Thanks Sam! Your videos have been really helpful. Always wanted to go to Bangkok (and Tokyo but I'll still keep that one for when I turn 40), and this year I pulled the trigger on a whim and booked a hotel (Adelphi Suites on Soi 8). Staying 9 nights (leaving austria on november 15h and leaving bangkok on november 25th) and I had *zero* idea what to do besides "yep...theres rooftops and temples....and nightlife". Starting to put together an iteniary thanks to your videos. It's my first major vacation alone...My last vacation - within the last 30 years, I'm in my late 30s - was a three day trip to London with my uncle and a road trip through german visiting museums. Never flown alone, never been gone this far from home (the furthest I've made it was Tunesia..that was before we had euros). So damn hyped.

Already installed most of the apps you recommend and am in the process of figuring out the rest - passport renewal and stuff. I just had a question pop up in my head...I kinda missed that my flight is leaving ag 9:30. with the traffic, you think leaving the hotel per taxi/grab at 6 is early enough? always having trouble estimating travel time in cities...I live in a 2000 people town in semi-rural austria.

Love the part about transportation. I just came back from Bangkok and I want to add that BTS, MRT, SRT, and ARL cannot interchange with each other with a single journey ticket. You must purchase another ticket.
As mentioned in the video, boats and ferries are very convenient for places near Chao Phraya River and it is the ONLY public transport that connects almost all major tourists attractions. They are also crazily cheap. One typical example is that if you want to travel from Grand Palace to Wat Arun, MRT costs about 25 baht + 20min walk. The ferry is only 6 baht and reaches the destination immediately when you hop off.

Good breakdown of the transport options. One thing people miss about the BTS: it only covers a narrow corridor along Sukhumvit and Silom. Once you need to go off that line, you are looking at canal boats, motorcycle taxis, or just walking through the sois. The motorcycle taxi guys in orange vests at the end of each soi are the fastest option for short hops under 2 km.

In Bangkok, in your experience how is the language barrier? We are trying our best to learn a bit of Thai, but how it your experience getting around, assuming you don't speak or read Thai?
