal the past and future from another reality.

MUSIC

Intro

considering her name is "Fran" Bow, and the name Fran comes from the ancient Frank Germanic people, and we all know what kinds of "hospitals" they were building in Germany before the 1950s. I think there's a good amount evidence to suggest Fran bow takes place in Germany, specifically west Germany.

Background

It does make sense to me that it could be in Germany, but that’s literally only because her last name has German origin, which can be an indication In games or shows sometimes of where things are taking place

Analysis

I highly doubt that Fran killed her parents, and Aunt Grace drugging her seems very unlikely when she can see multiple realities, even WITHOUT taking her medicine. The bodies were perfectly sliced, and Fran makes it clear that Remor is trying to trick her. Also, now that I think about it, she NEVER showed any signs of violence while taking the medicine. I do personally believe that what she was seeing was real, just in different realities. Maybe the pills just "amplified" it, meaning they were a long stronger than they were expecting. And the vision you mentioned might have been a flashback and I personally believe that Fran was revived, then taken to live the rest of her life in Ithersta, which I perceive to be like a "Heaven"; not in death, but in peace, meaning somewhere where she feels/is safe.

The way you summarized it was beautiful, though. I also like to think that Fran Bow, much like The Mortuary Assistant--assuming you get the good ending or Closure ending--sort of ends with a feeling of hope, like you can get through this, even though it's hard. Like what Fran said at the end, "I choose happiness."

Here's what I think. Fran's parents were killed by Oswald wanting to conduct an experiment on Fran. Oswald gets Remor involved. Remore cuts the bodies up PERFECTLY. Aunt grace runs off. Meanwhile Fran is the pawn used to be blamed. Aunt Grace then lifts the unconcious Fran and then takes her to a Mental facility. Where, she is back in the hands of Oswald. But this time, the duotine prescribed to her by Oswald was administrated by Dr Deern. Deern saw this and was actually a caring person. Fran realizes the pills are the gate to the Realities. The 6th one being the Ultra reality. A point where realities merge and create a fragmented reality. Even after being off Duotine Fran realizes she can still go into different realities. And in the 4th reality we see Oswald is back still trying to bring her to the 3rd reality (earth. Pandora) to experiment on her. But Itward and Polantras come to the rescue. And that's how it's reality. It is said she is suffering from a mental illness but what? Trauma? PTSD because she has plenty of that in the Ultra reality she has them. But not psychosis. This is what I say. It is cannonically confirmed that Little miss fortune takes place in the same universe. Meaning Itward's appearance in Little Miss Fortune is cannon. Now, there was a game SorrowVirus. Fran is a doll in that game but I won't count that as not the same universe. The realms match up perfectly in Little Miss Fortune. Now, since Remor gets involved He torments Fran too. Grace, being an experiment, was more loyal to Oswald hence her weird behavior. From the start it is planned that she cannot go back to the 3rd reality for some reason. Most likely because they can't have any Human having direct knowledge of the rest of the realities. Hence, she cannot return to Pandora for long. Hence, this explains what King Ziar was talking about her not being ready. She got the closure she needed from Pandora, and bingo she went back to Ithersta. The end. Deern was in Mabuka's land without the purity Fran had. So he was posessed. Most the Itherstans could do was erase his memory to free him. Fran is alive. And more than half of what she sees is the reality. Also I really do think it was a retcon. This all was meant to be just in her head but was retconned into being actually spiritual by Little Miss Fortune for I think a better ending as some people felt bad for Fran.

Or it could be more tragic. This was all in her mental state (Retcon theory).

Or more domestic and down to earth. All of it is a combination of mental illness with super natural with the theory that this Gold-kb1ws guy posted an year ago. But too MUCH speculation. 2ndly it again doesn't explain the experimentation what was that all about? Fran was mentally disturbed that's why she was imagining things? Again, another thing, in the end Fran doesn't really understands that her mother isn't her Aunt. She keeps thinking she's grace. Doesn't make sense.

Also, about the car thing, so I think the main argument is that she is just mentally ill and what is happening is just her imagination. Hence what happened in that car when he was pretending to need her to lure her, is she that insane that she cannot see what is happening to her? Also, if it was all in her head, how does Little Miss Fortune have Itward or the other characters? That means she was not fully imagining. Also kills the guard where? The guard is alive until the maze sequence. I think the stuff with Remor might be hallucinations. Like He kills but brings back instantly. Could be some sort of taunt / warning to her. Also some guy said Remor could be Remorse in french meaning that Fran did kill her parents tying into hallcuination, but the thing is, Remor feeds off of bad emotions. His name is a bad emotion. Also, could be a 3rd person nod by the developers that Fran was given the strength by Remor to do a act she REMORses about. Pretty cheeky but Vegetative state and my sober day are also cheeky but don't line up either. Also, the cat in the coffin isn't a cat. It's some other animal the years are bone. 2ndly, why is there a 3rd coffin for a cat that is supposed to be for Fran?

What the "Secret" is that she is the one who killed her parents via Remor's power. I think I debunked this theory pretty hard. Hopefully. Also I think that the cat did survive that entire shit. It didn't instantly die it fell on Fran before stepping back after people brought her to the Assylum. Overall, the theory is too speculative. Also a bunch of lose ends. The dead dear could be Fran in the forest. Seeing them. + Remor has a dead Sheep's head. Where'd she get that from? Deer and Sheep are symbolic in Rituals. Also it's not that obvious it's Deern. Deern could mean something else. I checked it's a Girl / Whore Girl. Alright, something's up but still a bunch of lose ends to your theory, Mr Gold-kb-1ws and outright false things. Here's a list:

The deer symbolism is more about Fran’s fragility than a secret past relationship.

Fran’s memory loss aligns with PTSD and dissociation, not a planned erasure by Deern.

Remor influencing heavily but can't possess fully.

Remor is an entity, not Fran’s mother.

Dr. Deern has no proven connection to child abuse.

Fran’s hallucinations are caused by Duotine, trauma, and her unstable mind.

The story is meant to be ambiguous and surreal, not a detective novel where everything needs a rational explanation.

Why Would Deern Erase Only Some of Fran’s Memory? (He also helps her remember at the start. Even if He was just checking what she remembers why did He then not try to brainwash her completely? He says to the nurse: "Same visions as Before" Why not drug her to brainwash her completely for her to become his Girlfriend?

Deern and Fran’s Relationship is Not Personal. And also, why does Polantras, her supposed unconcious mind's being representing / manifesting thougths, take Deern's side saying He is just following the rules? Denial? Not so sure btw. If it was denial coming from her mind then we have to look at Misfortune to realize Polantras is a real creature. Hence, not denial but the truth.

I don't think He was ever Jealous. More like a strict parent. Especially when she was trying to escape. He wasn't concerned because she had already seen it all. She wasn't directly fainting seeing her Parent's grave. Also, He didn't make her sadistically do it. He helped her too. ANd didn't sound happy doing it either. Regretful that it had to come to it. Also, the other patients. If she overheard Deern's childhood abuse why can she see other's without hearing theirs?

Oswald and Remor are the True Villains, Not Deern
If someone was messing with Fran’s mind, the more likely suspect is Oswald, since he literally experimented on children and was trying to study their mind. Remor feeds on her suffering, meaning he has an interest in keeping her confused and unstable Dude fucking enjoys this shit.

Also, if Oswald was a good guy and fired Deern because of pervert behavior, why didn't this dude find something odd in the medical history of Fran? And how come he couldn't realize the difference between what's written down and Fran herself? What she sees isn't just falsified mind tricks that she still sees Her mother as Aunt Grace. They are real.

So that's the entire list.

Also, the 2 people I think Deern is one of them but not sure if He is aware of anything. It could be just a policeman with Grace. Maybe grace went to get help to find Fran? And they put her in a mental facility because they knew she was the culprit. And luckily for them it was the Oswald asylum.

Conclusion

Emmit Fenn - Tangled

There are also tons of Wizard of Oz references I noticed — like Fran’s small furry friend (Toto), needing to find the Wizard to solve her problem, the “professor” character is going to take her home on his flying machine (hot air balloon), and she kills that evil spirit with water, just as Dorothy killed the Witch with a bucket of water.

What do you think?
Theory: aunt and dad had a affair and mom kills them after drugging Fran killing the cat ...deere (moms lover) takes her to the asylum...the pills let her see a alternate reality that does exist (misfortune) ....at the end she attacks mom who is posing as the aunt...Oswald who had a previous relationship with mom and aunt and just wants another test subject shoots her...deere had been drugged and electrocuted making him able to help temporarily before being freed....I suspect Edward could have been the dad's soul from beyond the grave trying to help his daughter, this could also have been why he was killed if he learned what was going on in the asylum from the aunt in the affair and was trying to help save the kids causing mom Oswald and deere to plan and commit the crime.

Just to make it clear it’s confirmed everything Fran experienced was real by little misfortune. Where we see the mention of the five realities and see itward.

The symbolism is intention but just because something is symbolic doesn’t mean it’s fake.
As regarding Remor it’s like 80% likely bet he just possessed Fran and made her kill her parents Oswald, kind of confirms it . Fran isn’t to blame for the death appearances as she lost her agency.

Her disturbingly cute humour was probably the best part of the game, Fran Bows is a sweet gentle curious little girl who values her empathy for others above all the evil she faces even after discovering she is the killer. The hopelessness really sets in at every chapter even in her relm of healing, it's something we all feel deep down about death itself and the way those tree people described death was really touching and its what makes us brave enough to cross that bridge which was destroyed from under her feet.
I haven't played little misfortune but I think I will.

As much as I value the effort, this is all over the place XD. Sorry but the FACT is that all of it is real. It is so interesting how after 8 years no one and I mean NO ONE has pointed out or even bothered to look up for the pineal gland phenomena. The pine cones representations are all around the game as well as a photo explaining how Fran Bow was actually a special kid according to the Oswald Research Facility. All is in the Ektoplomatin medication which is supplied to Fran. Both files ending in 915000 match between the one in the basement confirming expermiental subject having the pineal gland active and the one close to Fran's bed.

We never needed for Little Miss Fortune to let us know this was real. The answer was there all along. Your knowledge is superb but unfortunely wrongly focused. No one seemed to even try tranlsating Itherstian which in English does give even more context to certain things.

I encourage you to EXAMINE the evidence and COMBINE it. That way you will be able to USE it in order to find the truth.

Regards from Mexico.

15:16 Oh finally, here's the theories that i actually came here for... You didn't really have to spend three fifths of the video reciting your dogma.

11:24 it's always so frustrating to hear this stuff, not only because we all think it's bad, those hospitals were ill equipped to deal with the problem, but the patients were incapable of living in society, they had to go somewhere. Your "modern solution" of dumping them as medicated violent bums on the street is working out so much better. If our society had an integrity, we would reinstitute the looney bins, as private businesses and attempt to treat these people with modern medice and Christian theology.

You are the type of psychologists that would be pushing for it all over again. You talk about "informed consent" yet i have no doubt that you are explicitly For pre-adult tr@n$g3nd3r surgeries.

A younf sounding psychologist like yourself just got out of college and have no experience and are just repeating what you are told. Not to mention the majority of psychologists are already "mentally ill" are using psychology to try to figure out what's wrong with themselves, rather than trusting a "doctor" because they are also narcissists.

Gotta admit, I wish there were more games like this. This game is something I remember when I’m not feeling well mentally, it just
it comforts me and disturbs me, and yet it comes to a sort of bittersweet ending. It doesn’t leave you crying, nor does it leave you afraid, somehow. I dunno why, the game is both frightening yet comforting. I wish more games approached mental illness and struggles like this, instead of using it for shock value or an accessory that is resolved in the end, instead of being something that you can’t escape, but learn to work with, and get treatment for. It’s scary, but it’s apart of an experience, not an enemy to fight, if that makes sense.

In a way, I like to think of some of the other realities as forms of an afterlife, which is further emphasized by the premise of Little Misfortune. I'm honestly looking forward to seeing this concept expanded upon in future games.

You can still get ECT. Luckily they sedate you first. I woke up during one of my multiple sessions. I couldn't move and thought the doctors wouldn't notice before they continued. Luckily one of them noticed because my heart rate went up and put me back under. When i woke back up i freaked out and thought i was being kidnapped. My personal theory about the otherworld after having played Little Misfortune is that it‘s neither a hallucination, nor a different kind of illusion. A lot of the otherworld feels like something there to give these victimized characters a sanctuary that elevates them through meaningful trials kinda like therapy does as well. This lead me to believe that especially thanks to the „game“ 4th wall break mentioned over and over in the sequel, that it‘s almost a manifestation of art being what gets people through these things. And these game‘s old world settings also seem to add to this idea that the real world doesn‘t often do enough but art still can heal in ways no kind of health path really can. I mean I‘ve reached personal breakthroughs thanks to therapy but also thanks to art. And I think that‘s really valuable.

And it also kind of makes all of this so much more personal too. Since the games literally imply that you as the gamer are part patient but also guide. As an artist it‘s also been really encuraging. I‘m still not ready to write my own experience based magnum opus because I wanna be able to do it without having a constant mental breakdown but seeing people resonate with this does mean a lot to me. Art can help you cope and also give you the same emotional power the games give the characters especially in this game series. And I do love the uplifting aspects of it too. I love the cat lady point and click horror game but it‘s very dark and stays dark until the end at least in it‘s aesthetic. I still love these games but I also appreciate fran bow for focusing on the healing part within a less grizzly and depressing world.

Even with little misfortune I was kind of worried having only seen clips of it that it‘d be this silly kinda adult humor satire game that didn‘t mean as much as fran bow did, but playing it myself it did still make me feel as emotional as fran bow did.

So yeah. Long story short, to me the other world is art because it‘s a sanctuary made by people who know what it‘s like to their core and offering a helping hand through showing you how they handled things wich ofc also echoes the intent behind the game since the dev said herself that it was her experience with trauma made into art to show ppl how she handled it, how she felt and how she learned to heal. And that‘s also why I like the concept of the otherworld. It‘s strange, personal, absurd and far away from what we see as reality. But it‘s still so meaningful because art is so flexible and personal. No other thing in life is like it really. And that‘s also what makes it special. I love these games, i love their Journey and their messaging and I love the compfort they give. Struggling with trauma is never easy or helpful in life. But we give meaning to anything by using it to make something actually meaningful to us. Fran bow is part of that. And I love and adore it for this reason alone.

Regarding your point about cruel medical treatments back then: I think it's important to point out that ECT (electro-convulsive therapy) is still in use today and a very important and useful tool in the medical toolkit. It is performed very differently, though, under anesthesia and muscle relaxation. Its history and the way media portray it makes many patients who'd really benefit from ECT extremely hesitant, though.

I've never believed Fran killed her own parents, i mostly think she blames herself for it because it fits better with the themes of the story. Grief is a very powerful process that can change us in many ways and children specifically feel this process much stronger. This means the normal grieving process of blaming oneself might show up in a child much stronger than in an adult and in the grieving mind, that is what happened. Fran thinks she killed her parents, because to her she did, she blames herself, but that isnt the truth, she probably wasn't able to save them or help them, but she takes that as murdering them herself
