A Las Vegas family is counting its blessings after a fire destroyed a neighboring home and came within seconds of spreading to theirs.
If it weren't for all these people I could live my life in peace, but they're everywhere. Ban everything and everybody, except me, of course.
“I was actually terrified,” said Jamie Lizarraga, whose family home has been standing since 1991 and remained intact days after the blaze.
Lizarraga said he is focused on the people affected by the fire. “I just hope the best for everyone involved in this,” he said.

Manuel Cano, who has lived in the home for four decades, said he believes the fire started when people from outside the community used fireworks.
“People from outside the neighborhood shouldn't come here and start fires, because no one from this neighborhood was responsible,” Cano said in a statement translated from Spanish.
If I were in charge, fireworks in residential areas would be banned. This is common sense. That thing too many people don't have.
