I’ve been to NYC with someone twice but want to go by myself. Any tips on how to navigate around the city without looking like you don’t know where you’re going and being able to pay attention?

New York City looks safe. I don't live in NYC and I've never been there so correct me if I'm wrong but there hasn't been a terrorist attack in NYC since 9/11 in 2001 so for the last 23 years! That's a big achievement
Also you don't hear about any school shootings in New York unlike in other US states such as California or Colorado or Florida for exemple?
So this proves the CIA, FBI and NYPD have been very efficient and competent to prevent further terrorist attacks and school shootings in New York
ALso every US state has different laws on guns like you kno, New York has the strictest policy on gun ownership. It's illegal to own, carry or buy a gun in NYC
Therefore for all those reasons I think NYC is a safe place to live. And upper New York state is even safer!
Of course there's gonna be drug dealers and homeless people but that's in every big city be it London or Paris or NYC
Just use commen sense, dont use back streets or side streets especially at night and avoid dodgy neighbouhoods and if possible dont use the subway at night, buy or rent a car or use different form of transportation

All good advice. It feels like a fairly safe city. I'm a 63F native NYer and I've never had anything bad happen to me (KNOCK ON WOOD!!). That said, I'm also extremely aware of my surroundings and that is a big part of staying safe in NYC. Once, back in college I had an upstate friend come visit and it was like she had a target on her back for all the creeps and scam artists. Something about her body language which was slightly oblivious I guess was like a magnet to the crazies. It was quite a day.
You don't need to be constantly on guard and afraid when you're here, just pay attention to what's happening around you. The longer you're here the more you get to know what's normal hustle and bustle and what are signs something's amiss and it's time to move out of a situation before it becomes a situation.

@immarvel_I plan on visiting new york late this year for my first time. One of the things I would love to do is visit biggie's morial on quincy Street. Is this a safe thing to do or should it be avoided??
@joedavis7538what if i want to buy some weed?
@sebastiansasco4117thanks,man. gonna go to NYC on thursday. Which pre paid simcard without a contract can i buy for $5 to have mobile internet? Do you know it maybe?
@nochnoy_peshehodThe headphones part is so elementary.... Should be common sense but many ppl. do it.
@edski8536😬✋ I'm already scared.
@franklin8618Heyyy....I've seen that face from somewhere on some other channel...hmm...
@franklin8618Here in switzerland, every male on military duty has a assault rifle at home. Is it safier than having 1 week in NY visiting during the Day, mostly manhattan and Brooklyn ? In 2011 went to NY and so much policemen i feel more in safety than hicking in the Mountains of switzerland !
@davidner8992i watched and studied this video intently for my trip to NYC earlier in the year... i got robbed 🙃
@louiem2Don’t have your cell phone out upon exiting a subway .
@scottprice4813I've lived all my life in rural Australia. Even small cities (and I mean small by Australian standards) kind of freak me out. I find Melbourne and Sydney intimidating (Brisbane's okay, it's kind of like a big country town in many ways). I'm honestly not sure if I could handle the anxiety of just being in a city like NYC. But that's more about me than anything else, obviously.
@DodderingOldManA tip I would give is DO NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES bike on the Grand Concourse, especially at night. It's statistically the area in the entire NYC metro area with the highest number of fatal accidents involving a bike getting hit by a car, and the entire area around it is not safe.
@mcl24563so basically you got shot so no New York aint safe lol
@Destiny5-5Hi, Planning on Making a Nest in NYC!!.. Tiny Apartment is My Goal!!.. Cheap is What I've Seen. Can I Do It With 5K off Plane??.. please Give Any Advice. Single Bachelor with a Small Puppy. Thanks 🙏 9/28/22
@grandmasboy3544No need to make a video on how safe New York City is, we all watch the news.
@jasperwinehouse9456Been here 3 days felt safe use common sense still and enjoy thanks for the tips
@derekclarkson237So essentially, DO NOT BE AN IDIOT, and use common sense. Got it, thanks man! I am planning a trip to NYC in October for my birthday, and my family are concerned about how safe it is.
Oh yeah and don't go to the bronx.
In 2014 I was with my parents in New York. I was very young at the time and we came from Central Europe so my english was bad ( I was 6 or 7). The first day we stayed in New York we woke up late in our time but it was 3 or 4 o’clock in New York. We stayed in a hotel very close to Broadway ( If I remember correctly) and my parents decided that we are going to go to the Statue of Liberty so we went on the subway. We got extremely confused about how the subway works and where we need to exit in order to get there. Of course we took the wrong train and transferred to a wrong train and we ended up in the Bronx at like 4 or 5 am. My father was scared shitless so we went to the closest subway that we did not come out of right now. When we where on the subway my father asked this guy who resembled (now that I think of it) Biggie Smalls from the way he dressed and looked. I did not understand a word of what he said and my father understood half of it so we again took the wrong subway. We ended up somewhere close to the twins and after a long time finally made our way there. We are planning on going to New York again.
Why can’t the subway be less confusing or complicated?
Thank you for this vide I’m actually going there today and I’m always aware of my surroundings it helps a lot
@ZxymiiAll this advice applies to all major cities
@TeamOfThe80sLmao bruh lives in a white area 😂that’s why it’s safe
@user-ho5vh1rv6rtravel all beautiful american street food how much money ????
@lelia63932022 UPDATE: NYC is not safe anymore, crime has went up and there’s more homeless people now and mugging. Even 42nd street is invested with filth and left unclean.
I moved last month due to the cost of living being too expensive.
Hey I wish I knew the woman's name but I two days ago left NYC. We parked in the Bronx and hopped on the east Chester station. We delt with the normal scams .but when we were done and reached the end of the line back to said station. That man with the cart had the best tasting thing I ate .chicken churro. My man I finding you first. 2 dollars 💸 loved it
@rogerdean2306I just saw this video and it was super helpful but I was wondering I have a friend from New York and they say if I were to walk at night I should have pepper spray or something to protect myself is this true or if I use your tips I dont need to worry about carrying any one of those? I’m a guy by the way
@sentrikegaming6117🤣 as a New Yorker I had to laugh when he said you most likely will never go to the Bronx. But you took a bullet and survived. You're a g.
@Aliciaaa87If u go to bk stay west
@abagz3919Carry pepperspray or a knife
@artmolinaIs new York flat or does it have hills
@andrewmarlow7303Do not live there , do not go there and you will be safe! . Without watching this crap.
@druntopronto7598I plan on visiting New York this year I’m excited I haven’t been there in over 10 years. Last time I went I was only 14 years old at the time my step dad was from Hollis queens, he toured my mom, cousin, sister and myself around the whole city. We loved it and of course being with a New Yorker that knew the city we felt safe. Unfortunately he won’t be going with us this time he passed away back in 07 from a heart attack while he at his job in Orlando . I shed tears when I first heard the news. We’ll be fine when go this year and yes we plan to be very cautious and aware of our surroundings. Again we’re not New Yorkers we’re Floridians
@Ldizzil5000You're delusional if you think there was only 1 robbery per day in lower Manhattan
@iRiShNFTI once met a chap from Detroit. Now there's a place with issues!
@The_man_himself_67This was good and helped calm my anxiety, thank you
@bongimabaso1534I always go to nyc and don’t have any issues and any borough
