5 Most Expensive Mistakes in All History

Mankind is too stupid to have nuclear power in their hands. I can't imagine anyone wanting a nuclear power plant near them.

— @Rob-mk2sw

We've seen people cover the most expensive fails and mistakes so we wanted to throw a couple entries in there that may not be the actual most expensive, but are super interesting and definitely cost a lot of money.

I'd say Germany invading Russia in 1939 is #1. Japan attacking Pearly Harbor is #2.

I remember Piper Alpha. 😔

@clareharrison3361

The cost figures sound overinflated and exorbitant. 10 spans of expressway cost 4.6 billion? Maybe in Japanese yen buddy

@Elephanthajsnen
@

Piper Alpha is probably the greatest argument for lock outs.

@autobotjazz1972

In industrial maintenance the best practice is; lock out tag out. To not have this in your maintenance procedures you have what occurred on the oil and gas rig.

The UK would’ve taken at least 10 years to rebuild similar to the Kobe expressway, after all the think tanks, public meetings and net zero loons giving their tuppence worth…

@santorini8423
@

All of these pale into insignificance next to the election of Donald Trump.

@someguy6076

I’m impressed that it took only a year to rebuild the Hanshin Expressway. It says a lot for the Japanese.

@simondesu1

It increased the over all depth of the lake at its deepest point? Please explain?

2:13 that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. It should be a channel ending case of only an idiot could write it.

The biggest man made disaster is the usage of leaded petrol in USA, where the world was cheated by capitalists into believing that leaded petrol is safe.the effects of released led has to a generation of dumb witted meuricans and 1 out of 5 meurican to be mentally disabled.

Kobe disaster was not a mistake, it was a freaking earthquake so powerful it destroyed almost the whole city !

@linkinpork-p9n

Chernobyl explanation is incoherent and misleading.

@markuslang1869

Every week that goes by without significant changes to how we get and use energy or how we create and dispose of waste materials, will cost us more than any monetary value can express.

The construction error of the Morandi bridge in Genoa.

The careless turn the Costa Concordia took near the island of Giglio.

@erik5374

Bhopal. Hubble. Space shuttle. Salton Sea. 3 mile island. All those actual mistakes. Not accidents from natural disasters.

@gein2287
@

It was not a nuclear chain reaction at Chernobyl. It was a steam explosion that exposed the nuclear materials to the outside world.

Blame it on Tudeau

@colinbray6408

You can add Obama’s and Biden’s most expensive disaster destroying America with their legacy

@mikethompson3534

I think Exxon-Valdez and Deepwater Horizon both belong on this list. I know you mentioned Exxon-Valdez at one point.

@FazeFalcon

The thumbnail was not a “mistake”, but caused by a major earthquake that killed some 20,000 people! I had just left Japan 2 days before. Had I stayed I would have been one of them! My entire apartment pancaked onto itself. My room was on the first floor! Although I lost my belongings I was allowed to keep my life.

@Dream.big.dreams

The train to nowhere in California should be added to the list.

@robinr.2233

Valdeeez is the pronunciation.

@SKF358

These are all disasters sure but "THE MOST EXPENSIVE MISTAKES IN ALL HISTORY" What are you taking. I know one thing you're not taking, is 2 Minutes to do some research. Such a ridiculous statement is defies logic.

The 5 most expensive mistakes ever... have to be...

1 Germany invading Poland
2 Germany invading N Africa
3 Germany invading Russia.
4 Germany building fuel hungry jets and rockets when they had a fuel shortage
5 Germany building even more fuel hungry and largely inneffective V weapons.

@DJTheTrainmanWalker

Yes. Another man made disaster? Mr and Mrs Trump on that fateful night not using a condom. There will be economic and social costs that will echo through to future generations.

@owenwells9557
@

Electing Trump should be the top two most expensive mistakes. 😮😮

Gotta say I'm not surprised.

For the Piper disaster. Hand off across shifts, or even operators still lags way behind what is required, in other industries because of “Can’t happen here, different industry”, lives will pay the price.

The Chernobyl incident could have taken a lot fewer lives, but the Russian government refused to tell the people of Pripyat the truth. They held a street fair the very next day, not knowing that they were being irradiated!

The COVID-19 lab leak in Wuhan tops all of these mistakes

…number 3….serves those countries right for refusing to accept the ship for refuge…repairs…whatever…why so hard?

@tomwong783

…in #5….why wasn’t a simple sign hung on the pump switch to not turn on…f’ the message…just a simple sign hung …”Do Not switch On!!”….so hard?

@tomwong783

Chernobyl is way overdone... Nice work otherwise.
