And in these cases, they put in another kidney. Some people who had their first transplant when they were young end up with 5, 6 kidneys.

Another cool (and tragic!) thing is, sometimes the only kidneys available are from a young child. A single kidney from a small child is not sufficient for a grown adult, so in these cases, both kidneys are transplanted from the child to the adult.
