#7, do you throw away the onion after or can you use it for stock?

Great six tips. I'd omit tip #6. Constant flipping is a viable option. The culinary advice of leaving the steak alone is outdated. When grilling over direct heat, flipping every 30 to 45 seconds results in less grey band while developing a good Maillard Reaction. It is like the rotisserie effect in order to cook more evenly.

Coal stoker, paper at the bottom and instead of lighter fluid o use 91% rubbing alcohol, burns off and does not leave any off taste 70% works well too. Depending on what coal is used and how much is needed also a dewalt jobsight blower works great too if needed works amazing with camp fires too same goes with the rubbing alcohol. Mainly use the alcohol and blower if the coals are running low and need more coals quick in a pinch it is a great method.

Grill gun is for pyros and Guga to sear things. Yes I want one but the chimney works just as well as first thing fire that up and start bringing everything outside to start cooking. It is light it and forget it.

The onion method of cleaning for stainless steel has been replaced. Have a grill daddy and that thing works on a hot grill. If you have a grill with cast iron racks the onion is still good as you are cleaning and seasoning at the same time.

Besides the number one thing of make sure you have everything you need to cook right there ready to grab the thermometer is best thing to own. You start learning what it looks like vs what temp it actually is.

Wow great show and tips as usual. I'm totally going to get the flame thrower! No, actually two of them, one for the grilling and one to put behind the seat in my truck, for "road rage" occasions, don't' you know. Image a guy emerging from his vehicle with one of those in his hand, pointed upward, with the flame shooting out about three feet, and another guy, backing down, returning to his vehicle, and saying, "Oh, never mind, bro"!! LOL ; )

Love your videos. I must say, if I can give you a pointer - that guy with the hair and cool sunglasses? He seems like he belongs in a Miami Vice show. Sorry he's a little TOO cool for a grilling, bbq, baking, cooking show. No offense. Always enjoy learning from you and seeing our friend in that back yard frequently attacking the reefer!!! Thank you.

I resisted for a long time getting one of the pellet grills. I still use my good old standard Weber grill with lump charcoal. But man is it easy to just go out and fire up the pellet grill by flipping one switch. And the added smoke level is a good bonus. I keep forgetting about the onion trick though, need to try that one out.

Grill gun. Seems like overkill but it's quick and turns a chore into a fun start. Large lump charcoal can be such a pain.

I don't have a grill, because I've always believed I would ruin the meat. Every time I go to barbecue's, The burgers or hotdogs are always tough and dry, so assumed I would do the same thing. With these tips, I think I can actually do this. Bonus comment: The onion/oil tip to clean the grill is brilliant!! Thanks

Never put my onion in oil, that’s a new one to me. Ironically as I was watching this I realized I had my instant read in my pocket because I just pulled two pork bits out of the smoker

Ok I have to ask? what's the dented up fridge in patio area. looks like you are shooting something at it? lol

For steaks, even thick ones, Just Keep Flipping at high heat (I drop my grate directly on top of the charcoal) is better than a forward sear, which is in turn better than a reverse sear. Otherwise I’m right there with you.

The torch is also great for cleaning your grates

My Grill Gun was not worth the money and was dangerous. The plastic seal where the tank attaches cracked and started leaking. This happened while using it and caught fire while using it. Fortunately nobody was hurt. I replaced it with a propane torch weed burner which does the same job just, much better, safer design, and the angle of the burner works better to light lump in my kamado grill. The weed tool can break down in a bag and is portable if you need it to be. I zero percent recommend the grill gun.

Dont use flammable liquid and a match to light fire. Use flammable liquid shot from a GUN to light your fire!
