7 Red Flags In Dating You Should Watch Out For

Video Overview & Insights

Learning how to recognize the dating red flags and the early signs a relationship won't work out can save us a lot of pain and regret later down the road. We’d all like to believe that we’re too smart to let our hearts rule our heads. But when it comes to dating, too often do we let our emotions cloud our better judgment. To help you save yourself from heartbreak, we've created a video on some of the red flags in dating you need to start looking out for!

I'm so happy I can say no to 99% of this stuff. It's so nice to be in a healthy relationship.

A red flag not mentioned enough is when someone leads you away from God.

I think with hiding things it depends. If you think of telling a thought that could hurt someone, it’s probably something that should be kept in as long as there no intentions with thoughts. There is privacy to every single person. The only case where it becomes a problem is if it becomes a part of a broader pattern of dishonesty. The big no no with hiding things is actions, because then that’s something that is real. The belief that you owe your partner every single thought is not a healthy dynamic for you or the relationship.

When someone constantly professes love but consistently causes harm, it's like being lost in a dense fog, where the only constant is the voice that's leading you further away from the truth, and the only way to find your bearings is to tune out the noise and listen to your own heart

There are certain things I agree with and some that I don’t, it isn’t a red flag if your boyfriend/girlfriend seem busy with school or life, life is something that can’t be put on pause and you won’t always be there, as long as your partner tries to be with you and really expresses themselves and their feelings for you even those small moments count, you can’t talk 24/7 because everyone has something to do so in that topic of not prioritizing it’s better to look at what the person has done for you and what they do for you instead of just assuming they are a red flag for focusing on work or school

Basically Nice guy syndrome. Luckily I have "Rude Guy Syndrome"(Doesn't exist but imo it means being rude or acting mean to protect your true self of kindness and care before getting hurt again)

Reflecting on all my relationships in the past, it's looking a little red. While I am currently single and those relationships were in high school, I wish I came across this video back then to save myself some heart ache and confusion. I like how you guys mention that not all of these are definite red flags but they're more like cautious flags and certain amounts can become worse over time. I hope this reaches younger people starting to date for the first time so they can keep themselves happier, healthier and less stressed. Thank you Psych2Go! <3

I don't know whether someone will reply to me or not but pls reply otherwise I won't last for long, so I am in a relationship from 1 year, and this guy like uk he compliments me day n night, tells me he cannot live with me, and that he is beneath me, he want to spend his whole life with me, and in the starting months he was also the most lustful person I have ever met, like his gaze made me uncomfortable, but with time i got comfortable and used to all those dirty talks on my body, like uk he gives me princess treatment. But still idk why there are times when I feel like i just have to leave him, because in my life i am continuously experiencing trauma and have an unhealed inner child, so feel the starting i wanted a bf who could just understand me without me saying any thing and uk what i am capable of doing it, i can just feel when he is off , and just spend my whole fucking time to make him feel better even then my life is fucked up,so in short even though he love me,i just don't know how to tell him what i am going through and even when I tell him all that he is like what should I say, it's all my fault and then again his compliments that you're the best girl i have ever met etc etc. Like i don't know what the hell is he doing, he doesn't really seem to know what to do when I am sad, like man n he asks me what he should do!!!! Like am i the one supposed to say everything... And he then just assumes to say sorry,i love you n bye wow like bro i need you.
So yeah pls tell me what should I do, every month i feel like leaving him but i can't!!!
Pls guys tell me whether I am wrong, should I leave him, just harsh reality check

I confessed to my crush 3 days ago. I’m still yet to get a response. So I followed up emphasising the message was important, there was still no answer even Tho he posted on his instagram story later on that day. I really like him but I feel this is a red flag

1. Yep ,I at first thought it was funny how similar me and my ex were. Over time he became very different and genuinely just a terrible person.

2. He was quite open at the beginning ,but later on became more and more secretive ,especially since he emotionally cheated.

3. He always said he does and how much he apparently does for me. Weird that I never got to experience any of the things he said he apparently does. His friend always disliked me for some reason and actively tried to exclude me from things or just being rude to me ,my ex never did anything to stop that.

4. Yep ,I learned to actually talk when something bothers me ,as he told me to do. He kept denying things ,getting defensive ,telling me he can't be bothered to talk with me ,that he is done with the topic. Basically whatever I'm saying is bs and never happened ,so I should shut up.
Everything was fine before so why am I starting a fight now, when before I didn't talk because I already knew he would react that way.

5. Yep ,he was very very jealous and controlling at the beginning. It made me actively shorten or straight up not doing anything with my best friend. Later on his best friend kept claiming I was the one doing exactly that to my ex ,when I always encouraged him to play with his friends. He did occasionally mention though that he used me as an excuse as to not join his friends, so ig that's from where his friend got the idea.

6. My ex was very needy at the beginning and honestly I found it cute. Later on he didn't care at all about me. I kept asking if he really does love me and he would say yea all the time ,but never actually did/say anything to show so.

7. He occasionally randomly bought up his exes and I always felt uncomfortable. Ofc it was always their fault and they were terrible. He confirmed himself that I was a rebound first but then asked me out again because he "felt ready now".

He was my first love and therefore first relationship. I realised myself a lot of things he did were terrible and I should have ran instead of hoping and stooping down to his level. At least I'm able to recognise that I hurt him a lot as well, he did it basically daily so allowed myself to do the same occasionally or because it showed me that he actually cares about what I say. He could never fully admit or explain why he became so terrible towards me..

Great video, but I believe there’s a small mistake regarding the quote you mentioned. The phrase ‘It is hard even for a god to love and be wise at the same time’ is actually attributed to Publilius Syrus, not Aristotle. Publilius Syrus was a Roman writer known for his moral sayings, while Aristotle’s works focused more on virtue, reason, and the divine intellect. Just wanted to share this for clarity, still enjoyed the content!

The "they hide things from you" red flag includes fearful and dismissive avoidant people. Attachment style really matters when dating someone.

The fifth is probably my red flag, I'm gonna be honest.
And most of the other things I notice in my partner - but it's very hard for me to see if it's a red flag or not because of my BPD. It makes me worry and second guess a LOT, even when I don't want to.
The way he sometimes talks makes me second guess myself, makes me think I didn't say what I did, because he says that i said something different, for example.
Or frequently talking about his exes, he does that too, of course mostly the bad stuff and then a half heartedly "but it wasn't all bad, you know".

But what drives me crazy the most is something that just happened a couple of days ago:
"[Insert name] said that [female friend] might be jealous of you, rolling her eyes when you laugh at something I say" and stuff like that. Randomly bringing it up in our conversation. Maybe it's because he wants to see if I get angry or something? Or to trigger me? I don't see why he would feel the need to tell me this all of the time...

Your voice is so soothing and nice, I’m not sure what it is, but I love it. I think I could binge your videos for your voice alone. You should look into making ASMR. I think you could really do it great!

Some people sometimes agree with others a lot to not get into fights there really scary if i want to say what i like i'd just say at the end "but that's just my opinion tho"

One thing is that zodiac signs are bullshit and my husband is a Virgo. I am a Leo we get along just fine. Literally we never fight and we talk about things and everything so yeah zodiac signs usually are bullshit. Of course you have our disagreements, but it’s not like it’s not like we’re gonna be mad at each other forever.
