Do you BRAC?

if YouTube had a wrapped just like Spotify this would be my number 1 lmao finals week and I don't even need to click the play anymore.... the sound is already living in my mind 24/7

— @m-aria

I mean: do you follow the Basic Rest Activity Cycle? Here's a track you can use to study, then take a 30-minute break to give your brain a rest, before the next session.

Why does the graph look so weird? The basic idea is to keep the frequencies shifting periodically, so your brain will be continuously adapting to a beat that changes, to help reduce the chance of it "tuning out" after a while and getting bored or distracted.

bro what is that i locked in untile i finish all the lesson 😭😭that is very coollllllll

As always, I recommend starting with the bodyscan exercise before your first session: https://youtu.be/V2nnGKlNEd4

Are there ADDS before the end ?

Wow what a great comment!

DISCLAIMER:

I’m not a doctor, just a nerd who loves meditation and experimenting with new things. I test every binaural beat track on myself and make sure I'm happy with the result before I make it public. Ultimately, every person is going to have their own unique experience. Using this track is done at your own risk -- if you start to experience any negative effects, STOP using it!

I took my earbuds out and now everything sounds like weird alien noises??? What did you do to me???

So... after doing your 10-min power nap with headphones... Then some quick stretching on the TRX Row... This... just... might... work. I might be able to sit in a chair for at least 30 min and complete this assignment. OMG.

For who's hearing everything stuttering after taking of the headphones:
What you're experiencing is a fascinating auditory illusion known as an auditory aftereffect, and it's a completely normal (though sometimes unsettling) neurological phenomenon.

Our brains are incredibly adaptive. When exposed to a consistent, unchanging stimulus for a period, the neurons responsible for processing that specific stimulus become less responsive or fatigued. Your brain essentially starts to "tune it out" to save energy and remain sensitive to new things.

When the stimulus is suddenly removed, the "tuned-out" neurons don't instantly spring back to their baseline activity. There's a temporary imbalance, which causes you to perceive an opposite or distorted effect.

The easiest way to understand this is with the motion aftereffect, also known as the waterfall illusion:

1. Stare at a waterfall (or any continuous downward motion) for 30-60 seconds.

2. Then, look away at a stationary object, like the nearby rocks.

3. The rocks will appear to be moving upwards for a short while.

Your brain's motion-detecting neurons adapted to the constant "downward" signal. When you looked away, the "downward" neurons were fatigued, while the "upward" neurons were still fresh. This imbalance creates the illusion of upward motion on a static image.

What you're experiencing now is the auditory equivalent of the waterfall illusion, specifically related to temporal processing (the processing of timing and rhythm).

By "tuning out" or reducing its focus on the constant, predictable stimulus (the binaural beat), the brain frees up resources to remain highly alert to new or changing stimuli. It's a survival mechanism. Constantly firing neurons at maximum sensitivity to process every single detail of a persistent, unchanging stimulus would be metabolically expensive. By adapting and reducing the response to a predictable rhythm, the brain conserves energy. It learns the pattern and doesn't need to work as hard to process it.

So this is a harmless and temporary sensory illusion. It's a direct demonstration of your brain's incredible efficiency. The effect should fade within a few seconds or minutes as your brain readjusts. The more fatigued you are, the longer it may take to get back to normal and also the effect may be more pronounced. Fatigue affects all of your body's systems, including the speed at which your neurons recover and reset. The aftereffect occurs during the period of imbalance before the fatigued neurons return to their baseline. When you're tired, this recovery process is likely to be slower. The tuned-out neurons will take longer to spring back into action, meaning the perceptual illusion caused by the imbalance could last longer or feel more intense. So it can be a surprisingly good measure of how fatigued you are right now.
