A Brief History of Film
Video Overview & Insights
A brief history of some of the pivotal moments in cinema, throughout the ages. This is opinion based; it is what I consider to be some of the most important moments (it's impossible to fit everything into a 20 minute video), so feel free to comment anything that you consider important in film history that I may have left out! I will be covering more in future videos so stay tuned! This is my first video so any feedback is welcome.

By far the greatest period in movie history was the late '60s through the '70s. The worst period in history? You've been living through it the last quarter century.

Streaming isn't the future of film. Its how you would watch film. The future of film is how director, producers etc envision putting the story together and the actors ability to compel.
Also see the future as to what the culture society lean towards

The stuff about how the audience didn't need to be told how the man was feeling, just imagine Hollywood producers treating you with this today. XD Imagine not being talked down to like an idiot and just showing you without telling. And now I understand what Pops(RIP REGULAR SHOW AND POPS) meant when he said a movie is known as a Talkie. I wonder if the time when audiences were seeking Japanese films is why there was a time that Godzilla was extremely popular in the States. I myself love Godzilla and various Japanese series such as Super Sentai Kamen Rider and even manga and anime series provided by Shonen and Toei. I really wish that hollywood studios would return to the thinking of taking risks. STOP PLAYING IT SAFE YOU COWARDS! And you want us to think you like money. Apparently you don't need money that much or you'd take risks again. And you really don't have a choice if you want to continue making the desired amount of cash. I'll take an approach shown to me by Hydra in Captain America The Winter Soldier: You must choose to sacrifice your agendas to make your desired amounts of cash. Because WE! ARE! NOT! STUPID! Stop treating us as such you infuriating movie studios!

I think it's important to point out that Muybridge's "The Horse in Motion" (1878) used a series of cameras to capture motion for scientific analysis, producing sequential photos later projected as moving images. Le Prince's "Roundhay Garden Scene" (1888), the 2nd short video clip seen in your video, is the oldest surviving film shot with a single camera, intended as a moving picture rather than a scientific study. Both are crucial to film history, but Le Prince's work is closer to modern cinematography, while Muybridge's was a precursor using photographic sequences.

Great video, thank you! Only the background music was a bit too loud.
More User Perspectives
Non-American fillms are and have always been better than American "Hollywoood" films.
@craniumcaveSingin' in the Rain was released in 1951, not 1941
@mariswilson8937this was shown in my arts class
@dovestriderWhy no talk about contribution from India ..to cinema
@aps4989Great doc. Don't mind me, but there's an error, the movie ¨Gone with the wind" came out in 1939 not in 1962 like the credits next to the director, Victor Fleming, says.
@silviaangel7652Your content keeps getting better!
@StellasSimulacrumPeregrinusI love this video. First one I found that had good information.

@the_pigeon_whispererAs a master of film studies, I must admit that this is a great summary of knowledge about cinema. Great editing, music and conclusion. I came here by accident while practicing my English. I feel touched and I will stay longer. Greetings from Poland (we also have important film pioneers who worked on our own cinematograph and color film even before America - Kazimierz Prószyński, Piotr Lebiedziński and Bolesław Matuszewski). :)
@maryjane6512The video is good, but in later half it's mostly about American cinema not World Cinema
@samarfirdaus1206Gone with the Wind was not produced in 1962 btw.
@spagerrhowtaf86735:00 that’s just a theory…..A FILM THEORY!
