I don't know how the situation is in the US, but here in the Netherlands and Belgium during the second part of our first study-period we focus on how a modern journalist functions in various media. Most of the teachers or mentors are still active in their fields. Lots of freelancers also.

The search for the missing cult members still going. Another crazy new age group, the Cleargreen Cult, is really weird.
These are Caucasians claiming to be Native Toltec Shamans.
This cult is a business profiting off Native cultures, and asserting themselves as official representations.
They sell books, too, but not in the cultural section.
The Cleargreen wannabe Native Toltecs sell their books in the New Age section of the book store.
Wow. So crazy.
If anyone should benefit from THEIR culture, it is the Natives themselves.
And why do the missing cult member's bodies keep showing up in the Southern Californian desert of Death Valley?

As a journalist, the most valid point is to remember your audience - keep things simple and do your best to avoid lofty language. Is tempting but a lot of people will struggle with it and disengage

Yes, years after years language has become the barrier for both the writer and readers. Its time we switch to plain english to connect with each other.

The purpose of journalism is to rip the scabs off the open sores of society to expose them to the healing light of day. Doing this requires guts not pretty pictures. Recent disclosures by Doge involving the misuse of public money shows that most Washington reporters have not been doing their jobs.

In two weeks, I am starting a university course in languages. Journalism is one of the possible routes I want to take after university. I've seen some journalists who stand on the frontlines of wars, reporting where the public can't see. The courage and dedication of those people is my biggest inspiration. To offer a view, a story, where others can't reach.

How did you get a journalism job without a degree in journalism? I’m honestly genuinely curious.

As we are humans it is difficult to objective as a journalist , scince there are diffrent intreste. But I feel What makes us objective is the methods not your viewpoint/ personal perspective. And the methods are interviewing , researching , observation and verification etc.

About #1, I believe there are journalists who record and publish as many facts as they can, and try their best to include as many angles of the story possible. That’s the kind of journalist I want to be.

The overdramatization of a story is definitely Not journalism. The hypoberlic attitude and purposely triggering tone is inherently biased. The dumbing down of Objectivity simply weakens the idea and practice of Journalism, and the actual arguing for the concept that objectivity isn't real just shows an underlying dishonesty in ones work & it is truly both Lazy & Lame aF...

When I got to middle school, I remember I wanted to pursue a career as a writer or author because I had been told I'm a good writer. I enjoyed writing because of the support I got. Then, I found out about Journalism. Ever since then, I have wanted to have a career as a journalist, but there is something I really can't get off my mind. Is it a good career to have in this generation? I can't get that off my shoulders, and in a few years from now, is there going to be a point in becoming one? I really can't ignore it.

It says a lot that here in the Netherlands random guys with a camera and a microphone are doing a better job at journalism than all of our big media outlets.

Like everytime you see a journalist on the news, they aren't a person, everything is very surface level factual, they don't have opinions, they don't keep asking questions to clear things up. It's worthless information that's not critical enough of th system and the status quo.

But these guys, they keep asking and asking and asking until they get their answers, they provide sources, they show footage, and all their questions are very critical and direct.

It's these guys that shake up the political climate and show what is going on but isn't shown in the media. Like police violence against peaceful protestors, or politicians attenpting to shut them or even getting physical after they refuse to answer their questions. And they purely get their money from donations. And their style is just to just interview a whole bunch of people, have hours of footage and condense it into 15 minutes with a coherent story while they report on what's happening around them.

But it's these guys that show us how important independent and opinionated journalism really is.

Good journalism isn't based on the looks, good journalism is journalism that makes you think. And it's these guys that inspire me to do the same thing and stimulate others within my political movement to do so as well.

And I want to know as much as possible on how to get started because of this. And this is what lead me to your video
