I nor any CFP that I've talked has ever recommended collectibles as investments. They are not investments. They are hobbies. Buy them because you enjoy collecting them with the understanding of not making any money. People who buy collectibles like rare coins with the intention of making money lose money 100% of the time. However there is a chance to make money in collectibles if the person enjoys it and doesn't expect to make any money. There are booms and busts like in the stock market with collectibles but often don't ever recover to their previous highs so be careful.
