Did you get this information from your local police? It's all crap. The only thing you should say to a cop is 1) I don't consent to any search or seizures 2) I plead the 5th 3) I want a lawyer. Then shut up.
Everyone imagines an interrogation room: metal chair, flickering light, maybe that iconic one-way mirror. Movies make it loud, like confessions explode under pressure. But in real life, it’s quiet — too quiet. It’s psychological chess, not boxing. The best interrogators aren’t yellers; they’re listeners, observers, masters of calm control. They don't make the truth come out; they let it come out on its own. You can see how legality, empathy, and patience can work together to get honesty without going too far. These are the 25 interrogation tactics used by the law enforcement. And when we finally reach the last technique, you’ll understand something deeper: the greatest weapon in that room isn’t the questions or the badge, it’s silence. But we’ll get to that.

I'm about 5mins into this video and I'm getting annoyed....none of these that you've listed (up to 6 min) are caring and empathetic. These are all twisted ways to screw people and get what they want. In 2012 I was deep in addiction and depended on a dude that was deep in selling. He got caught up i was almost swept into it. However the "investigators" told me I'd be ok if i just answered their questions. Dumb ass me believed them. 5 days later they came with a warrant and arrested me. Because the DA has final say on charges. Not cops, not detectives, no one. I ended up in jail for 6 months fighting the charges. They were saying i was conspirator when i wasnt. I wish i knew better and never opened my mouth!!! I could have gone to prison for 6+yrs. Luckily i got off with rehab and probation.

Because law enforcement are legally allowed to lie to you I have told anyone that will listen to me, especially my family members, if you find yourself being detained by law enforcement do not say anything but I want to speak to an attorney.

I have noticed that they hate it when you say you want a lawyer, despite it being in the rights and they will try to delay the motion for as long as possible. I doesn't take long to look and find one since there are so many somewhere, and quite often they purposesly locate a terrible one. If that isn't bad enough, half the time, there isn;t much time to prepare for a court case either. If you ask for counsel, they become suspicious of you more
Music: Dark Alley Deals - Aaron Kenny
Chapters:
yes, they are sneaky, manipulative and they are legally allowed to lie to you. But you know, the funnny thing is, watching this video, it switches to adverts with singing pink llamas. I must admit, it is an odd tactic too
0:00 - Intro
0:49 - The Mistletoe
I've been watching List 25 and loving Mikes vids for at least 10 years and this is the first one that has me saying while you have the smarts on the topic, there is absolutely no wisdom in this segment
Must be nice to have grown up in a life you've never had to deal with a cop and a camera in a lil room. Porn can't compare to what you can catch in that situation
1:51 - Crossing Your Fingers
2:52 - The Phoenix
The Read technique has stopped being used. They may use parts of it. However it got tons of false statements. Making a ungodly amount of innocent people people in jail.
As someone mentioned say lawyer. This YouTuber could probably do 25 facts in just getting one.
3:51 - Unlucky (and Lucky) Numbers
4:44 - Three Wise Monkeys

5:45 - Bats

12:57 - The Lotus Flower

Using timed evidence:
Detective: So you say you were somewhere else that day?
Sus: I was traveling.
Det: The next day when we searched your residence, we found this.
Detective places a bloodied knife in an evidence bag on the table.
Det: Your knife with your finger print on the hilt.
Sus: If you run a DNA test on that blood, you will find it is not human.
Det: We are. The lab should have the results within the hour. Care to comment?
Sus: Alright, I admit I was travelling on restricted federal land. The Sasquatch attacked and in self defense I stabbed it.
Det to second detective "His story holds up but we can still get him on trespassing and hunting endangered species."
"Book him, Dano."
14:55 - The Phrygian Cap
15:54 - The World Tree

Asking questions that you already know the answers to to see what people tell you.
"I like knowing how a conversation is going to end before I start it". Michael Garibaldi, Babylon 5

Did y'all take a criminal psych interrogation class and decide to bullet point it?
This was very repetitive tonight. Like AI wrote it or something. Many points just restated.

Mike
You have the right to remain silent. Every thing you say will be used against you, never for you, in a court of law. That's how it should be said.

I've only gotten through 23 but this already feels like a what it's supposed to be, not what it actually is. These all imply the cop has basic respect for the other person as a human being, which is almost never the case.

I’m sorry, Mike, but I worked in law enforcement. Never saw so much deceit and dishonor.
@SteveandbrendaVERY good.
whoever your source is, they are extremely professional.
kinda gave away the secrets, too
which is ok 🙂
The detectives are not looking for the truth. They just want to close the case and chalk up points with the captain. It does not matter if a person is innocent and is now in jail. If the detectives were looking for the truth they would be fired by the end of the week. Nice segment in some other universe, but none of that stuff flies here in the real world of the Land of the Free, the USA.
With YouTube it is very easy to see abuse after a abuse of the innocent. I saw a segment where the ever so caring, truth seeking empathic detectives convinced a man that he killed his father. AND THE DETECTIVES KNEW THE FATHER WAS ALIVE AND WELL!
Mike, grow up. Get in the real world. This segment is PURE BULL SHIT.
Police can lie to you but, if you lie to police it could be perjury. Don't say anything, not even to defend yourself against their allegations. "Just say "I want a lawyer."
@leebarry5181I do not agree with anything you were saying. I have personally witnessed police officers lie twist and cheat to get somebody in trouble. They’re not there for your benefit they’re there to get you to confess whether you did anything or not. They are not your friends and they don’t want to be your friends. Don’t fall for it. I like your stuff but I’m not even gonna finish watching this one.😊
@maryweimer746I'm concerned that each time you describe the end result of the tactic, you phrase it as if the person being interrogated is guilty (i.e. "The truth comes out".) You never say that the truth can establish someone's innocence as well as their guilt. The police do make mistakes, and if the person being questioned is actually innocent, the person can make a serious blunder by misspeaking. Your best thing to say if you're being interrogated is just this: "I want a lawyer." Anything else endangers your freedom - even if you're innocent.
@nagredmoonstriker252You've obviously never been interrogated by a babycop - they will do Anything to make you sign a confession, from beating you with phone books to mocking you like you're not a grown-ass man to even dialing Hell. No one wants to go to Hell because you wouldn't give your landlord four beers!
@shiftybat7318...and when Santa rides in on a unicorn, waves a magic wand, and a flying pig sprinkles some fairy dust, then all ends well for everyone.
@melodied4314Everyone has the right to remain silent, however, not everyone has the ability to remain silent. Once you hear "Your under arrest" the only other thing you need to say is "Lawyer" after that not a single word, name, address NOTHING! Until counsel arrives.
@wvdiscodjlol and how many legal citizens are detained by the ICE goons with exactly NONE the fuck of this joke of a video
@seattlepickleAlso remember that they are legally allowed to lie. And they need that confession. Makes their work easier, easier to litigate, and they might not have enough to actually prosecute.
@dc9926It’s wild that this video was written, recorded, and released in 2025. It’s clear that whoever wrote this is either not American or very disconnected from reality. Possibly both. I love you Mike, but how could you say some of this stuff with a straight face?
@kerihazelton5785I didnt hear you mention that the Supreme Court has ruled that cops can lie to you to gain a confession. This has led to many false confessions. SCOTUS has also ruled that law enforcement has no obligation to keep anyone safe, which is why we saw how they treat children being terrorized in Uvalde Texas, while they just stood outside arresting parents . Our taxes pay for law enforcement officers to go out and exort people, or worse. We pay for them to worry about their safety, and thats why most violent crimes go unsolved.
@walkingdeadman4208Polygraphs don't work. Check out 'Adam's ruins everything '.
@johnsanchez2282Ya interrogation ain’t polite and the cops are trained get confessions no matter of guilt or innocence. Your only real chance is to have a lawyer present
@GordonRehmIf being interrogated, one word: lawyer and then shut your mouth
@ronleonard7015There are still areas where good cop and bad cop rules apply just to get a conviction. If your in my area, they absolutely do nothing.
@timothyweers8054I was happy when i saw u back to youtube❤ is this new channel mike?
@ajsmallz6167I love this channel it's amazing, I'd like to see a list 25 of behind the scenes version, now that would be awesome 👌
@madmonk3174If all this is really true, then I think we've all been watching too many TV dramas... 😱
@andrewcordle2424I lost any respect I had left for cops after the Uvalde shooting when they wouldnt go in after the shooter and all those kids got killed. Now there was not that much respect to begin with but still. "I do not consent to any searches of my person or property, and I invoke my 5th and 6th amendment rights" is all I'll say
@shagreobe#25 I always wondered why it is call Miranda rights/warning. I looked it up and this is directly from Wikipedia. It reads "The concept of "Miranda rights" was enshrined in U.S. law following the 1966 Miranda v. Arizona Supreme Court decision, which found that the Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights of Ernesto Arturo Miranda had been violated during his arrest and trial for armed robbery, kidnapping, and rape of an 18-year-old woman. " Interesting, He was subsequently retired and found guilty.
@theoldman7739Never been in that situation but always first thing invoke your right to an attorney and invoke your right to remain silent. Only two things you have to say. I got put on probation about 10 years ago for a DUI. Probation officer gave me a sheet to fill out and asked if I had any deadly weapons in my home. I listed all kinds of stuff. Guns, Baseball Bats, Golf Clubs, kitchen knives, screw drivers, razor blades, pencils and pens, 2x4's, saws all, bricks, etc... was a lot more. Office laughed and just told me to be good for a month. Never showed up at my house. LOL
@randyriegel8553If you get tired of being interrogated and police won't let you go home, doesn't asking for a lawyer put your butt in jail until a lawyer is available just to have the interrogation resume?
