I have a song idea called “Mr Nostalgia” but I can’t seem to find a good melody to fit it. I kinda wanted it to be almost similar to how “Peter” by Taylor Swift goes with the music structure. 😢

Hi! It seems 16:38 piqued my interest. Care to share the title of the music? It is my delight to put it on loop while I'm writing.

Nem kapok levegőt fulladok kissé
Ennek a víznek a felszíne is mély
Valakit éltet valakit ítél
Minden eldől a szívnél
Ott van a hit de a félelem szintén
Otthagy a csillogó villogó hírnév
A víz felszínén tart a tehetetlenség

just came from a playlist that had something like five ads in less than 20 minutes. already having to skip an ad here at 3:47. i’m not trying to be interrupted by ads every four minutes. that defeats the purpose of such playlists.

10:07 - piano arp melody (sounds nostalgic)
15:50 - another piano arp (it sounds like a memory)
31:59 - a piano melody (it sounds like a ballad)
35:22 - Ulfachree

I might as well share what I'm writing as I'm listening.

The novel, at surface level, is about a guy that gets turned into a chicken by a grumpy fish because a psychopathic cat chased them down. The themes are about agency and choice against a large, hopeless, and exploitative system.

Pretty fun stuff.
Wish me luck, lol.

would you read this story based on the introduction? (There's more to chapter 1, but there feels like a good stopping point)
Chapter 1:
The outside air always had a special way of making Kayden feel better. Leaning against the railing, he embraced the wind as it tousled his brown hair. The sun high in the sky. As the wind slipped through the leaves, it carried them to the ground. The sweet smell of the late summer pollen mixed in the air with the kitchen’s savory aroma.
Kayden couldn’t have constructed the evening better himself. Well, maybe not. In more ways than one, he could have been spending the afternoon better. Kayden’s third year at (insert because ‘Afton Academy’ gets too much hate) and he was not one of the few who’d thought it’d be different. No, Kayden tried to be realistic.

Everyone was outside enjoying the day. Everywhere Kayden looked he could spot friends enjoying each other's company. His eyes darted to a small group of kids. Whose shouts tormented his ears as they chased each other down the path —Kayden silently spectating from above. Chin resting on the rail, he watched the Raiders and Retrievers inch closer. A simple child's game. On they approached, kids dubbed Retrievers giggling amongst themselves as the Tracker caught up. Their hands out-stretched in hopes of catching the thieves, who dodged and hurried on. Kayden straightened, tightening his grip on the balustrade. The Trackers were inching dangerously close to the Retrievers, who, if caught, would be ‘jailed’ until their teammate's rescue—which hardly came. Already, the retrievers had snuck past the guards, or ‘Sentinels’ and stolen a specific object — typically a flag, but it differed. Knowing this as the head of the group clutched a red cloth to his chest. Some of his team glancing behind them, playful laughter slipping from their lips, only slightly tinged with a faint edge of anxiety.

Close behind the trackers, a group of larger kids followed — the sentinels likely. Kayden held his breath. His elevated view allowed him to spot the sentinels splitting up. And he fought off the urge to warn the Retrievers. Better not spoil the game. The end was in sight; either victory for the retrievers, or capture. Kayden knew the Retrievers would be caught if Sentinels slit up and blocked the path ahead —which was a common tactic. Unfortunately, he would never know, as the kids disappeared behind one of the large brick buildings.

As they disappeared behind the building, Kayden was left alone with his thoughts. They would never let him play. He was weak and generally disliked —thanks to false rumors. They’d only let Kayden play once, and only because his father forced them to, and, well, Kayden ended up getting trampled by the sentinels, resulting in a sprained wrist. Kayden wished it ended there, but of course it didn't; all the kids involved were given a lengthy lecture on accident prevention. Kayden didn’t care that he got hurt; the physical pain couldn’t hold a candle to the scorn he’d faced since then. His peers wouldn’t let him play with them after that. And they didn’t just exclude him from the fun; they went out of their way to make his life miserable. No matter what the school administration did, Kayden was the butt of every joke. He swallowed hard, wrestling with the heaviness in his chest.

“Good afternoon, Kay,” His thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice; the Mistress walked up the stairs with the Headmaster, they were on their way to the meeting inside. “What’re you doing up here by yourself?”
Kayden didn’t respond.

“His dad’s in the meeting.” the headmaster said in a gruff voice.

“Why not go play with the other kids?” the Mistress asked, smiling sympathetically as she bent down to his level.
Kayden sucked on his bottom lip, glancing at the ground before tracing his gaze back to some kids sitting at a bench.
“I’m positive someone would let you join them,” She said, knowing how little Kayden got along with his peers, “As a matter of the fact,” the Mistress straightened herself, “There was a boy I was just speaking with,” she motioned down a narrow path leading between two buildings, “he’s a new transfer student, doesn't know anyone yet. I think,” she turned back to him, a smile pulling at her lips, “he could use some company, perhaps a friend?” The headmaster tapped her on the shoulder then continued inside, “I have to go, but please consider it.”
Kayden smiled sheepishly as the mistress disappeared inside.
When she had gone, he went back to observing the world, in slight contemplation over whether or not he should heed to the mistress's suggestion.
It wouldn’t hurt, he mused. His mother always urged him to try new things—well, except for illegal ones. He had made attempts to make friends in the past, but it never seemed to work out; nothing really ever did for him.
With a sigh, he adjusted his position on the railing and focused his gaze between the buildings, weighing his options.
There were certainly benefits to reaching out, though he struggled to think of much beyond the potential for an awkward encounter. But honestly, what did he have to lose? Hardly anyone liked him as it was. And since the new kid was just arriving, Kayden had a chance to introduce himself before any rumors could spread.
Suppose it was his own fear holding him back, though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was he worried about.
After standing there for a few more minutes, still trying to weigh the pros and cons, he heard the door to the meeting room close, followed by a small bell signaling the start of the discussion. He glanced back at the building, then down the stairs; no one was around, and no one would notice or care if he slipped away.

Kayden swallowed hard, pressing his lips together as he eyed the alleyway the Mistress had pointed to. He gave a sturdy nod, as if reassuring himself that he had made up his mind.
