There should be a major major improvement in hearing aids due to AI technology enhancements in the next 3 years. I am going to wait 3 years before buying my first set of hearing aids. My hearing test results were shockingly bad -- but I only noticed a slight nuisance before but somehow I was compensating.

I started Soundly after a very personal journey with hearing loss—and I know how confusing the process can be when you’re first getting started. In this video, I'm going back in time to share the 5 things we wish we had known when we first started researching hearing aids.
For me, it sounded like people mumbling. Now it's just louder mumbling. Not sure I would do it again
Whether you’re just beginning or jumping back in after a while, I hope this video brings some clarity (and confidence) to your journey.

Thank you for this video. I received my prescribed hearing aids from Truhearing and they are the RIC, (I think that's right). I am on my 6th day, and i have noticed that my own voice sounds normal again and I feel more focused! However, there is a "crinkling" sound if I should touch the and behind my ear. Is the hearing aid picking up the sound of my hair and clothing? Though I appreciate my hearing aids, I agree with one of the people who commented that hearing aids cannot replace your natural hearing. I didn't realize what a gift my natural hearing was!

In the US you just end up deaf...unless you have a lot of money. My job caused my severe hearing loss and screeching tinnitus.
I haven't heard a birds' song for 20+ years. 😢
The Medical system in the US is nothing but an extortion racket.
Pay to survive?...or pay to hear?

My KS 10 are now four years old purchased at Costco. Their return policy is 6 months money back, no question s asked!
It only took me a couple of days to adjust to them. I wear them for about 12 hours everyday. Completely happy with them and Tempe,AZ Costco!

I have been putting off getting a hearing aid too. I had a sudden hearing loss last summer. I have been waiting to see if anything would change, but it didn't.I just booked my appointment this morning.

Thanks for watching and good luck with your hearing journey.
It's amazing to see a "younger" person speak about hearing aids. These amazing devices are often marketed at the older population, and this is one of the reasons they're discounted as useful by the younger crowd. Awesome to have this channel available. I've been wearing a hearing aid in my left ear for close to 7 years now, and I should have started wearing it 10 years prior. Reason? Social stigma. Hearing aids are for older people, no 30 year old should wear them. A complete misnomer. These devices are incredible and lifechanging. I now share my experience with anyone who will listen.

wow! so much common personal experience in case of when not hearing aids

What is your take on hearing aids through Costco? I have the behind the ear device but still haven't gotten use to the irritation caused by the part of the unit that sits in the ear.
@joejohnson2478I was hoping to learn something about hearing aids and tinnitus. But good background--thanks!
@MultiStatsAmazing video! I am only watching all of your videos for my hearing aid research! I can actually hear you without putting on my headphones - all others I can’t Thank you
@DebbieHenderson-v6cI wish he had discussed setting the volume
@joanmcgraw6528What would you suggest for a cookie bite moderate loss?
@SheriNykampAfter hearing test in a booth 8k-4.5k beltone offers, I ended up with ear hear beyond. Used for a yr. They upgraded to their pro model. Clarity is better but that's about it. The beyond is stronger in sound. Now their pushing emails for their delight. the Audi lady calls me as if it's my first time after I bought the pro. I told her I was trying out the pro model with the 60 day trail. soon after an update came to my phone for the old beyond set. I let it update and then 1 aid stopped working, seems ironic this all happens in a timely fashion. Fixing me to need to keep 1 working pair. Weather the fix was in or just a coincidence, I will never buy from them again. So I try to find an update but the web site don't let me find one. so don't fall for updates if you try a newest model as I did. I just not sure but it's enough to break my trust with them. so now I'm looking for better advanced aids.
@markowade6834Waiting for my Apple air pods 3. Your videos are super helpful.
@nolongerwanderingToo long getting to the point so I lost interest. I'm out of here. All talk and not enough action.
@johnrobinson1020Excellent video. I’ve been on the fence for years and related to everything you said. A reason you might include in your list is: Who can you trust to buy from?
Customer “reviews” aren’t always legit and some sellers turn a decision to return into an endless upsell game. That’s a concern and a reason I have held off for so long. Who actually has integrity out there? Every website I’ve visited, is touchy-feely, but customer complaints often tell a different tale. But, watching your video - a guy who wears aids himself, and a young guy at that, gives me confidence. I’m going to check out your site and finally pull the trigger. Avoiding talking with people and pretending I’m hearing them (when I’m not) - even giving a generic response in many situations (which I positively loathe doing) is no way to live.
Anyway, thanks for helping guide me to finally do this. My family and friends are about to disown me. I wear my hair very short and prefer a more discrete solution which will make choosing a form factor challenging.
But hopefully your site will help me decide.
Thanks again for making a video that is actually helpful and informative.
Be well ~
Excellent information, I only regret not having discovered this video sooner - thank you!

@tenisiadavis5435This is by far the clearest description of the process of starting out with hearing aids that I have “heard”!😂 Thanks. I’m British and so have free health service aids that are good but frustrating too because of the cumbersome nature of control always dropping off. I’m thinking of the latest Apple AirPods as they do seem to have a good hearing aid facility and also an in-ear Hear Well device. Your video is very relatable and gives me confidence to move things forward from my current level of frustration to seek personal hearing optimisation.
@peterawlings6568Good explanation
@wcj6161Brilliant thanks for all your helpful information
@wallygerstmeier9436what about hearing aids Apps, do these apps only need a cell phone without having the hearing aids.
@syedazmatali5707It would be helpful for the hearing-impaired if you set your videos to automatically display closed captions, especially since a lot of these people are older and often not very tech savvy.
@ayoungtricknamedjim5498Hey Blake I really enjoy your channel I got my Sennheiser All day Clear ADC1 From Sennheiser I love them. But tonight my Grand daughter was cutting my hair and I took them out and put both hearing aids in the same pocket. When she was done I put them in my ears and the right one has static on it. What can I do about this? I know I did not get them from you but just getting some advice. Thank you.
@danieltilley4187The bottom line is: get tested by a certified professional Audiologist within a dedicated clinical setting. The Audiologist will have no less than a M.Sc.AUD (Master’s of Science - Audiology) degree or a PhD.AUD (Doctoral - Audiology). There are hundreds of “Hearing Clinics” throughout North America that test hearing and recommend hearing aids without truly understanding the complexity of the patient’s specific situation and needs. This is solely due to a lack of higher-level education. Every hearing loss is unique and requires amplification that absolutely MUST be tailor-made for that patient. This video was based on this presenter’s experience in 2020. It is now almost 2026 and the technology has changed dramatically. Taking an online hearing test then purchasing a hearing aid based upon that result is not advisable. Hearing aid amplification is expensive and extremely complex. Do the due diligence and do it correctly the first time.
@jimjim2822Thanks so much - very helpful video!
@RS-gl9ht4:40 I wish you’d say what the differences are in care.
@AGILISFPVHow can you trust advice from someone with an agenda? I cannot, down voted and moving on!😢
@DrummingMan1Couldn't you just pop in a pair of Raycons and be happy? Cheaper.
@GramGramGenX-ln5scWhich style stays in the ear best? I loose my behind the ear ones easily.
@robertboyet1639You have good content. I have severe hearing loss due to a) motorcycles b) career in heavy machinery c) genes and got in on the "professional grade" hearing aids early. A couple things, I don't feel like I miss all that much as people tend to talk about nothing. People that matter take the time to communicate not just talk. There is a difference. The only time I really need to have my hearing aids on is when people are around, otherwise I'm fine.
@ejfischer3170Thank you, very helpful. I learned I need to be more patient with my hearing aids. I wear them periodically, but you taught me that I need to give myself time to adjust to them. So I will wear them daily and give them and me more time to get used to them. Your experience with aids and the years it took you to learn has motivated me to wear mine again. I will also check out your website.
@marymcgahey5147How do I find the audio test you refer to in your message . Thank you for your content as I am investigating my first pair
@hamishrodgers8109Will medicare pay my hearing aid benefit if i take your online test and buy your hearing aid?
@stewynoflyI have the Oticon Real and I notice you don’t have the extra tail that flips in the ear. Is it something that isn’t necessary?
@finn55catsDo hats interfere with the part that’s behind the ear? Sunglasses? Mask loops? It seems like I’d lose the hearing aid the first day, since I wear a hat 80% of the time. I’ve been tested, and feel overwhelmed with the options. And sticker shock.
@nwlakehutMy ears ring constantly
@lindamassey7250Great video and I'm happy to see that it's about 10 minutes, my recommendation for all instructional youtubes. It's short enough that chapters aren't critical but they're still meaningful. For instance my wife walked in and I couldn't quickly view the "5 things" at a glance to share with her. And there's also the benefit of not making your title look like mere clickbait. By having the "top 5" list clear in chapters, that "reason to leave" is removed. Hmmm... you have timestamps but youtube didn't pick them up as chapters. Not sure what's going on there. Well, anyway here are the timestamps for the 5 things:
01:45 - #1 Understanding your hearing loss
03:30 - #2 Care model
05:00 - #3 Form factor
07:00 - #4 Adjustment
08:55 - #5 Confidence
This video was very helpful for me. Everything you said regarding hearing loss speaks to me as I’m in my journey to buy heating aids.
@kennypringle4580Why do these people show u things an don’t show price all talk then nothing.
@IsobelSprattI decided I needed hearing aids. I went in, got tested and they fitted me with their demo hearing aids. Really enjoyed talking to the sales man then I had to give the demos back. WOW! I went into the bathroom and cried! Two weeks later I got my hearing aids. It's so nice not needing to tell people to speak up, I'm hearing impaired. You don't really realize just how much effort you put into trying to understand what someone is trying to tell you till you get your hearing aids. To be honest I had started learning sign language.
@TheLongjohntimI live in England and we have a National Health Service. My Oticon Xceed S1 hearing aids would cost £3295 or 4306 dollars a pair. They are totally free including batteries tubes and service. My daughter has a cochlear implant, also totally free.
@TERRYCOOPERterlynMy problem is Eustachian tube dysfunction. When I blow my ears out, I get temporary relief from that, BUT then things get trebly because the hearing aids boost the high end. My mother was constantly blowing out her ears, and now I understand. I've got schwannoma issues, too, and tinnitus. Oh, well, we soldier through.
