My Mom put in 2 diced sweet pickles and a small diced dill pickle. Also gotta have red onion, eggs and celery. I use Dukes mayo, some dijon mustard and I like your idea for sour cream! Your recipes look great also!

I made your classic chicken salad Friday and now itâs my new favorite! Iâm usually not a fan of sweet pickle relish in chicken salad, but combined with the lemon juice and Dijon mustard it was delicious! Excellent!

My recommendation: make your own mayo. I love mayo. And since I've learned how to make mayo, I always make my own now. It's sooooooooo much better. And there's no soybean oil in it like 99% of the store bought mayo. I prefer using olive oil. Same for salad dressings. I make my own, for example, you can use some of your homemade mayo and sour cream to make ranch dressing. So much better.

I make about 5 versions of chicken salad. Often I add some cooked pasta to make it a complete meal. My mom's which has celery and sweet pickle, an apple, celery, walnut one with some bleu cheese, one with cucumber, tomatoes and black olives, one with grapes, slivered almonds and diced Swiss and my husband's favorite which has Mandarin oranges, feta and red onion.

@palomahealing5073Your salad looks really good. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on smoking the chicken before final prep? (and retain the moisture) I've had smoked chicken salad in the past and it was so good.
