The traffic on HWY 1 is about as bad as in San Jose, about the same down town. Parking is the pits.
The place is a tourist area. Locals just have to live with it.

I’ve loved Carmel ever since I was young and watched Clint Eastwood in “ Play misty for me “ , I did get too visit and it did not disappoint, had Brunch at his Mission Ranch , now many years later I just have the memories, unfortunately life did not work out the way it could have done , but I can dream I guess , love can be so tough sometimes I’m struggling too stay positive and stay on this planet 🌍, live your dreams every one you never know what the future holds , I’ll continue too live in my dreams of the past and hope , God bless you all 🇫🇴

A small town with a lot of shops, restaurants, and a beach, but not a beach that's good for swimming. A lot of the land is steep. Lots of small homes, lots of expensive homes. Right next door to Monterey, just on the other side of the peninsula. Right next door to Pebble Beach and the golf courses. Not far from some good hiking trails. If you're rich and can afford the property taxes, it might be a decent place to retire. Like Monterey, there's often fog in the mornings. Climate is decent but not perfect. Hopefully the moisture from the ocean reduces the fire risk that you see further south down the coast.

I have just discovered these channels of neighbourhood tours very nice I like them but why is that i barely see young teenagers walking around in these nice neighborhoods not even kids playing around their homes why,ive seen a father and son the rest is just adults walking around and sitting down or just quite is this normal in USA?

Carmel is like old Italian village. People that come know there is no rat race there. Your biggest problem is finding parking spaces.It's a window shopper delight. This is a vacation for the rich. Prices are much higher than you'd expect buying at a mall. Walking down the beach allows you to take in all the beautiful nature.
